I requested information on connecting their two-piece H Connectors along an 8 foot span on a greenhouse roof and they were clueless. The rep said: As far as I know you just snap them together. I explained it took a rubber mallet to get them to join per their own instructions. But when the span is 8 feet long and your reach is only 2.5 feet there needs to be more info on how best to do it. They gave me the phone number for technical for the mfg. (Macro-Lux) but Peter was clueless. I explained my predicament and he started calculating square footage on my roof. My brother and I went in to purchase a clear acrylic tube for an arts and crafts project. The service staff was seemingly helpful over the phone and in person... AND THEN: When my brother asked for them to cut him off a foot of the acrylic tube (which was in pristine condition when he gave it to them) it then came back with scratches all over it from top to bottom. There were blue paint skids mark scratches on it also. What happened back there while they were cutting? Perhaps just a mistake from being careless? (Fun Fact: TAP Plastics prides themselves on the beauty of their products.) Well, as my brother noticed this while we were in the parking lot, he then went back inside to ask the associate (Michael) why it was scratched? Michael had no answer, did not offer to make it right and also insisted that there was nothing that my brother could do to fix it! This is my favorite place to go for laser cutting/etching supplies. I have also have bought other plastics here for my school library to use as shelf markers and dividers and I have been so pleased with the products, the selection and the value. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and incredibly helpful! I have been going here for several years and the staff continues to impress me. I currently work in a school library with a makerspace and the staff has been amazing at helping me acquire all the correct materials for the projects including showing me the right adhesives for different projects. Everything went wrong but I couldn't be happier! I went in to have a custom sheet of plastic created to replace the in/out vent plate on my portable AC unit. The original vent plate was too small to fit on my patio door, and I needed to replicate it (but larger). Upon receiving the end product, I noticed the holes were spaced too far due to a miscommunication. They rushed to redo it. When I picked up the next sheet, the holes were too close! They redid it again in record time. Finally, I measured wrong and needed them to cut off a little from the top and they bent over backwards to accommodate me. Things go wrong in any business, but it's how the business responds that really matters. Manager Ben Winslow, and associates Brittany, Kira, and Jonathan kept going above and beyond to make it right. Regardless of fault (I'm no expert so some of the redos were surely on me) they took ownership of the problem and committed to resolving it. I was preparing for a debate or additional costs (based on other retail experiences) and was floored by their incredible response. No hassle, no arguments, no fuss, no extra fees tacked on, just solutions. I will forever give my business to this team and encourage others to patronize their store. The end product turned out better than expected, but more importantly I have 100% confidence that if any issue ever comes up again, they will handle it in the best possible way. Wow. I love this place. I was looking for a large sheet of clear plastic for a home project where glass was not a practical option. After a quick Google I discovered Tap Plastics. Their website contained a wealth of information on the plastic alternatives to glass. And I mean wealth: detailed descriptions on different kinds of plastic, lots of pictures, how-to videos, and a configuration app to help you gauge cost...and they cut-to-order! For my project I settled on clear extruded acrylic. It was suitable for my needs and the most cost-effective. I entered the desired thickness and my measurements into their configuration app and added the order to my cart. Now, my measurements were for three and a half feet of plastic...not something the post office has a pre-paid box for. The shipping cost was not unreasonable but also almost half the cost of my order. That's when I noticed on their website that they actually had retail stores. I investigated and to my sheer joy I discovered that they had an outlet just a stone's throw away in Lynnwood! Ordering in-store was a breeze and I was out the door with my cut-to-order plastic in mere minutes. To be honest, I actually spent more time prior to my order just looking around the store and marveling at all the different things they offered and what you could make yourself with plastic--these guys actually have a section for cosplayers! I brought 3 patterns to the store (one of them was over 9 feet long), and he and his staff were able to help me right away. They cut each piece exactly how I needed needed them cut and were able to get the job done quickly. Their responsiveness and willingness to help saved me a lot of time. The woman who helped me was kind and helpful. I needed 1/2" thick acrylic sheets and couldn't find any thicker than 1/4" at hardware stores like Home Depot. They have a nice selection of "by-the-pound" sheets that are pre-cut and various sizes (I'm betting scraps from larger cut jobs) at $1.70/lb. What a deal! And if they don't have what you're looking for there, they can cut what you need on the spot. Nice, small shop ran by nice people. Also, the parking lot is a huge plus. Even though I'm closer to the Seattle store, I went out of my way to Lynnwood since parking is a witch in Seattle. And I'm glad I did. =) read more

