Quick funny story about this place: when I was about 13, I stupidly let my would be hair stylist friend dye my hair and she ended up turning it bright orange. Needless to say when my father finally brought me to the salon my hair was a horrible mess! They were so nice to me they could see I was upset and they gave me a new cut and dyed my hair brown again. Normally it would be $40ish for a haircut, but after my experience here I'm 50/50 on if I'll go back. Probably not because their prices are higher-end and I wasn't impressed by anything, I can pay about the same price at the salon I used to go to in Rittenhouse. I liked the stylist I had, Teri, she was nice and did a good job. She was also quick, and my hair is a pain to blow out. I was in and out in about an hour. I was VERY unhappy with whoever the girl was who did my shampoo/conditioning treatment. I was hoping someone would ask me about my experience so I could say something, but they didn't. I almost asked Teri not to style my hair because of it, because I felt like I needed to wash it again, and still do. She kind of poured a little shampoo and barely worked it through my hair, didn't even wash the underneath part. She was pretty awful, and normally this is the best part of getting your hair done! Lastly, there was a huge, extremely loud (well mostly just one very rude girl- she even kept walking in front of me and putting her butt in my face while I was getting a haircut!) who were acting like they owned the salon. I'm trying not to base my review off this, but it definitely ruined my experience, and maybe they should be more mindful of when and what size groups they schedule, however if the group had better manners it would have been fine, and I know the salon can't control that. Overall, 2-3/5 experience, but prob would be 4/5 on a different day.

I typically go to another Great Clips location, but I was in the Drexel Hill area and thought I…read morecould squeeze in a quick trim before heading into work. I was greeted by a older woman at the register who checked me in (I use the app to check in ahead of time) and led me back to her chair. She asked me what I wanted to do with my hair today and I said I wanted to keep my same hairstyle, but I just needed a clean-up/trim as I'm growing my hair out for winter. My usual stylist uses a 3 on the clippers for the sides and back of my head with the crown of my head being chin length. The stylist grabs her clippers and starts SHAVING THE BACK OF MY HEAD!!!!!!! Not the 3 I asked for, not a 2, not a 1 but to shave me down to bald. As soon as I saw the first clump of my hair hit the floor, I told her to stop and asked if she was shaving the back of my head. She said yes, she was cutting my hair like her last client. Considering she had already decided what haircut she was going to give me from a client I did not see since she was standing alone at the register when I walked in so why she thought she could just start shaving my head is beyond me. I could not leave the salon with a huge chunk of hair missing at the back of my head. I told her to please do whatever she could do to rescue my hairstyle which meant shaving the sides and back of my head down to bald. Her consolation was that my haircut was free, knowing I would need years to grow out the worst haircut I've ever received. I walked out of the salon after the first butchering and saw that even though she shaved my head to bald, there were parts where my hair was uneven so I walked back in to ask for my hair to be fixed to the best of anyone's ability. Another stylist took pity on me and said she would correct the uneven shave. Stylist #2 (a tall younger woman with long dark hair) starts to correct the uneven shave of Stylist #1 then grabs her scissors to start lopping off most of the longer hair on the crown of my head! I was so upset that now I have a weird mix up of a shaved head with a manly pixie cut I DID NOT ASK FOR FROM EITHER STYLIST!!!!!!! The manager Gina (the only employee to offer their name), gave me an index card with her cell phone # and said she would contact the owner to see if I could be compensated for the terrible haircut that will take years to grow out. I told Stylist #1, Stylist #2 and the Manager that at my employer, my shaved head violates the my employer's employee dress code and there's no way to hide this hideous haircut other than a wig. Gina the manager said she would have the owner reimburse me for the cost of a wig. The owner has not reached out to me and a complaint was lodged with Corporate Great Clips for the traumatizing and unauthorized masculinization of my hair. Lo and behold, I get to work an hour after the disastrous haircut and I'm told to go home today. I need to report to HR in the morning to go through the termination process for violating the employee dress code. DO NOT under any circumstances think that you can verbalize to your stylist that you want a clean-up/trim of your current hairstyle and walk out with anything less than a butchering of your hair. You will instantly regret your decision to stop in "for a quick trim".

