Tanger 1 and 2 are the best outlets I've ever visited because they are TRUE outlets. At least in my experience. I went here twice in my 3 days in the HHI area. By true outlet, I mean you can actually get GREAT discounts and price cuts, the selection is vast and Tanger is home to some brands that you won't see at just every 'outlet' center. To make my point: I got a pair of gorgeous shoes from Vince Camuto for $21 that were originally $130! I bought several items from the Off Saks store at huge price cuts. (The Off Saks is amaze here) Same with J Crew (current season items). The Justice girls store has a huge selection and I purchased an originally $50 backpack for $18. And I encountered prices in the kids Osh Kosh store like I NEVER see at Washington DC and VA-area outlets. The only thing I regret about my trip to Tanger is not bringing double or triple the money because I made my dollars work for me up in there! Plus it's so...beautiful. And scenic. And clean. And even over Memorial Day weekend it was never congested or annoying. True love. read more

There are two Tanger outlets. I think my wife and I went to both. Probably won't find any bargains, but you will find major brand names and a good representation of merchandise. I was somewhat misled twice which I'm guessing is standard marketing fare for these places. read more

Normally we come out of here with bags from at least four stores. I don't know if the heat wilted us, if we're all burnt out on this place, if the items available just sucked, but everyone pretty much latched onto one store, bought something random and then rushed back home to watch their favorite soccer team lose in high definition. Tanger One is scheduled to re-open in Fall 2011. If they're planning to rebuild it, hopefully they make a silk purse out of a sow's ear this time. It was a sad ghost town before, and it'd be a shame for them to just rebuild a shinier ghost town now. read more

Outlet Mall Extraordinaire! If you love to shop, while in Hilton Head, you've got to experience the Tanger Outlet Center. The prices in these top of the line stores are not too terribly better than other stores, But, I don't regularly shop at high end stores...One hint is to head to the back of the store where the "70% off racks" are located. The facilities themselves are top of the line, very nice and with COLD air-conditioning!!! read more

We came to SC for a wedding and had a free day to explore Bluffton. While here we found the Tanger Outlet mall and spent the whole day here. This is your typical Outlet mall with plenty of big name shops and low prices. If you have a day to kill, this is the place to be. Plenty of parking but this mall is divided into two sections. Normally this isn't a big deal but the tanger 2 is not across the street... you have to get into your car and drive to the next section. Just more of an inconvenience than anything. They had a very nice selection of merchandise and great prices. I will say that each shop had very friendly staff that went above and beyond to help us. Very clean too! read more

Spent a couple of hours in the afternoon on a rainy day there. Drove between two outlets. Many good stores, selections and sales. Every store we went into we were acknowledged by employees from the minute we walked in as well as when we left. When we left every store wished us a nice day. I was amazed at how helpful and friendly staff were. This is the best Tanger outlet I've been to from service received to all the variety of all the stores I love. Tanger one outlet is my preference of the two. Wish we had more time to shop. I'd go back for sure. read more

I am not a huge shopper. But we stopped here a few times while on vacation. They had sales every day going on....so you really had to know what something should cost to determine a good deal. You can get a coupon book if you go by the customer service desk and have AAA or AARP cards. otherwise you pay for the coupon book. The place is clean. The stores we went in were clean and well stocked. Workers were nice. And we got some deals. read more

This is your typical Tanger Outlet. It is a little odd as there are two sections of the outlet separated by about half a mile or so. Both labeled one and two. Both have the look of totally different outlets. One is the typical cookie cutter look of a Tanger that you see most anywhere. The other has the stores you would typically see at Tanger but has a distinctly different look and layout from what you see at other Tanger Outlets. This one can be somewhat confusing in its layout and maybe tough to find the exact store you are looking for. But it is certainly more pleasing from an aesthetic standpoint. Parking seems ample. Also, there seems to be a more upscale crowd at these outlets. Honestly, most seemed to have more local plates, too, which I find odd given the location. So, standard outlets. Clean. Good parking. Odd layout. 3 stars. read more

