Always very disappointing when I have to do an update on a previously celebrated business. This has…read morebeen my go-to place since moving to Seattle in 2012. And I supported it wholeheartedly despite sometimes finding items slightly cheaper elsewhere. Additionally, as an art educator I always suggested it to my students for their value, as well as excellent and knowledgeable customer service. Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed to say both superb customer service and cost value are gone. Firstly, I learned from my students that student discount was no longer available. Then after my last visit, I was stunned how much the prices have increased. Still, I remained a dedicated patron. After coming home I realized one of the expensive wooden panels had a substantial gouge in the corner - simply too noticeable to try fixing. I confidently returned to the store but was told they would not take back the damaged items - because they couldn't verify it was damaged before my purchase. The associate was unbearably rude and dismissive. One my way out I expressed my profound disappointment with the current direction of this trusted business with another associate, only to have the associate I originally spoke with catch up with us. Now they changed their song, saying they could accept the damage item but I was very lucky because it's not something they always do. What?! The associate appeared to be making up policies as they went along. In the end I kept the damaged wooden panel, as I will keeping my business away from this place.

Push/Pull is an "underground art and comix" shop that sells and promotes 'Art, Supplies, Classes,…read moreand Community.' Came here for the community aspect as they hosted one of many locations for a town wide community cocktail walk was going on. We sipped cardamom-lemon vodka here as featured by a local restaurant. While there we chatted with the shop employees who were very nice. While sipping we browsed the studio looking at are pieces by local artists which can be purchased. A perfect example of supporting small business and local art. Push/Pull lives up to their statement being a part of and promoting the community. There is a fair amount art supplies here - including but of course not limited to Sketch books, brushes, glazes, paints, easels and more. They offer classes and have info about events going, so if you're an artist and want to be in more 'in the know' it may be worth checking out Push/Pull simply for that. I hope Push/Pull continues to be a part of the neighborhood!

Seattle ReCreative is a cool place to browse for odds and ends that you need for your latest…read morecrafting venture. Need a few Scrabble tiles? This is the place. Want just enough Modge Podge to finish that decoupage project? Go here. Need some rubber stamps to make homemade cards or gift tags? Definitely go here! They have a big selection. The place is rather messy and hodgepodge and had an odd smell when I was there. If you're someone who likes their shopping experience to be clean, well-lit, and orderly, this ain't your joint. But it's fun to go through the shop to inspire yourself and see if any treasures call out to you. Some things were a great buy and some were not, so shop wisely. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and I support the reuse and upcycle mission of Seattle ReCreative, so I'll be back.

I'm so happy with the folks at Annie's…read more I bought a beautiful Motawi framed tile elsewhere, and realized that I did not have confidence in the "hanging notch" it came with. Enter Annie's! I happened to come in at a time when it was quiet and was able to have hanging hardware installed in just a few minutes. Now I don't have to worry about the piece falling off of the wall. Not sure why I haven't been in here before - aside from the framing work they do, they have a cool assortment of gifts and cards. I'll be back!

Blick Art Materials in Seattle handled a frustrating situation with serious professionalism…read more We bought Arches 300lb watercolor paper online, and when we came in my dad was convinced it was the wrong weight. The associate who helped us (blonde hair, and I really wish I remembered her name) was calm, patient, and genuinely kind the entire time. She didn't turn it into an argument or make anyone feel talked down to. Instead, she immediately offered solutions: replace the paper or give us a refund. They didn't have the exact Arches paper my dad wanted to swap to, and she still went above and beyond by offering to call Blick and initiate an online return for us on the spot. That level of patience and customer service is rare. In the end, my dad decided to just keep the paper, but I left impressed with how well she handled everything. Big thanks to her and the Seattle team.

From greeting cards to artwork and Japanese garden sheers. This isn't a place where you go in with a shopping list, you kinda just let the store show you what you want. This is my second time stopping by during the Ballard Farmers market on Sundays. That said, the stuff they did have was amazing as always. I found this ridiculously cute tomato-shaped container that I decided to repurpose for my bathroom (because why not). The best part - it ended up being 50% off at checkout, and I didn't even know until I was checking out. Little surprises like that totally make my day. Also, the parking here was super easy! Plenty of open spots right by the entrance, which is always nice when you're hauling around big craft bags or canvases. All in all, good stuff - great value for my tomato jar (only 9.99) and I got to get out of the house.

I asked if there vintage spray cans were for sale and the (Asian) lady at the registered seemed bothered. I got a collection at home and wanted to know more. She then proceeded to tell me I could check the price on the bottom. Later I asked about the Ny Quill caps, and she didn't want to pull out all of them. She said "they all look the same different color". I wanted to see the difference so I asked her to pull them all out any way. I chose the one's I needed at the time. I also asked about other tools for the cans and she seemed dismissive, annoyed and bothered with an undertone voice of "I don't want to be working here". It seemed like a struggle to get info from her. At that point I wanted to just walk out but I came from another state and thought might as well just get everything here vs ordering online. I asked about my points and she said I can get a freebie. I asked to see the two different options and choose the black streaker. She literally showed me one and said they didn't have anymore and gave me the mop. It was the way she went about the whole interaction since I got there. I've been to many shops and art stores and usually the workers are chill but this experience was not that great. Like I said I like art primo one of my favorite stores been buying for at least 15 years or more.
