Beef Taco

It was date night and I was in the mood for Tacos. As I was in the area, Taqueria La Oaxaqueña popped up on my radar so I decided to stop in. Imagine my surprise when I pulled in and realized that I had been here before. The parking is very tight so make sure you have your bumper cars skills in order. LoL! Walking in, the restaurant is very vibrant and the area is very spacious. The hostess was super nice and took care of us immediately. She sat us near the side window which was a great spot for personal conversation. The menu is very robust and provides a variety of options for any liking. They even have an American section which offers wings and nachos. They didn't have any sweet tea so I got a lemonade and it was the bombbbbbbbbbbb. LoL!! After taking some time to review the menu, the Birria Tacos were made with Goat Meat so I decided on the Taco Plate w/ Steak as my meat. The place comes with rice and beans as well. When my food arrived it looked and smelled amazing. The meat was well seasoned and tender. The steak was chopped into the perfect size that made it easy to eat. The floured tortillas were toasted which added a great layer of texture to the taco. The rice was good but was even better with the beans poured over it. Ummmmmm. The Beans were a pinto bean (I believe) and were well done and seasoned just enough to give them flavor but not overpower the meat flavor that they were made in. Alessandra was an amazing waitress. Her service was spot on and she was very pleasant and full of smiles. She checked on us the perfect amount of times and made sure we were all set. Good food. Great service. Great time.

Food - flavorful, hot and just over delicious! Many authentic options as well as Americanized meals. Service is just the way I like it - attentive, but not hovering. Staff are polite and professional. I've visited twice now and have never had an issue. Ambiance - laid back! 4 Stars only because I'd need to try more authentic items on the menu besides burritod and tacos.

Steak Quesadilla
Princess M.

As someone coming from California I have to say this is the best quesadilla I've had in Georgia ! I had the goat quesadilla and it was juicy, cheesy, and full of flavor! I didn't need to add sauce or condiments. We also ordered a steak quesadilla which was also amazing! It had peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese and plenty of fresh cilantro! Customer service was also excellent even with a small language barrier. Definitely worth the price and not expensive at all ! Highly recommended

Great quesabirria!!! Phenomenal taste and cheeseyness!! The rice was a little bland and the Guac was not my favorite but holy cow are the birra tacos good!! Service is so kind and friendly and the restaurant is clean. Will come here again!

Taqueria La Qaxaqueña is a staple in tree Jonesboro area. Located on Mt Zion Rd the history of the restaurant journey is a fantasy come true: "At age 15, Rosalia Ruiz started selling traditional food an snacks in her home state of origin in Oaxaca, Mexico. In 1995, she had the opportunity to travel to the USA with her husband, Oscar Arteaga, arriving at Dekalb County in Georgia. During a visit to a local flea market, Rosalia came up with the idea of selling traditional Mexican food. With very few resources and a very basic grasp of the English language, they began to sell tamales. After two years, Rosalia and Oscar saved up enough money to buy a food truck, which was located on North Harston Rd, at Stone Mountain. After years of struggles and perseverance, they were able to expand their business to a brick and mortar location in Clayton County on 6768 Tara Boulevard. For five years, "Taqueria La Oaxaqueña" operated at that location, where they earned the loyalty of their clients with their delicious traditional Oaxacan food" The food is equally amazing but be careful if you have to choose between medium or large try the smaller portions first. The good comes on hot plates in abundance and there is always room to share if you are in groups. Happy dining

When we got there they served complimentary chips and salsa. Our waitress was very attentive to us throughout our dinner. The tacos here are so big! Love the corn tortilla that they use. I ordered 3 tacos for myself but couldn't finished it. Wish the tripas was a bit more crunchier. Wasn't a big fan of the cheese they used in the anchors though. It was too salty so we couldn't finish it.

Mole tacos. The best I've ever had!

I've eaten a ton of Mexican food in the past thirty years and always love to seek out the best places wherever we are, including probably the dozen or so times that I've been in Mexico. This is the best Mexican food that I've ever had! The salsa bar had my new favorite, salsa de cacahuate, only the second time I've seen it in a restaurant. It's ground up peanuts and chilies and very good, I think. The refried beans were the best refined beans I've ever had. The mole tacos were super fantastic! I've never had better mole! The carnita taco I got was the best carnitas I've ever had! The chicharon taco was pretty good. My server was sweet and on point! You can't go wrong at this place. I wish I didn't live so far away but see a restaurant with the same name, much closer to me in Duluth, and I'm hoping it's the same owners. Their reviews are just as good and they also have those tlayuda's on their menu so I'll be checking them out soon and hope they're similar.

