First off, I'm completely new to the firearm scene. Just purchased my very first firearms this year. So I know nothing really. I got recommended to this training facility for a CCW class. The class was very informative, and the head instructor Ernie was a professional instructor who has served before. Ernie is awesome at teaching, he's personal and has a great sense of humor that makes the class enjoyable. They are very strict on safety which is a key point. I walked away with a ton of knowledge from taking this class and as well as new skills I will continue with me for the rest of my life. I have barley scratched the surface with firearms safety and skills. I will be returning to further develop my skills and safety very soon. I encourage everyone to take a class here. I completed the CCW course with TRB hosted by Ernie. I found that Ernie did a great job of keeping the course engaging and entertaining . I feel that he truly cares about the students and goes above and beyond to educate everyone as much as possible in a short period of time. One nice thing is he does offer lots of outside resources - from USCCA and live scan associates coming into the classroom to offer there service in person. This does make this very convenient. I originally found these guys on Instagram but kind of procrastinated on signing up. A Freind and co worker who had been training with Gina @ society Forza wanted to take this class. Refered by Gina- we signed up. I also utilized their white glove servuce for the application process on the ccw with Orange County. The nice part about this is they know the expectation of the sheriffs department and how to prep you to be successful in the application process. If I was going to offer one suggestion it would just be a scheduling factor - sunshine in the office is not as efficient or effective as I would have liked. I feel this was the general consensus from the other students I spoke with as well. But even still and overall they have a better program then many of the other places I have had classes and training with. I took TRB's Orange County approved two day 16 hour CCW class. It was held at FT3 Tactical indoor range in Staton (one of the best indoor ranges I have been to). Going into the class I figured it was going to be boring law review then the fun part, shooting. I was definitely wrong, about the boring part. Ernie (owner/instructor) who doesn't look a day over 25 (good genes) but has over 35 years experience from military to martial arts made this class entertaining and informative. Ernies enthusiasm and knowledge definitely complements each other. He keeps the class engaged from the classroom to the range. This was the first time I used Tap Rack Bang for training, but it won't be the last. I just took the woman's self defense course & I learned so much! Ernie taught us how to properly use self defense with and without guns. I went to TRB after I had a very scary home invasion. After implementing several home security enhancements, I wanted an expert to check and see if any additional enhancements were needed. Ernie and his team were very responsive and performed a thorough home safety assessment and then which included very simple recommendations to immediately enhance my home's security. These recommendations were things I would have never thought of on my own and after implementation, my family and I immediately felt safer. My husband and I have taken 2 training classes with Brandon. He's a great instructor and really helped us get comfortable with firearms. Our most recent class with on pistols and this is where Brandon really shined! He got us comfortable with using a holster and drawing - all the time emphasizing safety. Ernie and the TRB team are awesome. This program is 2 days, and it requires a commitment, but it was well worth a full weekend of my time. The real value here is the personal interaction with Ernie and his team. We had a very diverse group in our class, some new firearm owners and others with some or long term experience. They work hard to make everyone feel involved, they take the time to ensure everyone understands the content and reinforce good habits when handling your firearm with encouragement. The highlight of the course is day two, were you are actually running various drills on the range. TRB's training is built on understanding concepts/situations and building physical actions by repetitive drills. It's well thought out, helps you to build on solid methods that are based on making the right decision. They also helped many of us out on equipment decisions/needs (types of holsters for various carry methods), provided training tools that you can buy directly from them and are always happy to give you their unbiased opinion based on experience. They even brought in a representative to discuss CCW insurance and we had the option to sign up right then and there. My point is, these guys give you the whole picture of what is means to have a CCW permit, and help you make the best decisions in a time frame that is good for you... not them. The best part of the TRB training was that I walked away a much more confident firearm owner. I have many drills I can practice on my own, and they take the time to show you how you can take what you have learned and practice it over and over. If you take this course you will be a better firearm owner/operator even if you chose to not get your CCW. IMO, every new firearm owner should take a course like this one, it's that good. I have spoken with many people who have taken their CCW training with other groups and they have all responded with "my class was nothing like that, nowhere near that involved." My wife and I were pretty much complete novices at firearms, and Ernie gave us a solid foundation through his three-day course. There wasn't much in the way of a "pamphlet" to know exactly what to expect from the course beforehand, so I'd encourage asking as many questions as you feel necessary. For us, the first day was in our home, the second day was at FT3 Tactical indoor shooting range in Stanton, and the third day was at Raahauge's outdoor shooting range in Corona (none of the training will actually take place at the Von Karman address listed on the Yelp page). Just FYI, you'll be expected to cover your portion of expenses for third-party vendors (we paid $5 for the indoor shooting range, $42 for 150 rounds of ammo, and $64 for the outdoor shooting range--perfectly reasonable, but something you'll want to keep in mind if you're on a tight budget and are under the assumption that the initial fee to TRB represents your total cost for the experience). All in all, it was an enjoyable learning experience, and Ernie was very cordial, knowledgeable, and helpful. For someone who knows nothing about this experience and culture, Ernie was very patient with me and my "newb" questions. He was very thorough with the information that he needed and requested it ahead of time. A little over two years ago I decided to get my CCW license. This was in large part due to the fact that I am a real estate broker and have been faced with some less than pleasant situations over the years. I never really wanted to own a gun, however, my husband and my son told me that I needed to at least try it. So I decided if I was going to do it, I was going to be trained properly, and know everything there is to know about guns, and gun safety. After doing thorough research, I chose Ernie Medina of TRB. He seemed to be very well qualified, and had great reviews. I did classroom training with him, and then we did the first in-range shooting. I shot once, put down my gun, and told him I made a mistake and that I wasn't cut out for this. He actually walked me through what was going on inside my head, and was right there with me step-by-step, to alleviate any fears that I had. As I said, that was over two years ago, and I have since taken a few trainings with Ernie, and have gone shooting with people in his group.
