I've been photographing at skate parks from San Diego to Sacramento. I took a scooter buddy with me when we visited this skate park. It looks really unloved when you enter from the nice parking lot. There is a little bit of everything to ride with a street section including rails and stairs to a strong, tall vert section further from the entrance. It was obvious from various skaters that someone designed this for skateboards. The angles are just extreme enough.

Our first time at this park. We've come to skate! For us, the location is a little remote, but that's alright. It was nice to roll up to a large open parking lot and not too many people crowding the place up. We grabbed our skate stuff and went into the gate of the fenced skatepark. The planners did a good job with the terrain. There were 3 bowl areas (shallow, medium, and deep) and then a separate street area with rails, ledges, ramps, and stairs. Very nice. Although there were quite a few kids in the park, there wasn't one person skating. Every single person there was 'scooting', for realz.. :-( Probably 20 or so kids scooting around; not our cup of tea. Meh..

Great park in a nice neighborhood. The playground is clean and well maintained, and the area is peaceful. I see people walking their dogs, riding bikes, hanging with the kids, or just cruising.

Many years later, I bring my children here and now a few generations later my grandchildren enjoy this park. My dad volunteered at the library at the park for many years and we ended up holding his celebration of life here (both in the rose garden and inside library). I have years of memories of hanging out here using the swimming pool, climbing trees, playing tennis & I used to run around the park when I lived nearby. We had roses planted in the Rose garden for my grandmother, my aunt and a child who died at birth. However, when they were redoing the rose garden, we had to take the plaques with us and now I have my aunts and grandma's plaque in my backyard with the same rose from the original rose garden. Shortly before my mother passed, we brought her to this park in her wheelchair and sat under a tree, enjoying a picnic with three generations of us. Needless to say this park holds numerous cherished memories.

The space was beautiful and easy to decorate, and was perfect for our crowd, and would be perfect for any gathering. There were several metal picnic benches large enough for 9 people per bench and the space had a nice roof/canopy to keep us out of the sun. There were bathrooms close by, so that was very helpful. There was plenty of toilet paper on hand, and a blower to dry your hands but no running water. I would recommend bring a large container of water, and wipes and set up away from the crowd for emergency hand washing. There were also two drinking fountains, but no running water there either. So come prepared.

However, I was having lunch in the area last week and realized I have never reviewed it. The highlight of the park for me is the beautiful World Peace Rose Garden, which is especially stunning right now because all of the roses are in bloom. The gardens' central fountain creates a peaceful atmosphere and makes this a wonderful place to relax and walk around or sit and just enjoy the scenery. I almost always have my dog with me and she loves watching all the squirrels in the park and there are so many settings that make for a great photo ops of her. There are also lots of great manicured paths for me to walk with her. Another thing that I love about this park is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. As the mother of a veteran, I am always very moved by this tribute to those who have served. The statues are incredibly well done and it's a beautiful space for some quiet reflection. Parking can sometimes be hard and expensive, but it's a lovely park where I am rarely bothered, no matter how busy it can get at times. I definitely recommend stopping by if you haven't already and I will continue to return to this park again and again whenever I'm downtown.

We even came on a windy day, and it was still a wonderful place to be. It is so spacious that it's the perfect spot to fly kites. A few of us were flying kites together, and it was such a relaxing, heartwarming experience. It's incredibly family and dog friendly, super roomy, and has so much going on. Because it's so clean and well maintained, this might just become the park I bring my kids to most often, and it is definitely a top choice for hosting future family events! It is perfect for a workout, sports activities, or just letting the kids play. I love the layout, especially how they designed the two separate grass areas where one sits at a lower elevation, while the other is level with the rest of the park. But honestly, what really blew me away was the restroom. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but I'm serious! So many park restrooms are cold, dark, dirty, and lacking privacy. This one felt downright luxurious. It is completely temperature controlled, which was especially nice since it was breezy outside! It was warm, well lit, exceptionally clean, and had absolutely no odor. It even sounded like it had a great ventilation system running. The only minor downside was the lack of toilet seat covers, but that's an easy fix. The entire park feels pretty new with a beautiful, modern design, conveniently located right behind the Sky River Casino. Highly recommend checking it out! Rate: 10/10