After finally choosing a vacation spot on Hilton Head Island, I immediately researched the surrounding area. Much to my surprise, I found this outlet mall. Since most of my family loves to shop, we went to go check it out. Usually, when places say they are an outlet mall it turns out to be only one ACTUAL outlet store and the rest are regular stores. But, not the Tanger Outlets. I found quite a few actual outlet stores which made me very happy. Before I get into my experience, I will review some of the basics. We went in October, so there weren't too many people there. It appeared to be lots of parking and we had no trouble getting to the malls. Note how I used the plural form of mall. This Tanger Outlet is made of two SEPARATE strip malls. There is Tanger 1 and Tanger 2. Drive between them, do not walk. Safety is the priority here! You can find public bathrooms in between the stores. I recommend going to the shopper service area for some coupons (I'll talk more about this later). Here was how my trip went: We drove to Tanger 1 and found a parking spot. Then, we made our way to shopper service to get a coupon book. I believe we got them for free because of AAA. However, they had a promotion going on. If you paid $20, they gave you about 10 passes. These allowed you to receive 25% of ANY single item at the participating stores. The $20 would go to some charity and you saved lots of money. In case you were wondering, the participating stores had a sticker on the window to let us know if we could use the coupon. After that, we looked around at some stores. Bath & Body Works, Kate Spade, Under Armour, etc. I got something at Panera and we proceeded to Tanger 2. My brother was tired of shopping, so after we parked, he stayed at Panera until it was time to go. Now, Tanger 2 was my favorite area by far because of two stores. The Abercombie and Hollister Outlet. I know what you might be thinking- "I hate that store with a passion" or "It is soooo dark and soooo smelly in there". Let me say that I respectfully disagree and here is why. I have heard very little on these stores. For the longest time, I thought the stores in my mall were the only A&F and Holster stores in the world. That annoyed me because I don't like paying the sometimes outrageous prices. But, then I heard about these outlet versions and I thought there was salvation for me after all. You can tell the difference even before you step foot inside. There was no loud music and no apparent smell if you walk by it. When you enter, the room is brightly lit and there was little fragrance. The best part was the insane prices. For example, at Abercrombie there were shirts for my sister. Originally priced at $24, but we paid....$2.49 EACH. I have to say there were more savings/selection for girls. The stores were 70% girls, 30% boys. Girls clothing was discounted way more than boys, but I still managed to get some cheap stuff. At this side of the mall was also some more clothing stores for every age and gender. Overall there was so many savings, insanely kind employees, and just a great day. Actually, we went back a day later to Tanger 2 because it started to rain before we could check out the Abercrombie and Fitch. Highly recommended place to come by if you live near here (lucky) or are just vacationing. read more

Sorry Tanger. This outlet mall is not up to snuff right now. It has about half the stores I'm used to seeing. And I realize that you are rebuilding Tanger I and that Tanger II is just temporarily holding some stores right now, but you better have some serious clients lined up because, no Nautica, no Reebok, no Adidias, no J Crew, no upscale outlets (think Armani, Versace, Gucci), an undersized Polo store, and no food court ain't cutting it. The outlet mall close to Indy doesn't nearly have the footprint, but three times the stores. Lemme upgrade ya! read more

The Tanger is a great place to spend a few hours. You have to shop through to find great deals from your favorite brands, but there are deals to be had. Frequently, these stores go out of business and you can get deeper discounts. read more

Ok I'm an outlet psycho, I love them. I have been to outlets all over America (this is a fact I am not particularly proud of...having just typed that)...but this place really misses the mark. I have been to other tanger outlets even...and this one just does not have great stuff. It only has a gap/nike/tommy etc type of stores. Not even a jcrew? Honestly this place is not even worth the stop. Spend your day at the beach and save the outlet shopping for somewhere else. read more

