My nail tech is no longer with this salon and I left as well. There was a lot of tension between the staff and the owner during my last few visits here. From what I hear from other friends who have been back, the quality of work has declined since most of the shop relocated to new shops few months ago. I really only visited the shop for Maryann and her daughters. I didn't like anyone else's work. Original review: I come every two weeks for a gel mani pedi ! I love the staff and always come out feeling amazing! They make you feel like a guest not just a customer. So many Gel colors and they always get new colors so you don't get bored.Great service!! Call first if you don't have an appointment just in case they have a rush. Love the card program they have, after a certain amount of visits you get $5 off your total visit which comes in handy. Amazing! So nice and friendly and they take the time to have actual conversations with their customers. I really enjoyed how they were relaxed and patient while I picked out the color I wanted for my nails. The best part was when the employees were speaking in their language and would start to laugh, the woman doing my nails would explain to me what they were laughing about. It made me feel like I was included and not left wondering if they were talking about me or any of the other girls in the nail salon. Events where the employees speak in their native language always happens in other nail salons and it's gives off a horrible awkward vibe. (Anyone who often gets their nails done knows what I am talking about.) I will most definitely be coming back and would highly encourage anyone who wants to spend their hard earned money on great service and great nails to come to this nail salon. Update So... everyone I absolutely loved left and I followed. I will admit I did go back a couple times after I found out my normal nail techs left. The service was not the same. He said next time the fill will be $23 at max Update after 2nd visit: I came back for pedicure this time and I chose the Lovely pedicure with the interest on 10min massage. It was overall OK, it wasn't a full 10 min intense massage, almost like "gentle rubbing" with a lot of pauses in between. I liked the cream/scrub they used, though. It smells good and makes my leg smooth. Pay attention to the price, as if you want gel polish, you need to pay $20 more on top of the pedicure price. I got the regular OPI nail polish, so it is included into the pedicure price. They have a lot of color choices. read more

Every time I had come here it was $40 for fills, they burned my fingers and cut me and wanted to charge me $45. Mr. Said himself would always charge $40 but didn't go buy it when I came in the 3rd time. Would not recommend it after they said it was $40. My mom and I got gel manicures here tonight and we will definitely be back! A few things they did to go above and beyond to accommodate us: For starters, I had my two month old daughter with me and she was not having it. She was crying and wanting to be held which is difficult when your hands are being held by someone and you have wet nails. The woman who was working on my mom's nails did one hand at a time while standing up at a weird angle so my mom could hold my daughter. She even managed to do a great job while my mom was bouncing around trying to keep the baby happy. She talked to her and tried to entertain her the whole time. Very sweet. I would not recommend bringing your small baby when you're having your nails done FYI. Big mistake on my part, but they made us feel comfortable and said several times that it was okay that she was crying. I tend to be overly nervous about making people irritated when my baby is less than cooperative but they were really great about it. My nails look awesome. The man who did them is a perfectionist and took his time with every coat. He even super glued where my nail had broken really low on the side. He also painted several of the polishes onto his own nail when I couldn't decide which color to use. Like I said, above and beyond! A few things to know about the shop: It's small and had only three employees working. We came in at 5:15 on a Thursday evening and got right in but several others had to wait behind us. They opened all their nail tools in front of us which is always good. They are reasonably priced. We will definitely come back! read more

I've been going to this nail salon for awhile, unfortunately it has seemed to decrease in its quality. Their older nail tech is extremely rude and commented that my nail choice was not cute and proceeded to give me the most unsymmetrical set of nails I've ever seen, and er filing is also very aggressive and left me with cuts. She also felt the need to yell at when I was asking her questions about their loyalty card. I'm very disappointed and I will not being returning unless they are under a different management. read more

