My friend and I had planned to go to the place next door, but it hadn't yet opened for dinner yet,…read moreso we impulsively walked into Sakura instead, and we are so glad we did! It was quiet on an early Sunday evening, but the service was extra attentive and I love the semi-upscale Japanese aesthetic - we were seated next to a pretty aquarium and given cloth napkins and real wooden chopsticks. The vegetarian options excited me the most, and I ordered the Vegetarian Duck Teriyaki. It was really interesting because I'd never had any duck-related veg food, so I had to try it. The teriyaki flavor was a bit overwhelming, maybe too much sauce, but I still gobbled it up. My friend would have given her actual duck teppanyaki dish and the whole experience five stars, she loved it so much. I would definitely go back and try another one of their veg dishes! Winchester, it seems like this place isn't super well known yet, but you don't know what you're missing!

Love the ambience and presentation of this cozy restaurant. We shared a table on this busy day,…read morewhich was fine by me. They had specials on the board, so I chose sashimi over rice with miso soup, while my kid chose the ramen. The food is billed as homemade Japanese food. I felt their take on Japanese food was just OK, despite the presentation being beautiful. For my dish, the amount of rice was overwhelming compared to the sashimi, which was cut very thin compared to sashimi I'm used to , so the imbalance made little sense. I left a large clump of rice despite the effort. Ramen is something we've had so much of in different restaurants, but their take with their broth was below average. (I should mention my kid was very happy though. It's just my picky take) I'd say this is a fun little stop on a cute street, with food not being the star.
