My 2 year old and I absolutely LOVE this salon! This is the only place where he doesn't cry or have to sit in my lap. Before my first trip to here, I let his hair get way too long because I was dreading taking him to get it cut but trying out Tangle Free was the best decision for my son! It was such an amazing experience for both of us. As a mother of an autistic son, I had SUPER high hopes for this place. Hair cuts are always tough, and stressful, so the thought of that being eased a little was exciting. I made an appointment for my son, and they were able to get him in on short notice. Bonus points! We get to our appointment five minutes early. But the front door was locked. I could hear people inside, so I figured an appointment ran late. So we waited a while. Tried the door again. Still locked. Walked around. Check the door still locked. After 14min my 6yr old was not having it. Especially because he was promised a treat after his haircut. At no point were we acknowledged by the person inside. I called the number I used to schedule the appointment. No answer. But I did get a text. The interaction was honestly not how I expected a business to respond to an error on their part. When you advertise being ASD friendly, making young clients wait a long amount of time is silly. I do understand things not going as planned, but let your customer know the situation. Don't leave an autistic 6yr old standing outside for 14min past appointment time, without an explanation. Not to mention we live no where near the location of this shop. We drove 25min to get this haircut. Have a better time buffer people!. Not to mention in my text interaction, I was told that the person inside DID see me, but that I was standing at the wrong door(the door to their business and the "wrong door" were inches apart). I was outside of their business. Which had a folding sign with their business name. Regardless, If you saw me, why not at least acknowledge me? Instead of a great experience, I ended up with a long haired child, a chunk of time/gas wasted, and an extremely upset boy. Not a good experience. I will say, I was offered 20% off, which was very kind, but not worth me trying this place again. I would not recommend. read more

Haircuts have been a challenge for us, but our experience with Tangle-Free Low Sensory Salon has changed that! Lacey was extremely kind and flexible to my son's sensory needs. We were able to fill out a form beforehand, which made me feel less anxious knowing they wanted to know about his needs. Rather than my child accommodating to her needs, she accommodated to his and I think this is something every children's hair salon should practice. My daughter had wanted a drastic hair cut for a long time and she finally got it at Tangle Free! She doesn't have any sensory sensitivities but we still both loved our experience at the salon. Great place! My son has ADHD and cannot sit still. He fidgets a lot and has sensory issues. Cannot stand the feeling of hair on him. We came here to give it a try and this was the first tear free haircut! We will definitely be back. The staff is kind, accommodating and excellent with kids. They have lots of sensory toys they let them play with while cutting their hair and I was surprised at how she was able to move around with my son to cut his hair. Was great not to have to try and force him to sit still because he didn't have to and she knew how to work with him. He walked away smiling with the exact hair cut he wanted! Happy mama! read more

My son is 6, and Lacey does an amazing job carefully cutting my sons hair and ensuring that he is safe and his needs are met. We have been coming here since they opened and are so thankful for the services they provide! This salon is a special place for anyone that may have sensory issues when getting their hair cut. The loud noises of a salon, phones ringing, doors opening, lots of talking, the buzzers, and a blow dryer are all items that create sensory issues for many, especially kids with Autism and or others that may have exceptional needs and Tangle Free is a salon that does not have those distractions. This salon and environment has become a safe comfort place for many. Lacey engages my child and with respect and positivity and meets them at their level for their hair cut. This Salon is amazing and Lacey will meet the customer at their level which means she will get on the ground with a child that needs it, allow them to play with toys in their toy area as needed while getting their hair cut, and she will even cut a child's hair outside if that's what makes them more comfortable etc. She is flexible in her approach which is an amazing comfort for many. She makes it so that these children or adults are getting their hair cut in a 1:1 type of environment without any other distractions or people in a low light environment. She provides positive encouragement and just a caring heart when customers may experience certain sensitivities. She helps to apply new techniques to help people overcome certain sensory fears and issues. She helps create a safe place for children and their families to come and get their hair cut without feeling rushed or embarrassed such as in a corporate location. She has swings for children to use to decompress and special low sensory clippers and scissors that again meet the needs of children and adults that are very sensitive to certain experiences. My son is 4 and has autism. I have taken him here a few times and had good experiences the first couple times. The third time not so much. My son was sitting through his haircut and I noticed the barber moving fast with the clippers. Then my son started to scream and I noticed blood running down his ear and neck. She immediately denied cutting his ear with the clippers and suggested that I must've brought him in there like that. Wow. I understand accidents happen, a little accountability would've been nice. My son was too upset to have his hair finished, I still paid, then left and have never gone back. Haven't been able to cut his hair since the incident. He is now terrified of having his haircut, and every time we've tried, he cries thinking his ear will get cut. read more

Omg. I can't believe I found this place. My son is almost 4 and has some sensory sensitivities so haircuts for him are next to impossible. I stumbled upon this place on a google search and immediately booked an appointment. The salon is dimly lit and very welcoming for children and adults. My kids immediately ran off to play. Lacey asked us about what we'd like done and then started to trim our sons hair while he played. He moved all around the room, even took his shoes off and got comfortable, she just followed him around until he fought it enough that we had to hold him. She used some very quiet clippers and some fast scissor work and his haircut was done. She stayed calm the whole time, and kept saying reassuring words to my son to keep him comfortable. Even though he was having a meltdown, it was way less severe than he's had at other salons for children. His haircut is amazing , he looks so handsome , the best haircut he's had since his very first cut. I cannot recommend this place enough and will absolutely be back. read more