Bean & Cheese burrito (beware: they cut all their burritos in half even to-go)

Eat here if you want the best Mexican food by ATL Airport! We are from Southern California (aka spoiled with eating delicious/authentic Mexican food all the time so picky about eating Mexican food so far away from Mexico) but Taqueria La Oaxaquena tasted amazing and was the perfect meal before having to head to the airport (because who wants to eat airport food? - not us!) When we arrived the restaurant was packed - a great sign! It was also packed with native Spanish speakers - also a great sign that the food would be authentic & top-notch - and it was!! The restaurant was very clean (even the restrooms) and all of the employees were nice and helpful! They have multiple types of salsa including my favorite the green tomatillo - all of which tasted fresh and flavorful! We ordered: 2 Pastor street tacos (really good marinade!) 2 Carnitas street tacos (carnitas was perfect crispy on the edges and soft and flavorful - this was our favorite!) 1 Campechanos (Steak and Chorizo) street tacos (This was a great combo of making the Asada more flavorful but not as overpowering as a straight chorizo taco) 1 Asada street tacos (actually our least favorite) 1 bean & cheese burrito (no rice) (tasted more like a cheese burrito with a smidge of beans but who doesn't love cheese so that was delicious) 2 Kids steak mini burritos (got rave reviews from the kids!) Just to note the "street tacos" that we ordered are the ones that you'd get in SoCal or Mexico with the cilantro, diced white onions and a line to squeeze But - they do offer the other tacos with all the toppings too Best of all: they make their tortillas from scratch! One thing to be aware of is they cut all their burritos in half (even on to-go orders like ours) which I didn't like since that makes it messy to eat so in the future I'd request them not cut in half - I didn't know ahead of time they did this. Also you can call ahead to place a to-go order which was awesome and super convenient! Allow at least 25 minutes minimum though because they are busy! We always seem to be hungry either after landing at the airport, or before our flight, so now we have a new go-to airport restaurant since it's less than 15min drive from ATL. We highly recommend this restaurant to locals too who want some delicious, authentic Mexican food!

Ciara D.

The best most authentic Mexican food in the metro Atlanta area. First time visiting and I definitely plan to visit again. It's not your Tex max it's more street food Mexican. I ordered the sopes both chicken and carne. 10/10 on deliciousness rating.

Tacos de asada

Tacos and oaxaqueña

We tried Taqueria La Oaxaqueña for a late lunch. The menu has loads of options and pictures to help you decide what you fancy. We ordered three tacos and a large Oaxaqueña (Mexican- nachos but flat ) which contains your choice of protein, beans, lettuce, avocados, jalapeños. It was good but needed some flavor. The tacos are delicious and have nice amounts of protein. The orchata was delicious and not too sweet. They also provide you with a big amount so you will likely not finish. We will return and try other foods and more tacos. Staff was friendly.

Tamale Asada taco
Jade C.

Service was OK. Wasn't greeted when I entered the building. Planned on getting my order to go, but just ended up seating myself. Ambiance seemed a little off, but not terrible. Service improved once I was greeted by a waitress. I ordered a pork tamale, and asada taco. Chips and salsa coke with the meal after being seated. The tamale had minimal meat, and had fatty pieces. The asada was flavorful, but I didn't imagine the tortilla would come out so big. I noticed photos of street tacos on yelp so, maybe I needed to be more specific of the kind of taco I was looking for. Tortilla was homemade, and not dry at all. I did not like the salsa that came with the complimentary chips. It tasted like it had a hint of marinara in it. The menu is large. They have a salsa bar at the front of the building by the register. Overall I'd give this place another try based off the flavors of the food.

Birria Quesadilla with rice and dipping sauce. It's too die for!!!

I'd like to know if there's somewhere a in Morrow where they make the guacamole fresh at the table?

Los Trojas does on Mt Zion, at least they did when I was going.

There seems to be plenty of parking on the street as well as the lot behind the building. It was around noon when I arrived and they were serving their brunch menu. I had the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit that came with eggs and a side of grits. The biscuit was large, soft, and toasted and the fried chicken on top crisp and seasoned well. It was sweet from the honey. The eggs (I had them scrambled) were fine, but nothing remarkable. The grits were quite spicy for my taste, but I'm a wimp from the Midwest so they were probably great. I enjoyed everything. I would have liked an unsweetened iced tea, but only sweet tea was available. I had a fountain soft drink instead of. The restaurant was light and airy. The furniture was a bit worn and the dishes were plain white plastic but on the whole it was a lovely place. My server was pleasant and attentive.

NOTE if you go during brunch and you get a cocktail from the menu you won't see the prices for brunch. That is part of the reason for the low rating. Even though the drink menu says the days and hours for those prices, you have to ask for the after those hours. The menu has your typical southern brunch flare with a twist. The drink menu is good. I ordered the impossible burger slider, it doesn't come with anything. Just two sliders. I ordered the potatoes. Even though the sliders were decent. It was a little salty. Presentation was good. Watermelon savage. I also tried the scrambled eggs - way too salty. It was inedible. My brunch partner didn't like the grits or chicken biscuit that it came with. Service was fine. Decor and atmosphere was nice. Overall, it was decent. It seems like a nice place to grab drinks and catch a vibe or be the vibe. Gratuity is included. Overall, decent spot. Apparently, it has been ready for at least 10 minutes because I saw the last people sitting there leave and another couple leave shortly after them, but no one thought to seat us. The hostess apologized for the oversight. Signaling disorganization. We waited another 35 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered chicken and waffles and grits and had to ask for syrup, butter and utensils. Later we had to ask for refills. The waitress was nice but not as attentive as she should've been. I decided to deviate from the standard soul food lanes and went with the Caribbean Jerk Alfredo Combo, which comes with chicken and shrimp, plus some garlic bread on the side. Now, let's be clear: this is a soul food establishment, not a Caribbean kitchen, and that distinction was definitely present in the flavor profile. Everything was pretty tasty and the portions were solid, but it wasn't the best Jerk I've ever encountered. The sauce had some life to it, but if you're looking for that authentic island heat that makes you see colors, this isn't that.
