I went into the Tangled Hair Salon today with apprehension-I was trying out a new salon for the first time after moving to a new city; the idea was a bit stressful. BUT what I thought would be a routine touch-up turned into something much more meaningful. Let me start off by describing the salon. I have never seen just a jolly group of stylists! I was greeted by several people as soon as I walked in. Great music was playing, everyone (stylists and clients) looked like they were having a blast. It's nice to see people so visibly passionate for what they do! Now, let me move on to my personal experience and how I unintentionally mucked up my hair. Today I had the pleasure to meet with Lauran and Christina, both of whom I found incredibly friendly, professional, and talented. I entered the salon with pink hair (after one of those 'GO CRAZY; DYE YOUR HAIR PINK' moments). Little did I know that that colourful decision had severely damaged by hair; so much so that Laura in good conscience could not go ahead with my desired highlights. Now this is where I was really impressed by the salon. They could have gone ahead and given me what I wanted and ultimately damaged my hair further, but they didn't. Laura and Christina took the time to educate me on my hair's current state. Christina wanted to know the types of products I use and how I take care of my hair-clearly I needed to do more. Laura was clear in what she would be able to do to my hair that day and gave me a one month goal: I had to do my homework to take care of my hair and then return in a month to get my highlights. I was given a hair treatment to start the healing process and my colour was toned to the desired platinum/silver shade. The pink is not even visible- Laura was able to lift it like a boss! Did I get exactly what I expected? No- and it was my fault. But now my hair in on the road to healing to appoint where I CAN get what I want. I would have continued to abuse my hair had I not received such honest service from the ladies at Tangled and for thank I am truly grateful. In the end, my hair looked awesome- the tone was beautiful and the cut and style were perfection. All the while, I got to meet some awesome ladies, jam to some killer 80's music, and learn a bit more about self-care (self-hair-care?). Thank you ladies, for you kindness, honestly, and overall fabulousness. I can't wait to come back next month! read more

This isn't just going to be a review, this will be a true story. I have been going to Christina for approximately 15 years, and have followed her and WILL follow her. When she opened her first salon in the Pickering village I was there, and when she moved locations to the new and improved Tangled I followed. One of the reasons is that it IS a friendly atmosphere, the knowledgeable and professional staff continue to make me feel like I belong. As I read some of the reviews, I feel like whomever, J.P or C.N. is really is not telling a true story, and to mention another salon in their reviews is so catty and uncouth and to be perfectly honest a little suspicious. That said, it really isn't about the other reviews rather than my own experiences, I have walked into that stunning clean salon a wreck, coming out feeling like I was a superstar. My hair always looks and feels amazing, the esthetitician is superlative. I can go on and on, they look after you like no other and I have recommended, family, friends, co-workers and they have nothing but rave reviews. Christina puts her heart and soul into the business (you can tell by the looks of it) and also into her clients, I am one of them that has hard to manage hair and she seems to have managed it with ease. So hat's off to a fantastic salon, hat's off to Christina and for making me feel like I can walk out of there with my hair held high! Cheers. Connie. read more

I know that I am pretty late but I got my hair done for my prom which was around end of June this year and I would like to thank Tangled Hair Studio for their exceptional care and courtesy. I called about 3 or 4 days before my prom date and they had a spot available! (super grateful for that already since every other place I called was fully booked). When I arrived, I was about 5 minutes late and I was not very prepared for my appointment (which was my fault) but Laura (the stylist I had for my appointment) was still VERY kind to me and helped me quickly decide on a hairstyle. I am a very nervous person when it comes to my hair because I have a lot of long hair and wasn't sure if it would look good. Well, I had nothing to be worried about. I was stunned at how beautiful my hair looked and how it was done in about an hour. (plus the price was very reasonable). Laura from Tangled Hair Studio, I cannot thank you enough for helping make one of the best nights of my life so great with the beautiful hairstyle. I will be visiting soon for my haircut and I also want to try a facial!! haha read more

