I was referred to Tangs Alterations by Steve at Shinbaums so I thought it would be a great place despite the reviews on yelp. I should've known. I took my wedding dress to be hemmed and shoulder straps taken in. It was 2pm on a a Wednesday and there were so many people in there. I changed into my dress and she asked me to walk up in the platform. She started cutting the bottom of my dress even though I tried to explain to her what the dress maker told me about the hem since it was a delicate fabric. She argued and explained why she was doing it this way. She seemed too busy and annoyed at my questions. She took up and pinned the shoulder gave me my ticket and sent me on my way saying it'll be done in a week. I came back a week and a half later. The hem was sloppily stitched and uneven where you could see the inner fabric from the back. The shoulder straps weren't done so she asked me to come back in 30 minutes. When I came back the shoulder straps were folded over and sewn that way. The fabric is see through so you can tell the straps are folded over. I just paid and left. I was very upset they ruined my dress. That store reminds me of being stationed at Osan. Never again. read more

Went in with 6 dresses that needed to be taken in. Only one was needed by next Friday. They first tried to send me to a different location which I didn't want to go to due to convenience/ease. I asked her to at least do the one dress. She made up reasons why it couldn't be done. I won't be back. read more

Despite any negative reviews Tangs Alterations may have, I have always been Extremely Pleased with them!! I have been to many tailors before I found Tangs. Tangs has never let me down and they are by far the best. My whole wordrobe has been adjusted and tailored by them and they have done a Phenomenal Job!! Took five pair of pants to get altered and she charged $14 per pair. I think the prices are too high. In addition, my wife went one day to pick them up with a 3 and 1 year old and she made her wait about 10 mins before she acknowledged her. Then she lacked customer service and was unfriendly. I will definitely not recommend the place to anyone. Don't go their find another place. read more

In the past I have had nothing but good things to say about Tangs. Unfortunately, I trusted them with my beautiful lace wedding dress. When I got it, late, it was ruined. The hem was uneven, and being lace, they had cut off the excess. They attempted to piece it back together, resulting in, what looked like a bad home ec project. Because it was 4 days before my wedding, I had to take it. I was so upset by the hem, I failed to notice that only one strap had been altered and the other was only pinned. What upsets me most, is that they never offered me an apology and expected me to pay full price. I am a flight attendant, was unable to get a detailed receipt to turn in for expense report was told unable to print one or write one because too busy nor are they able to fax it or email it to my company. So since I was unable to get itemized receipt I was unable to get refund from company. read more

I made a Yelp account just to write a review for this place. DO NOT go here. I wish I could give this place a 0. I just moved to the area and was needing my bridesmaid dress altered. There were straps that came with the dress that just needed to be sewn on. When I first went in and tried the dress on for her to pin the straps in the correct place they were not even or pinned where I wanted them. She preceded to tell me that "it was fine". After asking her numerous times to make it tighter she did and I paid my $35 and was told to come back in a week...not a problem. My fiance picked up my dress for me and brought it to my out of town wedding in Kansas City. So yes, it was my fault for not trying the dress on prior to the "big day." Needless to say the straps were not even sewn on they were put on with a hook and eye which fell off and the straps were WAYYYY too big to the point that I had to safety pin my entire dress. When I got back to Montgomery I called Tang's and told her the issue and she repeatedly told me I wasn't in her system (even though she performed the alterations herself) after she told me to come in I brought the dress and there was a customer that she was currently helping so I patiently waited my turn. When she asked me what I was there for I whispered my complaints (so the other customer didn't hear me) and told her that I just wanted a refund since the dress was not done properly. After she insisted on helping 2 other customers that came in after me...she walked over to her computer where she once again told me that I was not in her system. Since I knew this was going to happen I pulled up my bank statement showing that I paid. She flew open her cash register handed me $35 and put her hand in my face and told me to leave. I was actually planning on giving her a 2nd chance but after she pretty much kicked her out of her store, I was so upset. It was not my fault the dress was not done properly that was her fault but for some reason she thought that I should not have asked for a refund. Sorry to vent but I just hope nobody has to have an experience like mine. SO in conclusion, she is rude, she doesn't do what you ask, she does a terrible job, and her customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. read more