I went in to buy a plastic display case for a wine glass. The young woman who 'helped' me stated that they didn't sell pre-made cases, but made custom ones instead. After providing her with the dimensions (6"x4"), she seemed completely unable to understand the concept of creating an oblong box, and even asked if I wanted it to have a top and a bottom (which normally comes standard with a geometric solid). She was finally able to give me an estimate (for a square box, 4x4) for $63.00 and acted as if the whole thing was just a bother. Then, I browsed the store and found pre-made plastic cases right up near the front door. I was able to complete my project for $13.00. Sub-moronic employees like this and their employers don't deserve the other $50.00 that I might have spent. My advice to the clerk? Get another job that doesn't require any measuring skills, knowledge of store stock, or customer service. read more

I went into Tap Plastics to talk to them about making a stand for a piece of glass. The 2nd sentence out of Mike, the Assistant Manager, was we're not designers. We can make you something but I'm not going to help suggest anything. Wow, I was just looking for a suggestion of which materials to use, rod or block or something like that. I felt both him and another female employee were rude, condescending and shouldn't be in the line of customer service. We left extremely disappointed in this store. I can design anything, I just am not familiar with their products available to use. I didn't need to play 20 questions to receive rude, curse, non helpful replies. I've spent a lot of money at Tap before this and have previously found them informative and helpful with their products. For Christmas, my wife ordered me a giant, high res, high gloss photo of Quest Field (I'm a big Seahawks fan). The photo was huge, 50" x 66". The photo was $100+, but the company she ordered it from wanted +$500 to frame it. My wife just order the photo. We shopped around all the local craft stores for a frame, and most were around the same price ($400-500). We got a recommendation to try Tap Plastics for a picture frame. Not only could they make a custom sized frame for our photo with French cleats to hang it, but it was VERY reasonably priced. Way more than half the cost of all other places we shopped. We bought the frame from them, and brought it home to frame it. Unfortunately in the process of mounting the picture, a big piece of plastic broke off on the back pane of the frame. I called them the next day and they told me to bring it in for a new one. They bent over backwards for me, and customer service was clearly top priority for them. The next day after bringing in the frame, they had a brand new one for me, ready to go, no questions asked. When something breaks, some companies would say "Well sorry about that, nothing we can do!" But not Tap Plastics in Lynnwood. The picture is now framed and hanging on my wall, and it looks GREAT. I can't thank them enough for all their help! Stop by Tap Plastic to have a custom acrylic display cabinet door made as a replacement for a glass one that was broken during a break in at a retail store I work at. My store manager was going to pay $600 for a new glass cabinet when I suggest using Tap. The manager of Tap, Ryan, was the best. As well as his assistant, Toby. They helped me work through the problems of picking the right product for the job. And even though they were busy with lots of customers and phone calls, they never lost track of my project. The door looks great and my boss saved $520 by just replacing the door instead of buying a new cabinet. Thank you Tap! I went to Tapp plastics to get a piece of starboard fabricated. The person working the counter said he had to talk to his Mgr in the back, a couple minutes later asked for my name and number so the Mgr could call back. I asked why I couldn't just talk to him now, and was told he was in the bathroom. Ok, I guess that means I will have to come back if they can do it, weird ! The Mgr called back and informed me that if I wanted the "off white" color they would have to special order it and he would have to charge me $260 for what was a $20 piece of starboard. Obviously I declined. I found the piece at a marine store and came back to have it fabricated. You would have thought I was asking them to build a rocket ship. It was a fairly simple task and I even had a template. They wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount of money and push it out about a week. I again declined. It doesn't seem like these people know how business works, nor have any customer service skills. I will not go back. read more