Way overblown negative reviews, but here's one guy's opinion on building the proper merchant / customer relationship: I have been going to Tamed Hair Salon for well over a year now and have never had any issues with haircuts or even the wine selection there. The back bar is quite enjoyable. Granted I am male, don't dye my hair or get keratin treatments, but my voice still matters. I do post to Yelp, Foursquare and Facebook about other local merchants whenever I have a chance and receive a favorable experience. I've realized over the years that not everyone brings an "A " game everyday. I usually hold back from trashing a merchant's online reputation and I prefer to properly discuss a negative experience with management. This solves 99.9% of issues that one might want addressed. You see it's sort of like baseball and it's in the merchant's best interest to ensure your experience was a positive one for both parties. My rule is (03) strikes and you're out. Condemning an entire business operation in just an hour's time is unreasonable. One thing I've noticed on here are the abrasive & frivolous issues on these rating boards involving Groupon and coupon clipper customers. They are quick to push the merchant under the bus because they didn't get round the world treatment or additional services for FREE. While I don't speak for this merchant, I would say that if a customers acted abrasively as their posts/ratings indicate here, I'd prefer not to service them at all. RULES OF ETIQUETTE FOR MERCHANTS AND CUSTOMERS: 1. You'll catch more bees with honey, than vinegar 2. You get what you pay for 3. Don't ask people to work for FREE 4. BEFORE you purchase, ask questions and be comfortable with your purchase 5. Daily Deals means the merchants generally lose money on your visit 6. Merchants want you to be happy, that's why they took a loss to get you there 7. The merchant wants you to come back, don't be uptight These are just some simple, yet effective methods to keep everyone happy. My best advice is to ask before you buy, this will root out 90% of trouble if you just take your time to get EXACTLY what you want in the first place. read more

I do not have enough positive words in my vocabulary to even graze how much I love this salon. I'm constantly raving about it to my friends and girlfriends. I have never once left once unhappy or dissatisfied and have always been in such a great mood when I leave. They are simple the best cutting hair and also a joy to talk to and it really makes the experience that much more fun -- it's not just a haircut but also the experience of the whole thing. I've been going to Brielle since June of 2014 and she is simply amazing. I have blonde hair now (I'm naturally a brunette) and Brielle has been able to keep my hair healthy (with all the coloring that I do), conditioned and hydrated, and at the same time she absolutely does the best for the toning for my blonde. She helps me maintain a level head when all I kept telling her what I want and that I want a bright blonde as she knows it's not that easy to get the result quickly. Tamed is a great neighborhood and offers tons of freebies when you check in on Yelp and also the great company is all great additions. Simply LOVE Tamed salon! read more

I'm SO HAPPY that I recently came across Tamed in the search for a new salon!!! Everything about my experience there was great, from when I called to schedule my appointment until I walked out the door with the exact look that I had been hoping for. The girls are AWESOME, so friendly and fun to be around. Anjelica was able to create the perfect ombré look that I have been trying to achieve for so long. She took the time to understand exactly what I wanted her do to do with my hair, and she pulled it off so well. I've gotten so many compliments, and I absolutely love my new color. The salon itself is nothing out of the ordinary...but very clean, colorful, and comfy; a nice place to spend a Saturday afternoon. :) The stylists and receptionist were all very outgoing and cheerful, and definitely supported the overall positive, energetic vibe of the salon. I will absolutely be returning to Tamed....and I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for talented, knowledgable, enthusiastic, and thorough stylists. Thank you so much, ladies, for a great experience and beautiful hair!! :) read more

If it had stars in the negative, that's what I'd give. The owner of this salon lied to thousands of people when they promised that their employee Bill was fired for his disgusting, slanderous comments. There was a Daily Times article published a few months ago about a cop murderer. The daughter of a murdered Upper Darby Police officer commented on it & your employee Bill posted that her father (the murdered officer) was currently in hell performing oral sex on Daniel Faulkner (aother murdered Philadelphia police officer). Besides the fact that it is disrespectful to the police, it's disrespecting a murdered officer. Murdered in the line of duty. Worst of all, to his DAUGHTER. That's her FATHER. Now today, on the anniversary of his death, I was informed that all of their support & apologies were actually lies. Bill was never fired & currently works there. So I just wanted to let you know that I, & ALOT of other people, will go back to spreading the word to NEVER step foot in their salon. read more

I bought my girlfriend a Living Social deal for a keratin treatment. I'm a dude, so don't ask me what that is. I just know it was on her wish list and I bought it for her. I dropped her off here at Tamed and went in to say hello. The staff was all very nice, I didn't catch their names but they were all very pretty. When I went to go pick up my girlfriend she was ecstatic! She absolutely loved her hair! I must admit, usually when I drop her off to get her hair done, I don't really see a difference with her hair at other places. It pretty much looks the same so I feel like we just flushed some money down the drain. But this time, I totally saw a difference in her hair and it was totally worth it! It actually looked more shiny and full of volume. Basically it looked like healthy hair. Plus on top of that she was happy, so you can't go wrong there. I give Tamed my stamp of approval. The people there were nice and they made my girlfriend happy. Thanks Tamed! read more

Some companies have horrible customer service. I want to tell you about the customer service at total home protection. They are great. I purchased this plan several months ago not thinking I would never use it. Well low and behold guess who was wrong? I love to bake and was in the mood for cake but my oven would not turn on. So I called Total Home Protection and got a very nice young lady that knew her job. She assured me that my oven /stove would be working as soon as she could get someone out to my house. Being a Sunday I thought it would be impossible. But fortunately for me there was a very nice contractor able to come out that afternoon. The heating element had went out in the oven. This was a very easy fix. Here I thought I would need a new stove and was very happy when I found out I only had to pay my deductible for this to be done. I was once again a happy baker. Thanks to Total Home Protection, my Sunday family dinner was saved. Great experience. read more

