I had made sure that the massage would only be $40 but they charged him $45 after with no add-ons or special services. He was hoping it would be as good as the cheap massages he gets in Queens but he felt it couldve been better. Tao has the ambiance of a rub and tug. :) Awkwardly located on a corner of a one way street in a single family house Tao staff are friendly and reasonable priced for their massages. No it's not a spa but Tao gets 4 stars for there deep tissue massages. If you wanna get those knots out or loosen up those shoulders Tao gets you in and gets you out. I bought a Groupon for a massage thinking it would be a reputable business, only to find out that they do not speak English and are not licensed. There were flimsy paper dividers to separate the tables within one big room. I felt awkward and uncomfortable. During my massage the masseuse got on the table and he was kneeling over me for half of it. Overall it was not a very relaxing experience, had loud music, phones ringing, customers and employees walking around. Don't think that this is a spa, more like a low budget place. read more

I've been here three times in the past year or so. I have had an excellent massage each time. True that the ambiance here is not a focal point to a visit & true that communication can be a little difficult. However, for me, both ambiance & communication are sufficient enough to enjoy a really good massage at a very reasonable price. On my last, recent, visit, I asked for a deep tissue massage. I had a relatively painful "knot" beneath my left shoulder blade that I had intended to tell the masseuse about so she could focus on that area. Without my saying anything, she worked on that area for a good 20 minutes. She clearly knew that the area needed special attention. And so I give the place five stars because I go there specially for a good and reasonably priced massage and I get a five-star one. read more

I used a groupon for Tao Spa, it was a 60 min. massage for the price of a 30 min. one. It was hands down the worst massage I have ever received! Starting with the bad smell when I walked in, to the massage therapist dripping lotion on my neck and practically rubbing my back raw. When I would yell out in pain, she would giggle and put her head VERY close to mine and say sorry, so sorry. I got up and left after 30 minutes. This person could NOT have been a licensed therapist. Tao is very conveniently located and had a lot of people on staff so there was no wait. Everyone was also very friendly. My massage was ok but not the best I've ever had. It was mostly just rubbing up and down my back until it felt a little raw. There were actually points in wish I just wanted it to be over, and I have never felt that way about a massage before. The massage room was cluttered with stuff, almost like a storage room. There was a lot of commotion outside of the room and people in and out during my massage. Very odd. The prices are very reasonable but it did not match up to spa massages that I have had before. read more

$45 for an hour of deep tissue?? I cannot complain, I know as a fellow massage therapist at my job it's not cheap. The girl I had was so sweet, she didn't speak much english but checked in to make sure the pressure was ok and if I wanted more pressure or not. Absolutely fantastic massage! I got the 60 minute deep tissue massage (I like a strong massage) and this was hands down the best massage I have ever gotten. At first, it did feel a little rushed as some people have mentioned, I honestly believe they are eager to work. Sophia gave me a great full body massage and foot message and I cane out feeling new. The only downside was I asked for a head message and she replied "ok" but never got around to it, later, I found out my lady friend received one without asking. First things first - don't come here expecting a spa. It's not a spa, rather a massage service. Meaning, there's not a ton of privacy, there's a lot of external noise like phones and people going in and out, the music is a bit too loud and jazzy. And, if you get the combo back and foot deal (great deal) know that you'll have to move to another table/room in the middle of the session because the back massage room is too small to access feet :) But, for the incredible rates, you can't beat the massage with just the right amount of pressure. This won't be a trancendental mind/body experience - but if you've got this kink in your back that has been bothering you or just need some knots worked out, this is the place. Won't take the place of my favorite masseuse (who's easily twice the price) but is a good hold over between visits to her. I'll definitely be back. read more

They said they have no proof it was purchased through them even though it has their company name and an employees signature on it. They refuse to honor the gift card! Terrible terrible business!!!!! This was the best massage I've ever gotten and I'm absolutely blown away by the low cost. This is a hidden gem of a massage spa. The staff were as warm and friendly as could be and the deep tissue massage was finally firm enough. I've been to many places where I've left thinking... that was supposed to be deep tissue? It's great to have a place that you can walk into at the last minute to get a massage, great prices ok massage, not the best you will ever have, but it is only 40.00. You get what you pay for, my only real complaint would be that there is a sign up " please leave your underwear on" how ever I can't figure out why they have that sign up, they therapist PULLS DOWN YOUR UNDERWEAR, SO YOUR ASS IS COMPLETELY UNCOVERED. I have had many many massages and was always covered correctly. It's just weird when you get your underwear pulled down to under your butt cheeks, I felt like a bad kid that was going to get a spanking, eww. It would be better if you were just naked to start out with, get proper sheets not a damp towel and learn to cover your client correctly. read more

Very Disappointed. My wife made an appointment here Saturday morning. The appointment was for 2PM, around 12PM she received a text that we should come in at 1:45. So, we arrived at 1:45 as they requested and signed in. They told us to go sit outside and that they would come get us for the appointment at 2PM. I should mention that this past Saturday it was 90+ degrees and humid. Anyhow at 2:15 PM, I went back in to see what was going on, to which they replied - "we've been waiting and are ready NOW for you". Meanwhile they never came out to get us, and offered no apologies for the wait. We ended up walking out. In my opinion, this company needs a complete revamping of their customer service practices. read more
