Not sure how tapan wok has a rating above 3 stars. I want to give it a 2.5 but I am rounding up because I want small businesses to find success. We picked up take out and we were left disappointed. We order honey walnut shrimp, general chicken, honey chicken, egg rolls and crab Rangoon. We selected fried rice for our sides. The honey walnut shrimp is extremely watery with little flavor or texture. Although the honey chicken has a decent flavor, the breading is soggy and sponge-like. The general chicken was over fried and dry and the sauce was watery as well. The "fried rice" is white rice with some soy sauce poured over it for color and a little bit of scrambled egg. The egg rolls and crab Rangoons were ok. Unfortunately they only gave us 2 of the 4 egg rolls that we ordered for our family. It's extremely annoying to pay $80 for take out and experience such low quality food. This seems to be a restaurant that takes no pride in what they sell. Would not recommend. read more

The first few times I ate here, the food was very good. I have tried the jalapeño chicken, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken and egg rolls. On my last visit, l ordered the chicken lo mein and it was terrible because the broccoli tasted old. I ended up just tossing it. The hot and sour soup was not good either. I use Yelp. A lot. So when a place has low reviews I get nervous. I try all the other places. I avoid it. Having moved to Celina a year ago and trying many Chinese places without great luck, I read the reviews here just like you are now. I saw mostly "bland." And I saw a few I trusted based on their prior food experience and locations. And my family gave it a shot. We ordered takeout from the Chinese side of the menu. Orange chicken, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls and hot and sour soup. And I would order it all again. I will say that the sweet and sour chicken came in styrofoam which is not my favorite. But all of the flavors were there, the lo mein and fried rice were good. The food was hot when I picked it up. And currently they are only allowing takeout, so be sure to call ahead. read more

We ordered delivery from Tapan Wok Prosper, and it took 1 hour and 20 minutes to arrive, even though we live just 3.9 miles away. The calamari was cold, the breading was so dry, and the calamari itself was not edible. The firecracker roll my husband ordered had zero flavor and tasted like it was made the day before. He had one bite and that was it. The California roll was an absolute joke. The rock shrimp was good, but that was all we had to share after the other items were a bust. We spent $64.00 on what turned out to be garbage. The restaurant is unorganized, and the customer service is poor. When I called an hour in to check on our order, the gentleman who answered the phone seemed confused and unable to communicate. The young lady who delivered our food was awesome and friendly, but she was from UberEats. Do not recommend. Don't waste your money. read more

I love this place! I always order sushi from here. The jalapeño bomb and the ahi tower are my favorite. They're both a little spicy and the fish is always fresh! The egg rolls are also really good too! The spicy tuna roll has a nice kick to it. I like that it doesn't have cucumber. I've never been a cucumber fan. They offer delivery if you don't want to eat there or pickup! I think there's a minimum so make sure to check. read more

Since we moved to TX from CA over ten years ago! (much happier in TX) we have been on the hunt for good to exceptional Chinese food. This place has come closer to anything else we have tried here. It's a little hole-in-the-wall place and it is only doing take out but they did not disappoint. My wife ordered the traditional sweet and sour chicken. It was crispy and the sauce was perfect. She loved it. I had the Hunan Beef, loaded with veggies and beef. All in all considering our past endeavors to find good Chinese food these guys were a hit. read more

This place was beyond disappointing and staff is extremely rude. The service was really bad and food disgusting. They gave my a plate of fried chicken with nothing else. When I politely told them I was unsatisfied with my food she got extremely defensive and told this is how it's made! She kept saying, "Can't you read? It doesn't say vegetables on here!" I've never been to a place where they question your reading level?!? I don't believe this is how you treat you paying customers. I did not eat my food, paid and left. I'm not going to argue with A MANAGER that isn't going to offer solutions. Spend your money elsewhere. This place is overpriced and service is awful. read more

Ok I've been here 3 times. 3 times a Miss. keep thinking maybe they are new and need to work the kinks. I was Sooo wrong. Not everything is bad. Almost everything is bad. If you're just wanting something to eat because you're to Damn lazy took cook. There are only 3 things I would recommend. "Don't Be Lazy" or the Lo mein noodles are OK super Oily. Right now, they only have orders to go so don't believe their internet postings. I order chicken Pad Thai wherever I go. I figure the best way to compare is order the same thing at every new place I try. This was the absolute worst ever. The noodles had no spice, and the chicken was mostly fat. Every piece in it had a very fatty texture to it.I dug through it and pulled it apart with a fork. No breast meat or brown. There were no pieces you could even shred like most pieces of chicken. This was like manufactured meat with 90% fat and 10% lean. $13 and i threw it away. My wife thinks I'm cheap and I don't like to waste food, but I couldn't eat this! Just based on the interior of the place I think they're running on a shoestring budget and I'm guessing most of their food is sub-par (good in golf, but not in food). read more

