Fresh fish of the day can be seen in the front window, skilled chefs are working away and a couple of water tanks for the live seafood are visible from the dining room. I had a crab soup which was surprisingly delicious, similar to a lobster bisque. Fresh bread started us off, warm from the oven and soft inside. I chose a special of the day, the fish was tender and flavourful, melting off the bone and infused with lemon and capers. My partners dish of hake with risotto was absolutely delicious, something I'd order if I were to go back. All In all a lovely dining experience in a scenic location. Nevertheless, the service was great - friendly & professional. The food was exceptional - I had the Nicoise salad starter, sea bass en papilotte main, and limoncello panna cotta dessert. Everything was wonderful, but the sea bass was absolutely divine. Incredibly aromatic and the fish was cooked perfectly. (Everyone else seemed very happy with their food, too - it all looked great as well!) It's a small restaurant right on the canal in the center of town. I would imagine that reservations are required for regular dinner service. It's not inexpensive, but I felt the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food. If I'm ever in Weymouth again, I'll certainly return if I can.

I selected three courses from the main menu whilst my partner choose three courses from the special menu that is a retrospective celebration of their 25th Anniversary. The selections available on both menus was varied with nice additional touches such as alcohol free mocktails for drivers. The food was fresh, of a high quality and well portioned, to the extent that you could enjoy the three courses without feeling stuffed to the gunnels. Preparation and presentation were above normal and it's clear that the kitchen team know what they are doing. The only course that was anything close to a bit of a let down was my dessert, which was basically a slice of loaf cake with a couple of slices of "caramelised" oranges - they treated for all the world like a couple of slices of regular quality oranges to me. Whilst not cheap the regular menu isn't overly expensive either. A fair price for good food. The 25th Anniversary menu was great value though at £25 for 3 courses and a glass of perfectly acceptable fizz. The only changes I would make would be to update the printed menus which would be more at home in a pub. Also I'd increase the space separating the tables to allow diners to feel a touch more secluded. The restaurant is decidedly informal, far from huge and a little on the snug side for a truly intimate meal - but it is definitely a small, good quality restaurant right at the heart of Weymouth's quayside and one that I hope to visit again. **TIPS** Book! Even on a Tuesday night at the beginning of May it was busy, obviously loved by the locals. Initially put off by the expensive Clifton price tag, I now can't believe I've stayed away for so long. (Or at least not noticed that they do a lunchtime offer!) At Rockfish they are serious about fresh fish cooked to perfection. When I opted for the lunchtime special we picked two courses for £15 which were absolutely delicious. (My favourite being their house special of grilled seabass). If you have any questions about any of the dishes, the helpful waiters will be happy to answer your questions as they are very knowledgeable about the produce on sale here. Can't wait to go back!
