Cacio e Pepe, spaghetti carbonara- both not very good. Aperol spritz was flat-tasted like cough syrup
Nhu H.

My boyfriend and I came here after our hotel manager recommended it and told us it's the best place in the city for pasta. We left pretty disappointed. I had the cacio e Pepe and my boyfriend had the spaghetti carbonara. Both were really dry. We did not finish our meals. I also had an aperol spritz and it was honestly the worst spritz I've ever had. Up until this point I thought it was impossible to mess up on an aperol spritz. It was extremely flat and tasted like drinking straight cough syrup. Service was lacking, seems like they were understaffed.

TL;DR yummy yummy in my tummy got a sage butter ravioli, fan Effin tastic. soak your bread in it after you're done. tomato based pasta something. de effin licious. btw, did you know you can get half portions?!?!?

Marinara pasta and pesto pasta

Excellent food, fresh pasta with delicious sauces. The shrimp appetizer was insane, one of the best we've ever had! So crispy and perfectly cooked on the inside! Also the staff was wonderful! So kind and patient and helpful

Accidentally walked into this place and we were so glad we did! You walk in and can see them making the pasta then there are a bunch of tables in the back you could not see from the front. Food was good and they had live music which was a great vibe

We went to the Sunday market in santo Spirito on a Sunday and at noon randomly picked this restaurant for lunch. When you peek in it looks like a lunch counter-deli style restaurant, but it has dining rooms in the back. We didn't have reservations but were there right a noon and were seated right away. Immediately they brought bread and a spinach appetizer to the table. The atmosphere was fun-great music was playing 70's&80's American tunes. We ordered a carafe of the house red and two different pastas-the thick pasta with Parmesan and pepper (which they're famous for evidently) and a mushroom pasta dish. Both were great but the pepper pasta was amazing. Like the best Mac Nd cheese you've ever had! They make their own pasta and it's cooked perfectly. I love the whole area where the restaurant is-great shops and trattorias that are out of the touristy area. Our bill for two pasta dishes, 2 carafes of wine, bread, appetizer water was 37 euros.

Super authentic and amazing Italian food across the river. Some of the best pizza I've had in Florence. Went on a class field trip here to do a small wine tasting with a light dinner and it was one of the most fun experiences I have had in Italy. really nice and fresh ingredients too!!

I waited three days in Florence before getting my favorite, cacio e pepe. I really only enjoy pasta while in Italy, and this place didn't disappoint. They have a lunch special that also includes bread, water, and espresso for €12. The service is just a bit on the slow slide but not terrible. I do wish they had a little outdoor space though. I took a break from wine for lunch and this was just what I needed.

Best gnocchi ever!

Best gnocchi! I would def come back to eat the gnocchi again. Absolutely delicious. Pizza was good too, also tried the ravioli which was good as well.

Antipasto: Meat and Cheese tray. We especially loved the salami with fennel.

Tamerò was the first stop on our Florence food tour by Curious Appetite (I highly recommend booking the food tour next time you're in Florence!). The restaurant is situated in Piazza Santo Spirito. You can seat outside facing the Piazza or inside. The music was great and the restaurant had a wonderful vibe. We learned from our guide that the restaurants around Piazza Santo Spirito and surrounding Piazzas offer some of the best food in the city and tend to be less touristy as they are across the Arno from the city center. We started with an antipasti of meat and cheese which was quite delicious! This was followed by a pasta course where we sampled four handmade pastas. The chef is Sardinian and offered a range of pastas which included: ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach, dumpling stuffed with potato, cheese and mint served with shrimp and bacon (Sardinian specialty), noodles with pesto and tomatoes and finally a Pici Cacio e pepe (pici is a thick chewy spaghetti like noodle). This is definitely a restaurant we would come back to on another trip to the city!

We went here as part of a tour and it was amazing. This was a food tour guide and she said it was the pasta in all of Florence which is probably true bc it was amazing. So flavorful and not typical of most pasta restaurants. It's also a converted mechanics garage and sits right where all the locals go out on the piazza de santo spirita. Cool vibes and outdoor seating

I know this place may be famous for pasta and desserts, but of course I had salad. It was the only one on the menu and I almost felt bad ordering something that healthy in an Italian pasta resto. The surprise when I got it! Big fat portion and the ingredients.. OMG amazing. The autumn salad with dry fruits, black cabbage and pecorino cheese just made my night, it was delicious and satisfying, well presented too. As for the place it's very big and I like the setting, the fact that is very central and that they play live somethings. The wine we ordered wasn't that good though, but the service was super kind and at the counter we were offered limoncello as the Italian tradition wants. We also liked the blues playlist in the background! Do not order more than one dish unless you are very hungry, portions are generous!

It's close enough to the lively, bustling part of Firenze to feel connected, yet just far enough to escape the city's never-ending wave of tourists. The service was incredible, and the owner (I'm pretty sure it was the owner?) brought so much energy that he single-handedly turned the whole place into an eclectic little spot during the "rush hour" of the evening. The menu was solid, if a bit "generic" at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked. All in all, we loved our meal and would definitely recommend this spot if you're in Florence.

On top of the pain of securing a reservation (they only take these over the phone; no online system), the only slot I could secure even as a solo diner was as soon as they opened, at 6pm, and via a bar seat. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by several of the staff, all warm/kind. One of them offered me a table, even though I humbly mentioned I'd be fine with whatever was convenient to them. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic.

We spent three days in Florence and ate here twice, and cut our tour of the Acedemia out of our schedule to make sure we could make it for lunch before heading on to Rome, that's how awesome the food was! The people running the restaurant are so amazing, they truly treat you like family while you are there. They were always attentive, but never lingering. Unlike restaurants in the US where you are expected to eat and leave as soon as possible, in Italy food is mean to be enjoyed over conversation and camaraderie, which means unless you wave someone over or your glasses are empty you are left to enjoy yourselves. Osteria Santo Spirito is no exception to this rule. You'll be warmly greeted and well cared for but never hovered over. You will absolutely want to make a reservation, a wait for a table inside can take a bit to get if you just plan to stroll in off the street, but the seating outside is just as beautiful and a bit more plentiful. The outside patio is on a busy Piazza - and not one of the attractive historic ones. We asked if we could change to an inside table (much cuter on the inside with great kitchen smells) - we were told absolutely no even though it never got more than half full on the inside. We were then ignored for about 20 minutes and weren't even offered water. Finally got a teenager for a waiter who spoke passable English (menu is entirely in Italian) but couldn't give us much in the way of translations or recommendations. Our wine order was frowned upon by the owner but didn't offer an alternative ("I don't like that wine") - so why have it on your menu? We shared a pear pasta and lasagna - which were both good - and then ordered 2 large Florentine steaks to share. The steaks were disappointing - a lot of gristle and unevenly cooked - and we had had a fabulous one a week earlier at a Montepulciano restaurant so we knew what it should taste like. We were made to feel so special at multiple restaurants throughout our trip that the entire experience at 4 Leoni was a terrible letdown for all of us. Maybe an off night for them but there were too many negatives.