This Tanger Outlet center has a lot of your typical outlet mall stores such as Banana Republic, Nine West, and Columbia along with some great high-end retailers like Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Off 5th, and Le Creuset. I really enjoyed taking a cloudy day away from our beach house to explore this plaza. The only challenging part of the Tanger Outlets is that there are two separate centers located a couple minutes apart, which requires driving and re-parking to get from Tanger 1 to Tanger 2. read more

We go to the outlets every year when we're in Hilton Head on vacation. Every year they just get worse. While some of the stores have clearance racks with really good discounts the majority of the stuff if pretty expensive. We found many items priced the same as they were in non outlet stores back home. read more

I love going to this mall, I can't go a lot because Im an hour away. Good thing because I'd be broke by now shopping so much at this place. It has so much sales!! I got a bunch of 30 or 40 dollar things at abercrombie&fitch and hollister for 6.95 or 9.95(usually the sale price) I went to this ice cream place and had some praline ice cream! WOW AND YUMMY!!! That was after i went to the coach store and bought this cute brown purse for like 55 dollars when it was 200 AND something dollars. Great Deals, I love this outlet mall. read more

I was at Tanger Hilton Head on Saturday, April 27th and I went into shopper services at Tanger 2. It was about 10:00. I wanted to get the Earth Day $10.00 gift card. I walked into shopper services and I could not open the app, so I asked the women working if they were having trouble with their wifi and her response was that it is not working. I showed her I had the Tanger app. She responded that she could not issue the gift card because she needed the code. I am sure that she knew the code. I was always under the impression that a customer service representative was suppose to go above and beyond to help a customer. I can assure you I will never shop at Tanger in Hilton Head again. If I have the desire to shop at a Tanger I will go to the outlet in Pooler! read more

I was very disappointed with this outlet. I took my 10 yr old daughter for some back to school shopping. Several of the stores do not participate/accept Tanger coupons ex. Justice where prices are the same as at home. Stopped in the Vans store for a pair of shoes for my daughter - 3 people were working (2 stayed in back room and 1 was with a customer) After standing around for a while I apologized to the person with the customer and asked if they accepted Tanger coupons. She replied that they did not. We went to H & M where they sell school age boys clothes but not girls. The employee said they sell girls clothes in the Savannah store. Last stop was the Columbia store - was ready to ck out w/rain jacket (yay they accept Tanger coupons) could not get coupon due to spotty wi-fi- asked a very harried female employee about issue and she told me I would have to go to guest services (other end of outlet)and get coupon. Pretty nice as far as outlet malls go with a pretty good selection. It's nicely maintained and clean. There are two separate sections that are about a mile apart, so if you can't find what you're looking for you may have to drive to the other location. We started out at Tanger 1 for the Grand Opening on 03/31/2011. It was nice, but on the smaller side. The Panera bread made a great spot for breakfast. I suggest eh Power Sandwich.. about 350 calories and just awesome. After we walked around, we decided to go to Tanger 2 (a mile down the road). Tanger 2 had lots more stores and we enjoyed it alot more than Tanger 1. Overall, it was a great shopping trip, I got lots of cute spring and summer clothes. read more

I've been coming to Tanger 1&2 for over 20 years and love them. I love to shop and love a bargain and while you do have to be a savvy shopper to find the bargains...they can be found. My only suggestion is to get more high-end outlet stores. I miss the Vince Camuto store! read more

I've been visiting this location since the late 80's. It used to be the Low Country Outlets, and at some point they added the second location. I realize I sound like a grumpy old man, but it's not what it used to be. Outlets used to be more like shopping at TJ Maxx, where you found a lot of closeout or slightly irregular merchandise. I think it was somewhere in the 90's that outlet stores became just like regular stores, except usually a little lower quality than the mall version of these brands. If you're willing to take the time, and do some prep work you can still find a good deal. I was pretty disappointed with the coupon book, in most cases you had to spend a lot to get a discount. On my latest trip, I managed to score some nice clearance items, but the regular stuff didn't seem any cheaper than places like Belk. As far as the location it's great. The stores are clean, parking is easy, and the bathrooms are outstanding. Also the customer service always seems to be great. I wish they had a few more stores, with deeper discounts. read more
