My experience was horrible. I went there after work on June 30th. I ordered 3 tacos and a Pina Colada. The tacos were mediocre and my drink must have been a virgin because I didn't taste any alcohol. The waitress only took my order, brought the food and returned later with the check. She never came back to the table to check on us or to offer anything else. When I went up to the bar to pay my bill, I was charged $25.90 and I left a $4.10 tip since she didn't do much. July 2nd, I checked my account and seen that I was charged $71.90 instead of $30!!!! I called up there immediately to discuss the matter. I was told that it would be best to come back and bring the receipt. I returned on July 8th and asked for the manager. I was told there was no-one there to speak with me. Well I explained to the waitress what the issue was, showed her a copy of my receipt that I scanned in using Fetch and my bank statement. She went to the back to show the manager (who I was told wasn't there). She came back and said that I needed the original receipt . I asked her to see the signed copy of my receipt and was told they no longer have it because it was last week when I came in...lol. They kept making excuses so I sat at the bar and called my bank. While I'm quietly waiting on hold, an officer walked in. A lady came out to meet him and they spoke in Spanish so I'm not sure what was said. She showed him a receipt that was in a zip lock bag . He then came over to me and asked what was going on. I explained it to him as well. After I finished, he informed me that they didn't want me here. I sat at that bar trying to rectify the issue for almost an hour and now all of a sudden they didn't want me in their establishment. I didn't yell or acted out in any type of way while I was there from 5pm-5:50pm. I walked out with Sgt. Ortiz Ramos who was not in a marked police vehicle. I disputed the $41.90 over charge with my bank. I'm pissed from the way this was handled. So many red flags so I know something underhanded was done. Why you couldn't show me my signed receipt and why was it in a zip lock bag???? read more

Did a take out order. Placed my order at the bar & decided to go also grab a shot while I wait which was $10 (ridiculous)! Instead of the server pouring it at the bar since I was SITTING at a bar she takes the bottle to the back and pours it One server comes out & places a different liquor back which wasn't what I asked for, so I asked what did you attempt to give me? That was a BIG problem for me! The food was sooo bland my barbacoa taco was nothing but slimy fat with onions & cilantro thrown on it. The chicken tacos were so dry. I won't be giving this establishment another try. I did not enjoy the food or my experience. read more

We tried this as take out and absolutely loved it. Love the large portion size and they had it ready for us on-time! Everyone at the restaurant was friendly even for a pick-up order. The order was correct, we didn't know what to expect but we really enjoyed everything. The tacos were amazing, very filling and flavorful, they go great with the salsas they have available (with to-go containers!). The chicken chimichanga was super flavorful and full of filling. The green enchiladas with carne asada were tasty, not what I expected but really good and with a nice spice to them. Also, the wings were surprisingly good!! We are from Colorado, and craving good Mexican food. This was a winner. I only wish they had green chile, a girl can dream. I look forward to coming back. read more

Our pickup orders were repeatedly incorrect, even after multiple visits. Staff acknowledged this had happened several times. When we asked to speak to management/the chef, we were refused, and some comments made during the interaction felt discriminatory and disrespectful. We were disappointed by the lack of accountability and professionalism. read more

Most of the food was good except the chimichanga. I was so disappointed with it that I didn't eat it.

The servers were friendly and the food came out very fast. Although the tortilla chips were underwhelming, the salsa tasted fresh and was nice and spicy. We thought the refried beans and the rice tasted a little bland, but that the entrees were delicious! The meat was tender and juicy and full of flavor. We also appreciated the large portions. We look forward to going back again. read more

This is an underrated Mexican seafood restaurant. The menu is extensive, and even obscure items were delicious. I had the shrimp aguachile, which was some of the best I've ever had. The chips and salsa are great, and the salsa bar is full of diverse flavors. Prices are not bad for the amount of food and quality of food. read more

We went on a Friday night, a friend of mine who is a foodie recommended this place. Location: it is located in a shopping plaza Parking: it's free and there's plenty Service: the service was simple, she took our order and brought it to us. I wasn't impressed with the service - I had to go to the bar to get my ticket and when I went up there nobody even looked in my eyes or asked what I needed. Food/drink : 3/10 my boyfriend enjoyed his food he had the Al pastor tacos. I had the steak tacos with beans and rice - it wasn't good to me. They did have a salsa bar which I liked. Will I be back? No. Didn't like the food and the service wasn't the best. read more

Great service, delicious food, casual ambiance. In the area for work and decided to try. Highly recommend.

