0 stars if that was an option. I ordered a plain cheese quesadilla. I ordered a chicken taco. I ordered a lemonade. The quesadilla arrived ICE COLD. I had to heat it up in my own microwave for 30 seconds upon arrival!! The taco had the option of beef or chicken when ordering. I selected chicken, and in the "special instructions" box below it, I wrote NO LETTUCE. ADD SOUR CREAM. GRILLED CHICKEN. Order was completed at 7:20pm and the Doordash driver delivered to my door at 7:23pm. The taco has slimy, wet chicken with peppers in it and not grilled as I requested. I called Cancun and the owner told me it was the Doordashers fault my quesadilla was cold and I would need to complain to them.. even though it only took 3 minutes from the grill to my door? And she said I couldn't gwt the taco replaced because it was my fault I didnt specify grilled chicken- even though the cook read NO LETTUCE & ADD SOUR CREAM... the grilled chicken part was skipped. So that is my fault? Food has gone down hill. Over priced. Unfriendly people. Unwilling to correct my order. She told me to take it up with Doordash. read more

This restaurant is so good! So friendly and super quick! We ordered over the phone for take out for 4 meals and they had it done within 15 minutes! Every single one of our meals were absolutely delightful. My husband got the Burrito Gigante, my friends grandma got the Burrito Mexicano, I got the chimichanga dinner and my friend got the chicken rice and cheese. Their portions are huge, filling and absolutely YUM! It comes with chips and salsa, always. I will definitely be a return customer, and not just because it's 3 minutes from my house. read more

Great Mexican food. Fast friendly service and can always depend on this restaurant if I am on the go. I could go there just for the chips and salsa alone. I would recommend the Cancun special or Veggie C platter. My wife and son always love the chicken and steak fajitas. Good Stuff! read more

Great Mexican food. There is a waiter named Jackson that really does a good job. I have eaten there for years and never had a bad meal. I am a beef taco lover with a cold beer or two - margaritas are super. Small town ambiance and authentic Mexican good food -try it you'll like it !! read more

I truly like supporting the local businesses but once again the lack of acknowledgement by any wait staff after being seated by the host, is very disheartening. Each time I have been I kind of think it will get better and the more disappointed I become. Done!!! read more

Ms T and I have been making regular trips between St Louis and Chicagoland to enjoy Jazz Showcase in South Loop. We are always looking for some place to stop for lunch. We have made two stops at Cancun in Sherman recently. I have driven by the signs on I-55, what seems like a thousand times. Cancun is a pretty gringo place. None of our servers have ever been Mexican. The food we have had follows that theme, although admittedly we have not done anything but a light lunch. Their salsa with chips is acceptable, a pureed style, with a lot of garlic. It always helps us when it is not full of chunks of onion. For these meals, Ms T always orders a ground beef tostada. She found them to be acceptable, with minimal seasoning in the beef. I have ordered Huevos Rancheros both times. They are also acceptable, with a similar (or same) garlicky tomato sauce. The last time, I tried to get some huevos con chorizo, but was told that the only egg dish they did was the ranch-style. I found that odd. Maybe they don't have chorizo, but this is absolutely the first Mexican restaurant I have been in anywhere that would not make this for me, whether on the menu or not. I think we will we will probably stop here again, regardless, when timing is right. It is on the low end of the typical family style Mexican places we have been but is a better option than all the chain food along I-55 and in Springfield. I still have not figured out a good way to get back on I-55 northbound from this exit. Maybe it is a temporary construction thing. Thank God for GPS. read more