This review is for Jess. I have been on the hunt for a really good hair stylist for about 2-3 years now since I moved to Broomall. After reading the good reviews for Tamed, I decided, "Why not?" I will just give it a shot. The first time I went, I got a haircut and I left really happy. Jess respected what I said and my desired hair length and it was really important to me. When I say 2 inches, I really mean 2 inches and not look like I donated a bunch of my hair at the end of the appointment. The next time I went, I wanted a color change done. I had about a few months to almost a year of grown out and faded pink and blonde hair and when I came out it looked so much better. It was a balayage that I wanted. It looked so natural and I'm so happy with the results. Parking was super easy and right in front on West Chester. Tamed is tucked away next to a dry cleaning place and a pizza place. Really easy to find and I love the people who work there. read more

Found the Groupon today for Tamed and needed a quick cut/color appointment. The manager, Bill, was able to get me in right away and was super accommodating. He was extremely professional and friendly over the phone before the appointment and was even more so when I showed up for my appointment. I am not only happy with the way my hair turned out, but I am happy about my overall experience there. Even when I first got there, I observed Bill's interactions with the customers he was working with and enjoyed seeing how happy, comfortable, and satisfied they were. They seemed to have been there many times before. It was great to see customer loyalty and people having a great experience at a salon. I don't usually get expensive haircuts but for this one I must admit that I splurged a bit. In the end, I'd say it was worth it. I only get my hair cut once a year anyway. When I first entered the salon, the atmosphere felt really comfortable, relaxing, and a bit classy like you're a queen for the day. I then met my stylist Briele, who was absolutely friendly and charming. She talked to me and consulted about what kind of cut I would like and then I got my hair washed and sat down for the haircut. I felt at ease with the stylist and didn't feel nervous or anxious like I do at other salons. It was the best haircut I've ever gotten and I'm super happy with the results. I have been looking for a new salon for awhile and I think I have finally found it! I bought a Groupon for the single color process for cut a nd blowout for $50. The parking situation is a little iffy but definitely not a deterrent. The lovely greeter they have totally makes up for it, he's an English bulldog named Boo. He's very well mannered and makes any waiting time enjoyable. The stylists are crazy knowledgeable and helped me really pick out what would work with me and what I could easily maintain. I was introduced to this salon after purchasing the keratin groupon. Brielle explained that it won't take away all of my curl which I knew but I mainly did it to control the frizz. So far the results are great. Stays frizz free even on those rainy days!! I also have tons of highlights and have had a hard time finding a stylist that can make my highlights more beige and less brassy. We had a great discussion and she seemed very knowledgable and seemed to really "get" what I wanted. I made an appointment for her to correct my current color and I am glad I did. The own then started to do my twist and towards the end had someone do the front which was done sooo big and long. She cut the ends of the twist so they didn't look kinky. It was heavy bulky. I had to go back and the owner said she sorry the girl messed my hair up she wish she had my number to call me to tell me to come so she could fix it. When I questioned her why she let her do that to my hair and me leave like that, she stated she sorry and she tried to tell the girl it didn't look good. Even with the owner fixing the braids i didn't like them. The ends of the hair was like locks, she curled them 1/2 way up the braid. Just a mess!!!

I have had long hair, short hair, natural hair as well as weaves from Yvonne and she always makes my hair look amazing. My hair has never been healthier. You never have to wait and you are in and out quick. The atmosphere is pleasant, there's great conversations and her clients are wonderful people. I have made several friends just from my standing bi-weekly appts. Yvonne did my hair for my wedding that was taking place at the Jersey shore. She and her assistant drove down just to do my hair and makeup. She's a class act! Having my hair freshly styled right before my wedding was the topping on the cake. I will forever be grateful for her and her exceptional customer service. I highly recommend Royalty to anyone who is looking for a professional, highly rated salon.

She put on 2 rinses to lighten my hair from mousy blonde to a light ash blonde that did not work. Next Katherine put something on my hair that turned it orange. The only thing to do to get rid of the orange was to strip the color from my hair with strong bleach. My hair became gold. Needless to say a few days later my hair started to thin out and break off. This continued for a few months. The only time the owner got involved was when it was time to close for the evening. Don't go here. Very smug and cold environment with incompetent beauticians charging high prices.

Yvy did a great job - she talked to me and looked at several pictures I brought before starting, and I think she had a real sense of what would work for my appearance and personality. Cutting waist-length hair is a big step, and Yvy was very careful to make sure I was comfortable with the decision. In fact, I couldn't have been happier with the result. I walked out of the salon with hair that looked just as good as the model in one of the photos I brought. With the style Yvy did for me, my hair looks good just getting out of bed in the morning, and if I apply my **very limited** styling ability, it looks fantastic! This has been such a great boost to my confidence. I'm no longer ducking into the corner when someone takes out their phone for a picture and I actually like the way I look. I would absolutely recommend Sorelle and Yvy, and I'll for sure be going back!
