This place is MUY BUENO! The statue of the horseman outside is an excellent welcome sign to come on in! The atmosphere inside is just as attractive. Traveling often, this is good Mexican food. The steak/chicken/shrimp fajitas were good, the tilapia fish tacos were yum (not a fish stick disguised as fish in sight!), and the birria were great! When in the area again, I'll be visiting again. read more

This Mexican Restaurant is very authentic, the portions are large, and the food was delicious. We have been stationed overseas in the military and have not had access to good Mexican food in a while. We stopped for a quick bite to eat on our way to upper Wisconsin. Food was flavorful, and nice portions given. There were many options on the menu I hadn't seen from our local Mexican restaurants. I like going to mexican restaurants to have margaritas and enjoy the chips and salsa. The last 3 times I've been there they have 0 tequila in the margaritas and last night the margaritas we ordered tasted like water! I finally went up to the bar and they said to just "order something else". The service last night was also horrid as we waited over an hour and a half to get our food and the place was not packed at all. I just drove into Jacksonville and saw this big billboard as the best Mexican food so thought I would try it out. I was welcomed when I came in and sat at the bar. Service was very attentive and I had a good Lime Margarita to start. Chips were hot and salsa was okay. Ordered the Guacamole appetizer which was okay but could be spicier. Ordered the Tilapia platter with shrimp and it was very good, could use a bit of spice. Overall, great place, affordable and good drinks. I did not eat in the dining room and did not experience poor service. Check them out. Not 5 stars as there is no way Jacksonville Mexican food is at the S Cal level given proximity. Multiple times now we have received margaritas that don't have tequila in them and/or are very watered down. Last night we sent a drink back because it tasted just like water with food coloring in it and instead of making us another one the bar tender and manager were very rude and just told us to order something else. Although they were not very busy, we waited at least 5 minutes to be seated. When they took us to a table, there was a turbo-fan sitting on the floor next to it, blowing directly on us. As we were discussing moving to another table, a waiter set up a folding stand behind my chair, placed a large tray of food on it, and it collapsed, sending hot fajita ingredients all over my leg and foot. I grabbed a paper napkin, dipped it in my water, and applied to the burned spot on my leg. When staff came with a broom to clean up the food, they told us, quite rudely, to move so they could clean the floor. We went to the next table, where one of the people sweeping up the mess asked if I was OK. I said "No, I am burned. And I could use a towel to clean up my leg and shoe." He replied "Oh, sorry." When they brought our food, I asked to talk with a manager. No one ever came to talk with me, and the entire staff seemed to be avoiding our table. When they brought the bill, I asked again to speak with a manager and was told no one was available. There was no adjustment to the bill, no manager available. I eventually paid my bill and left. As for the food, it was average. If you are looking for great mexican food, this is not the place. If you are looking for "ok" food, then give it a try. read more