Took a buddy to dinner here. New to the area and always looking for a good Mexican place. First time eating in the establishment. Service was good, food was pretty tasty. Prices were a little higher than expected but the shocker was the price of the drinks. Noticed on the receipt that 2 glasses of soda were $7.98. Not sure why in the world 2 glasses of soda that cost 12 cents to make would be that much. It definitely cost them a return from me. Also noticed a few gnats flying around my table while there. We ate there quite a bit but this time was a disaster. Food wasn't quite as good and the waitress was awful, she didn't place my daughter's food order in until our orders came and my granddaughter's salad tasted awful. We sent it back and wasn't ask if she wanted anything else. Then my husband asked for the manager and was told there wasn't one, so there was no one in charge. I'm really unsure what rating to give Cancun. The last time we visited was over 3 years ago when I wrote my last update. Craving Mexican one night and not wanting to drive far, we decided to give Cancun another try. First visit back was fantastic! 5 stars! Everyone was friendly, service was fantastic, restaurant was spotlessly clean, tea was great, and food was wonderful! No complaints. We were so happy to enjoy Cancun again we decided to go again, a week later. A week later: Completely different experience: 2 stars at *best.* Restaurant was still clean, food was decent although swimming enchilada sauce and overpriced. Our waitress was one of the worst waitresses we have ever had. Completely inattentive, never smiled or acted friendly. Had to ask other people to get things for us because she disappeared. Tea was horrible! It was pale yellow and tasted like water! No one in the restaurant acted friendly, all seemed miserable. It's startling to me that a restaurant could be so drastically hit or miss. Yikes! Probably be another few years until we are back again! read more

I was traveling up 55 and stopped for some lunch. First impressions: it looks at first glance like many other Mexican joints I've been to, Aztec themed paintings and colorful lights. The expected Mexicali music, tables, booths, servers...everything normal. When I sit down I realize something; with my German/Polish great-grandparents and Roman Catholic upbringing I am the most ethnic thing in this joint. That also summarizes the food. It's like a middle American idea of what Mexican food should be. Nice, warm, and mild enough for the baby to eat without blinking an eye. (The baby literally did just that) Things that came to my attention: zero hot sauce in the dining room...isn't that like no soy sauce at a Chinese restaurant? The rellano on the menu is NOT familiar to me as such...that is, not the way I know them to be made. The taco was a touch overcooked and overprocessed. The sopapilla, again, not made like any sopapilla I remember. The rice was a disaster, clearly reheated and probably on day 2 or 3. I don't want to make it seem as if it was a total disaster. Good service, clean, quick, and accommodating of the baby that came along. I enjoyed the guacamole salad and the chimichanga was nice. If I were traveling by again I would give them another try, they may not have been the most authentic but they are still better than filling up on grease at a fast food place. read more

Many moons ago, I used to go here and the food was good. I haven't lived in the area in a long time but happened to be driving by after visiting family and we decided to stop for dinner before we headed back to Chicago. We were seated quickly and service was polite and timely. The food, in comparison to what we get in Chicago, was basically flavorless. The hot salsa was what I would consider medium, the taco meat didn't have much flavor at all, the chalupa was flat, though the guacamole seemed fairly fresh, and the cheese enchilada was fairly standard, though the brown sauce was a bit confusing. Overall a bit disappointing as I was trying to maybe relive some good times a bit but worth the 3 stars overall for service, friendliness, cost for portion size and speediness. read more

Best service I've had anywhere! Vickie was attentive to us without being overbearing while also attending to other customers. She could've worked the entire room! Food is what you'd expect in this area for "Mexican" food but the service made the experience well worth it! I went to Cancun last August with my mother for her birthday. It was her favorite place to eat and so it was part of her bday present. We sat down to eat and everything was great I ordered the chimichanga, welll i was half way through eating it and i found a dead fly inside my chimichanga, not on the plate but inside. The closest to authentic Mexican I believe I have had in the Springfield area. They tend to be busy all the time but are always good at getting you in and out. The salsa is extremely fresh. The chile relleno is unique to this particular restaurant and is also excelente. The flan is also a tasty dessert to try. read more

Always excellent food and service! We often visit it on our way to Springfield. My husband and boys love the hot salsa and I prefer the medium. I'm thankful that they give both as an option. They are always fast when it comes to getting food out. Which is great when you have kids. I highly recommend Cancun!! I have never had anything that is less than perfect. Always pleased. DON'T GO HERE!!! Had a horrible experience. When first coming in it seemed like a cheap, run down, not very clean Mexican joint and was even more disappointed throughout the time I was there. It was the worst service ever, a simple order was messed up multiple times, the food was poor quality and super dry. The worst part of all.. the owners are rude phonies, which after sharing my terrible experience with someone else they also agreed about the owners. I will NEVER even think about going to this place ever again. read more
