My friend and I had planned to go to the place next door, but it hadn't yet opened for dinner yet,…read moreso we impulsively walked into Sakura instead, and we are so glad we did! It was quiet on an early Sunday evening, but the service was extra attentive and I love the semi-upscale Japanese aesthetic - we were seated next to a pretty aquarium and given cloth napkins and real wooden chopsticks. The vegetarian options excited me the most, and I ordered the Vegetarian Duck Teriyaki. It was really interesting because I'd never had any duck-related veg food, so I had to try it. The teriyaki flavor was a bit overwhelming, maybe too much sauce, but I still gobbled it up. My friend would have given her actual duck teppanyaki dish and the whole experience five stars, she loved it so much. I would definitely go back and try another one of their veg dishes! Winchester, it seems like this place isn't super well known yet, but you don't know what you're missing!

Pretty much all of the Sushi available is traditional, in-keeping with the decor, as apposed to being "Trendy" sushi. They have Saporro and Asahi on tap, which is nice, and they also server Sake both hot and cold. In all honesty, it's a good job this place isn't walking distance from where I live, or I would spend a fortune in there! It gets busy, so it is best to book. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

The main "problem" with Wagamama is the bench-style seating since my husband needs a chair with a back (arms too would be helpful). We've walked away from one of these restaurants because they had nothing suitable to offer us, the Harrow one will bring a chair from the outside seating inside for us and, on this occasion, we were offered seating up at the far end (where the staff go for lunch) which was adequate as it was padded seating against the back wall.

When we initially got to the place we had to wait to be seated as it was quite busy. When we did eventually get seated, we were waiting at least 15 mins before someone came to take our order. The food came quicker though. I had chilli squid (always a fav of mine and it didn't disappoint this time!) and the wagamama ramen. Now I've never had ramen before so I thought I'd try it. I've got to say, although the presentation is great, it's not really one for me. I just found it too bland. The portion size however is really quite generous. Once we had finished our food, it took very long for us to get our bill, even after the waiter had taken our plates and we had refused dessert. I can understand the slow service when it's busy, but it had quietened down a lot by this time and the restaurant was practically half empty! Although I love wagas I've got to say I was disappointed by the service in this particular branch.

I normally go when it's quiet as I'm normally dinning alone and I have never felt out of place. I have sat at the kitchen bar and also in the main seating area. I've not experience the chef cook in front of me at the kitchen bar. I have experienced this type of cooking in Glasgow before. I should go on a busier night to see the chefs in action. I always opt for a teriyaki dish, I've had chicken and duck, both absolutely beautiful from the Charcoal Grill section. I normally also have sushi, tuna Maguro being my favourite. Their tempura is also absolutely delicious. All this talking about it is making me hungry. Hehe! I can't wait to go back when I head down to visit next year. So, if you're ever stuck for somewhere to go for some decent food, head to Yo-Ji.