You won't be impressed by the outside. You won't be impressed by the inside. You WILL be impressed by the food. So you always start with chips and salsa, but they take it up a notch here. They give you the normal chips and a salsa with some chunk of tomatoes, onions, cilantro and other seasoning that is clearly visible. It's clearly made in house here. I loved the flavor of all the ingredients; my only note is that it was a bit too watery to substantially stick to the chips. Small thing, but I did think about it on each chip I ate. If for any reason you want a different salsa than the one that is brought to the table.....THEY HAVE A SALSA BAR! I think that is really cool. Lots of different homemade salsas you can try. As if that wasn't enough, they also serve a Mexican rice and chicken soup to start. It was even better than the salsa. I got the carnitas for my entrée. Might be the best carnitas I have had. The pork was so incredibly tender and juicy on the inside and the outside was the perfect amount of crispiness. Sometimes I think places get too much crisp on the outside making it either burnt or at least dry and hard. Not here as it was absolutely perfectly browned and crisped. I will say don't be ordering these expecting a lean cut with fat trimmed off. They certainly left it on here, but if you are ok with that, it will really add a ton of flavor and juiciness to the dish. They serve it with rice, beans and a Mexican salad, and some tortillas as well. All of those were very good too and I especially liked that the tortillas were slightly charred on the grill before serving. If you don't need ambiance and just want some really excellent Mexican food, come here! It's the best place around. read more

A pleasant little surprise, despite it's appearance. The restaurant seemed like it's had a fairly long and maybe hard lifespan and could use a bit of sprucing, but the service was prompt, the food was good and the portion was ample. My server disappeared after she brought out the food, but I hate a hovering waiter/waitress, so that actually isn't necessarily a "bad" thing. I lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico for a spell and have eaten PLEN-TY of Mexican food and this was the 1st Veggie Burrito that I've had that was constructed as such...Rice and beans (Of course!!) and REAL vegetables like broccoli and potatoes; Not just filler veggies - NICE!! I'd definitely make a return visit! =) read more

I absolutely love this place. Nothing fancy. Just great authentic Mexican food, good margaritas that pack a punch, and friendly staff that are also easy on the eyes.. Delicious food! Nachos were out of sight! Fajitas everything was delicious. Worth a drive!

This place saved the day on my first birthday aka Cinco De Mayo! The original restaurant that I always go to was packed (which fully surprised me) but I remembered El Rio and always wanted to try it since moving over here. I'm so glad and satisfied I went there. The waitresses were very nice and working hard. She recommended a few things and clarified my confusion on the burrito combos. The food was amazing and mouthwatering! The guca could use a little more salt but other than that this will definitely be my go to Mexican restaurant from now on! read more

Passed by several times and went on a whim with my cousin. Was served promptly and food was out within 15 minutes. You have to ask to refill your chips and you refill your own salsa from the bar after the first one. Was excellent and the maiz tortillas were just as good as when I was in Mexico previously. Can't complain. I spoke Spanish which the servers preferred. Horchata was rich and not watery like most places. Will come again read more

Food was great! Seasoned well and good portions. Service was excellent and drinks were good. Will definitely make the trip to return soon!

This is one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in Atlanta. the menu is in Spanish and English, and you have quite a few different dishes to choose from including lunch and drink options. The fajitas were excellent, and so was the chicken burrito. Everything was hot and fresh, and the portions were great for the price. The corn tortilla shells were obviously homemade and not your average corn shells. I actually thought I was eating flour tortillas! I also like that they have a bar to get your different salsas, onions, jalapenos, and more! This unassuming spot is located in a plaza and definitely worth trying! read more

Food was delicious and price was very reasonable. And they made it quick . I recommend this place if you love Mexican food

We were driving on the interstate, and as is my habit, I use Yelp to help us find great local food. The community is obviously going through a revitalization and has great public spaces for kids. Some of the homeowners are struggling, but don't let that stop you from following the directions and going to this local gem. I absolutely LOVED the salsa; we travel the country and have had lots of different and delicious salsa. I could eat that stuff for soup. Just enough heat to enhance the fresh cilantro, tomato and onions. I also loved that they offer American and Mexican dressing for the tacos. Great street tacos, and my husband got his standard Taco salad. The bowl was actually fried to order. Such a great stop, I wish it was closer to home. read more

Great Mexican food! I love the chicken enchiladas plate. The service is great and the staff are friendly.