The man that works here, don't remember his name sorry, is one of the sweetest people I've ever met and my nails have never looked better. Very unethical when dealing with pricing. My 3 year old niece wanted her nails painted at a salon for her birthday. They originally said $25 and were purposefully ambiguous in the pricing when we asked for gels and the total. They said it would be $5 more dollars and they would give us a birthday special. We ended up paying $40 total. We brushed it off and paid it. The gels came off the same day. We went back and they argued that it was regular polish not gel. Absolutely DO NOT spend your money in this establishment! I went in last Wednesday for a fill...after sitting with the older woman for no more than 5 minutes she began insisting she could do nothing with the nails I had and needed a new set. I agreed to a full set and a polish change on my toes, it took 2 and a half hours. I got white gel nails that were way to long (after asking her to cut them down several times) and walked out spending 57 dollars with tip. 5 DAYS later I returned to Tan Nails with one nail that fell off and an ugly yellow/brown coating covering my white nails, I politely asked that she fix the problem because it had been less than a week since I was there, I was answered with a borage of excuses as to why my nails turned brown including I must have dyed my hair or used lotion that would cause this effect, I was also told it was the chemicals they use in their establishment that caused my nail to fall off. They refused to fix anything without me paying them an additional 18 dollars on top of the 57 I had spent one week prior. I was informed that she had been in the nail business for 30 years and even tho I have had white gel nails on and off for a year now (never with this problem) I was wrong and to bad pay it or nothing, I walked out. I am the type of person who will pay a lot of money for good service and instead of catering to a customer who would be loyal and return with friends who are also willing to spend a good deal of money...these people chose to be combative and give absolutely repulsive customer service. I haven't been to this salon since I first moved to Bakersfield a year and a half ago. I called to see if they had time for an acrylic overlay. They did so I went on over. I waited maybe 5 minutes then was seen by Maryann. She was a very nice lady and was very gentle with me and did an awesome job on my nails! I took my 3 yr old niece to get her nails done for her birthday. We got gels for her so they would last but the gels did not even last one day and on top of that they charged 45$ for it. My sister took her back to fix her nails the next day, since I had to leave town, and they argued with her about fixing them and tried to say it was just regular nail polish that was applied and we did not pay 45$. Oh man where do I start. . . Awesome place to go get a mani and pedi. I didn't have an appointment I went in as a walk-in they helped me right away. A male walked me to the pedicure chairs and started on my pedicure. No waiting at all. They offer different types of pedicure I choice the Lovely Pedicure witch, I LOVED. It include a foot scrub up to the knee, warm/hot towels treatment, 10 min message and of course the regular pedicure with the choice of color. I am new to Bakersfield and tried this place out. I was unhappy with the shape of my nails and asked for an adjustment. When I told her a second time the shape wasn't right, the woman who was doing another customers nails told the girl who was doing mine it was my fault, twice. I asked the girl if she wanted me to show her the shape. She huffed and said it was fine and she'd do it. They still weren't right but I didn't want to continue arguing. A couple tips for them: 1. Shape one or two nails and ask the customer if they are right. Don't do the whole hand and assume, continuing to move on without asking the customer if they would like anything changed or adjusted. 2. Oval, squoval, square... whatever... If the customer wants you to round them out a little more and keep the top flat, do it! And if you don't want to, fake it. Acting annoyed and telling the customer they're wrong won't bring them back. I sure as heck won't be. I am incredibly unhappy, but it wasn't worth arguing more, not only with the woman doing my nails but with the other employee too! read more

Ive been going here for about 6 months, and at first loved it, but the last couple months its been terrible experiences. First, only the two woman do good acrylic/gel nails. The owner did designs on my nails and they peeled off less than a week later. I decided to keep going but ask for one of the woman. My last visit was it though- in the middle of doing my nails the girl leaves to do a walk in eyebrow wax, then because she did that it made me go over on time and her next appt came in, so she completely rushed me. The next day one nail popped off, and a week later my nails are lifting and turning yellowish brown at the tips (I got white painted tips). Now im back to looking for a new place. I really like the location too and the prices so I'm pretty bummed! read more

At first there was some confusion on what i wanted to get, but after we all understood what it was i wanted they did it without hesitation.