A great beauty salon! ALL hairstylists are very good - I watched all of them work. I appreciate no end the fact that they listen to one's hair concerns and always give good advice. They saved me from bad choices more than once. The esthetician, is very knowledgeable and has the lightest touch, while being very effective. The salon is pleasant and very clean. There is a great atmosphere. All the ladies are extremely nice and genuinely interested in providing the best service. P.S. Some people see "race" in everything. I don't know what bit the lady with the review that accused somebody of being racist, but she could not be further from the truth! Actually, she REALLY got it wrong : at least 3 of the ladies at this salon (that I know of) have been married to black people and/or have mixed race children! (And, by the way, "Hispanic' is not a race, it's community based on language!) read more

I've had many friends recommend that I try out this studio, because the cut was amazing, atmosphere was fun and the service was incredible. I can tell you now that my friends were all bang on! Where has this place been all my life?? From the minute I walked in, everyone in there had a smile on their face and was genuinely having a good time. The clients and stylists both. Of course, none of that would matter if I walked out hating my new cut and style. But I'm absolutely in LOVE with it! They did such an amazing job! I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair before! Now I feel like a million bucks every time I walk out my front door! Can't say enough how much I recommend this studio :) read more

I saw Laura. I came in for a consult, then arranged an appointment. Laura was great in answering my never ending questions and was happy to offer different possible solutions. Laura did the BEST highlights I have ever had! I love a natural look and that is exactly what I got. She is friendly and HONEST, something that I value. This is the day after I left the salon and I've seen my hair in the daylight and it is gorgeous. I just LOVE it. There is one small problem - Jennifer Aniston called me... she wants her hair back :) read more

I had a toner and haircut done by Anne Marie today. Everyone at the studio was lovely. They were diligent about COVID-19 precautions, sanitizing each time someone moved chairs. I explained to Anne Marie what my goals were (tone down any brassiness in my highlights and blend choppy layers from my last cut). I told her to exercise her own good judgment on how to accomplish those goals, and she did a great job. She picked a great toner colour for me, and she blended the old cut into a great new one. Will definitely be going back. read more

I'm not much of an online reviewer, but with an experience like this I felt I had to share. I've always found my hair hard to style, and have always thought that my hair was the problem. But my cut a few weeks ago has completely changed my mind. I don't even have to blow-dry my hair anymore - I air-dry it and it looks better than any blow-out I've ever given myself! The layers are just amazing. The staff were also fantastic, and on top of that the salon is beautiful. I think I've just discovered my favourite salon! read more

I struggle with depression and anxiety. Sometimes I let my hair go (pulled back into a mom bun) and loose sight of taking care of myself, in the midst of caring for others. When I make the time to come in and get my hair done, I have felt embraced, not embarrassed. I have felt appreciated as a person, not just a customer. I greatly appreciate the care I receive from this business. read more

I have thick hair and I have partial grey. Laura did a fantastic job of highlighting and she also added some of my natural colour under the top layer so it will grow out nicely. It looks amazing.! She also did a fantastic job cutting and thinning out my thick hair and she listens to what you want. I am very happy with my hair and I am very fussy! Tina N read more

Great hair cut and staff! It was my first hair cut through COVID and the process felt very organized and safe. Everyone was super friendly. I had Christina (sorry if I'm misspelling!) and she was wonderful. It was my first time cutting my hair short and I was a little nervous, but she made me feel very comfortable and I love how it turned out! read more

A friend told me to try this place, I'm so glad she did. The salon itself is really nice and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Many times in the past I have left other Salons completely disappointed. But, not this time! When I left Tangled I came out loving the cut and style. Go give them a try, you won't be disappointed!!!! read more

I had the most amazing experience at this salon. I came a little before my appointment and he saw me right away. He absolutely blew my mind when he did everything I asked for and made my hair look better than its every been before. He was a man with salt-and-pepper hair and green eyes. 100 perfect recommend. My third time going here... and i LOVE IT. the people, skill and vibe is unmatchable. i have only ever gotten my hair trimmed here (i don't dye my hair), and every single time i have been more than satisfied with the result. During covid, they are also doing a GREAT job social distancing and sanitizing. 10/10 recommend. read more