This review is for delivery and the food we ordered only. Tapan Wok just opened this week and we haven't dined inside as of this review. They deliver up to 5 miles from their restaurant. The delivery time was acceptable at 35-40 minutes. Egg Drop Soup- It was good. Tasted as egg drop soup should. The small size is definitely large enough for one and could probably feed 2. No vegetables accompanied this egg drop soup and I appreciate that. Recommended. Volcano Roll Sushi- I ordered just 1 roll to have us try it. Spicy tuna, avocado, crunchy topping, wrapped in pink soy paper and drizzled with a special sauce. The special sauce is mayo based. More sweet than savory. It's comparable to Kroger in quality. It's good, but won't knock your sox off. Cashew Chicken- I didn't personally taste it, but from all accounts the flavor and overall dish was good. Only complaint was the chicken to vegetables ratio was off as it was heavy on the vegetables. Moo Shu Pork- This dish is hard to find locally and when I have had it, it's been disappointing. Tapan Wok's version is Awesome! You can get it with other proteins, but pork is my favorite and it's highly recommended. Kung Pao Chicken- This dish I order at any Chinese restaurant I eat at and it's my benchmark item. The version here is really good. The only better version I've found in TX is at Howard Wangs. Recommended. As an F.Y.I. The fried rice that comes with an entree is steamed rice fried with soy sauce and doesn't contain any vegetables or proteins. All in all Tapan Wok is a welcomed restaurant to the community and we'll happily return often. read more

Nice to have a sushi place nearby. They serve sushi as well as Chinese style plates. The sushi selection is not as expansive as you might find in Dallas or Plano, but it seemed fresh and was tasty. Service was fine for a Friday evening during the rush hour. The place is small, so be prepared for a possible wait. I think I counted about 9 tables in all. The sesame chicken is so yummy and the crab rangoon is very crispy. Almost all the food I tried are delicious and the they have their own flavor which is totally different from other ordinary Chinese food. This is my first time to place order of delivery. Excited to see another food option that's not a chain (or at least I don't think it is) here in Prosper. I went in to order a few items today and it's a very clean restaurant with several booths and and tables available for sitting. Here are the items I ordered: Moo Shu Pork- I have no point of reference for this menu item so I took this recommendation from a previous Yelper. The flavor was really good and we all liked it. The "pancakes" did look like four tortillas so I'm not sure if that's the way it usually is or not, but the meat and veggies were very flavorful and it worked together nicely. We did get a few fat pieces in the pork which is never welcoming, but all in all, we liked it! Sweet and sour chicken (all white meat)- You typically can't go wrong with this. I usually don't order it but it was safe. They give you a lot of it (it fed all 4 of us with the kids having seconds) and it was piping hot still and crispy when I got home! We all liked it! Spicy Szechuan Chicken- (all white meat) Our least favorite. It wasn't spicy AT ALL and it honestly tasted like something was missing. The sauce did not look or taste like it was homemade but maybe out of a bottle. Each entree came with a side of fried or steamed rice. I can't speak on the fried rice because they accidentally left it out of my order, but no biggie. This seems like a solid restaurant and we'll order again to try different menu items. read more

We used this place based on the online reviews....and wish we hadn't. $85 later and we are still hungry because it was so bad. The "fried" rice was actually steamed rice with some soy sauce thrown on top of it. The Lo Mein...wasn't true lo mein...it was just noodles with soy sauce thrown on it. Orange Chicken and Sesame chicken were both nothing but breading...literally, several pieces were just the breading...no chicken! The chicken that was there was overcooked and dry. Little hole in the wall vibe, but the food was fantastic. We got the food to-go, since we were running errands and headed home. If you like over the top, salty, saucy food, this place might not be for you. What my family and I loved about it most was that it was drenched in sauce. It tasted like entrees my father would make for us when we were young. The shrimp tasted like shrimp instead of pink-ish fishy meat, the beef was soft with no gristle, and vegetables actually fresh. We added some hot sauce and low-sodium soy sauce to our dishes (we did not order it spicy), which was really nice to have a meal that taste whole and fresh. We got chicken teriyaki, mixed vegetables with beef and pork and shrimp fried rice! So those are the dishes we can whole heartedly endorse! Can't wait to try their sushi! read more

My kids never have leftovers. This is the closest to Bay Area Chinese food you'll get, right in the heart of Prosper.