This place is about to be a regular spot for me and my daughter. The customer is excellent, the food is fresh and delicious and the area is very quaint. Now, the location of the restaurant is in a shopping plaza that is partially deserted but we found them through Yelp. I guess it helps to know that I am less than 2 miles away from the restaurant....YEAH! So I would encourage anyone to come to this place for authentic hispanic foods. You will not be disappointed. I had the Grouper with mojo sauce and rice/beans as sides. The fish was grilled to perfection with fresh mojo sauce that had me licking my fork and fingers...LOL! read more

Always clean, always consistently good and fresh quality, consistently "speedy Gonzales" on delivery with the food. Every once in a while they are a bit too stingy with too little sauce or cheese on a mole enchilada or a chimichanga, but the nachos and the fajita salad are mad consistent and very filling and tasty. I also love the caldo de pollo; it has a unique blend of vegetables that accompany the chicken. This is definitely one of my favorite authentic Mexican restaurants in the area. I can't wait to explore more options on the menu, and now that they serve more alcohol, I will be eating in more often! read more

I found this place on a hunt for some quick lunch! It was easy to find and they have tons of lunch specials! I ordered the chicken nacho supreme ($8) which was loaded with chicken, lettuce, tomato, guacamole and sour cream! The nachos were stingy with the queso and the queso that was there tasted watery... but the owner Lorina is such a sweet woman! She offered me their house chicken soup while I waited, which is usually only free to dine in guests only. It was amazing, and the soup alone is reason enough to go back. They have a salsa bar with homemade salsa which were all amazing! I would definitely give this place another shot! read more

El Rio Grande - Chicken soup! This huge thing is only $6 and it's AMAZING! - Mexican Near Me - Forest Park, Georgia

We were nearby and saw all the great reviews but our experience was not good. The service was so slow and they never refilled our chips or salsa. There's a salsa bar but it didn't have the one they brought us first. We interacted with our waitress a total of 3 times in the hour plus that we were there for a "quick lunch". The rest of the time she would act like she didn't see us. Everything seemed like it came out of a can or was the cheapest possible food quality. Our entrees were bland and the fried items tasted like they had never cleaned their fryer. One of the only times I've ever left a Mexican restaurant not stuffed, because we left most of our food. It was gross. read more

El Rio Grande Taqueria y Marisqueria is tucked away in the corner of a nondescript shopping center on Jonesboro road. The interior is spacious if not a bit austere but a quick look through their expansive menu tells you that at this place it's all about the food. As a marisqueria, the selection is large with more than 20 seafood dishes including time-honored favorites like vuelve a la vida, caldo 7 mares, and various preparations of mojarra, etc. Additionally there are intriguing shrimp dishes and Michoacán influenced entrees that more than pique enough interest for a repeat visit. If you're thirsty they have the inner circle of Mexican beers in addition to agua frescas, Mexican coke, and even homemade milkshakes. Since the menu at El Rio Grande is so large, I opted for a combo platter with a taco, an enchilada (still my measuring stick for Mexican restaurants), and a tamale (another good measuring stick). The beans were creamy and cooked perfectly without being too heavy and the rice was fluffy and fragrant. I was a little disappointed that the taco came on a store bought tortilla but there's no point in splitting hairs over that. The tamale was large and filled with thin tendrils of pork stained red by a liberal coating of achiote and spices. The star of the show was the enchilada, or more specifically, the sauce. The slightly smoky and sweet flavor of the chilies blended together into an enchilada sauce that I can say without a moment of hesitation is the best I have had in the city of Atlanta. It honestly is among the best I have tried anywhere. El Rio Grande is rock solid. Do yourself a favor and check it out! read more
