I stopped by today Wednesday at 1pm for a manicure and pedicure and was told in a snarky tone that they were too busy to help me today because they only had 2 people working and that it was prom. A customer in a chair waiting (the only one actually waiting) said "their lazy" - I think she was right! High school kids were still in school so I'm gonna guess prom really wasn't why they couldn't see me on a Wednesday at 1 pm. I would have been happy to wait .... Disappointed. Surprisingly, the more upscale spa by Harris Teeter was happy to see me- only had a 10 minute wait. Prom didn't keep them too busy to welcome a new customer. This other salon was much more clean and more spacious than Day Dream. The staff were also more friendly and helpful.

My neighbors suggested here since they had been, but they had only gotten gel manicure and a pedicure. I get acrylic nails and keep them pretty lengthy so I'm a bit particular at times. This is located in the shopping center near the Food Lion and shares a parking lot with the other businesses on the strip. Sometimes parking is scarce depending on the day and time, but it's still available. They require you to wear a mask and have you complete and sign a waiver upon entering. They also provide temperature checks as well. I've not made an appointment, so they are accepting walk-ins. There are plenty of stations for nails and pedicures as well as plenty of technicians. Overall I've been pleased. The salon is clean and all the staff wears mask as well. The prices are comparable to other nail salons and I feel they are fair. I pay $40 for a fill-in with gel polish which is average for most salons. They do a good job with my nails and take their time. They also provide hot stone back/shoulder massage with your service and warm towels for your hands when your nails are complete. There are not many nail salons in the area and it's extremely convenient for me so I will definitely be back and recommend it if you live in the area. The things that I liked about it was that it wasn't like some of the other Clayton Salons that are "tragically hip" and you pay for the atmosphere, and also it didn't seem to cater towards small kids or teens. I must also say that one of the reasons I chose Clayton Hair Salon is I saw on the website that their Manicurist is Becky Gordon, and she had done my nails at another place a few years ago and she is AMAZING. Her shop is in an adorable old historic-style home in Clayton's beautiful little downtown area, and there is plenty of parking available. She took me on a tour and every room was done very professionally. She offered me a drink but I had brought one in. A lot of the times I'll notice the tech will immediately start my nails after someone else's, so I'm not sure how that would leave time for them to clean the tools,files,etc that they're using before starting on someone new. I was so sad to see Lisa go because she had been doing my nails for almost a year, but Tony has made the transition wonderful. Tony is patient, kind, professional, and always willing to do whatever I ask. He also makes suggestions for other services that might make me feel good, relax, and enjoy my spa day. He's always telling me, "Get a pedicure--you'll like it!" I love that about him. He is also incredibly talented and creative with nail art. I've even watched him stop to help his mother when one of her clients asks for a special design. I don't mind at all because that is simply Tony's nature--if he can help, he will. I recently started getting Cat Eye nails, and I absolutely LOVE them! Once other people started noticing and complimenting my nails, I really realized just how beautiful they looked. They also hold up wonderfully until it's time for my next set. I left the salon today feeling GREAT with my newest set: pink Cat Eye nails for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with Tony's extra signature touch--a beautiful white ribbon on my ring finger.
