Please don't go to this salon, absolutely terrible and a very racist owner/hairstylist. This lady took a holiday appointment (no one forced her to work on Thanksgiving) after being completely okay with paying 165 for a blowout. I silently waited for my appointment to begin, I arrived at 10:30 sharply took an uber from my hotel to make sure I'm not wasting my time. I waited while she finished, could have said thanks for your patience, no nothing. I asked how much longer this will take she said, "you should be grateful that I'm working and even doing this" came to brush my hair and said wow your hair isn't even brushed. So I waited 40 minutes and this person didn't like my hair texture and didn't want to brush it for 165. I work in the restaurant industry absolutely WORST WORST WORST experience ever. Have no common courtesy or common sense. If you would like a rude hair dresser who doesn't want to brush your hair out, it's so sad that people are outwardly racist these days. Would never come again and would also make sure my family and friends and Broomall come either. I literally have never experienced any professional service like this. I paid $100 for a $280 balayage on Groupon. I booked a pre set 2-hr appointment on the salon website and was excited that the salon had a slot within the next 7 days. I'm a brunette and I had grown out blond highlights (you can clearly see the line b/w my grown out hair and bleached highlights) and wanted a balayage with roots left my natural color. She put a high lift highlights only on the top of my hair and sides which wasn't nearly the intensity it should've been, and the bottom layers of my hair were left untouched. The difference between my blond and natural hair wasn't blended at all. All these highlights also go from half an inch off my roots. Not only did I not get a balayage, but I got partial highlights that are not even that prominent. Also, I was done in 75 minutes and the next two clients came in about 10 minutes before I was done (so she didn't even think this would take 2 hours). I guess if you buy a Groupon for this place you get the service equal to how much you paid for it, not what the value of Groupon was. read more

I used to love going there, it was great, but then, in the middle of the worst part of COVID, I went in and only my stylist would wear a mask.. everyone else wasn't. It was a safety issue for me. Also...it was a mandate that they wear masks...if they don't care about the safety of their clients AND the restrictions put in place by the state, then what else do they not care about? I originally came across this salon on Groupon, a balayage, haircut, deep conditioning, and toner for $115. I thought, why not, it has good reviews on Groupon. I looked for Tamed on Yelp and it had horrible reviews but I decided to call and make an appointment anyways. I made the first available appointment and I was assigned with Jess. A few minutes later Jess called me to tell me she had strep and could not do my hair, I said ok that's fine. I went back on their website to see if Brielle was available and sure enough she was. (I needed to get my hair done that same day as my fiancé and I were going on a date later that evening) I arrive at the salon and Brielle greets me and I sit in her chair. I explain to her that I would like to get a balayage as I saw a deal on Groupon, told her I would like to go as light as possible without damage and bring up the color as I already had an outgrown balayage. She suggested not to go too light as my skin tone is on the darker side so I said that's fine. She goes into the back to mix the bleach and she starts to apply it to my hair. I immediately started to panic because she was just slapping it on my hair without the usual balayage technique but I trusted she knew what she was doing. She was done applying the bleach in 25 minutes !! Still, I said nothing- I was going to wait for the end results. I sat in the chair for 45 minutes and she was checking on the progress every so often during that time. Finally she rinsed out my hair, shampooing with a purple shampoo. She then went to go mix the toner. She comes back, applies the toner for literally maybe no more than 1 minute MAX which in my previous experience, that's not long enough to let the toner do it's work (I've been dying/bleaching my hair for years and I have had good balayage done by professionals) after the toner I questioned if she was going to deep condition my hair to honor the Groupon. She said that she had already applied it but there was no way she shampooed, toned, and deep conditioned my hair all in the 5 minutes I was in the chair. After going back to the chair to get my hair dried, I panicked again. She was drying my hair in layers and cutting them as she goes! I have never ever had someone dry a layer and then cut it and continue to do that. In the end, what I got was a choppy haircut and botched partial highlights. I specifically asked her if they blended in nicely and she said yes. I immediately saw that it was a botched job, but I had my 7 month old baby and my husband waiting at the Air Force base to be picked up from work so I could NOT stay longer than the 2 hours I was already there. At the time of payment she charged me $125 not $115 like the Groupon. Still-I said nothing and that was the end of that. I did not want to confront her about her terrible job or the fact that she charged me $10 extra seeing the past reviews of her being rude, not giving a refund, or satisfying what I originally walked in the salon for-there was no point. I'd rather spend more money somewhere else and have my hair corrected. I had to wear a baseball cap for my date, I was so embarrassed. I was looking forward to trying this salon for the first time today. Unfortunately they are not following the Pennsylvania requirements for face coverings. I asked Brielle if she would wear a mask during my appointment and she refused insisting there was no need because she didn't feel sick and it's not a thing. She said she posted it to the website however I was unable to locate said information. There were no Covid precautions taken. If you are following CDC guidance, do not go to this salon. Well, now I am being stalked for my review on Yelp from BRIELLE, the salon owner I believe.. This is her message to me. I also bought the Living Social keratin treatment. I've had the normal keratin treatment 4 times before, with great results. I paid $150 for this treatment, and am sorely disappointed with the results. Brielle did give me an explanation as to why GK is better than the others, saying she's never had one complaint. Reading these reviews would lead me to believe otherwise. My hair is STILL frizzy and looks like it does after 4 months of a regular treatment. I know I took a chance with this product/salon using a coupon, but for the amount of money I paid, I expected better results. Not pleased. Brielle was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, sweet, and gave great advice concerning my hair. I went there for an express keratin (which turned out amazing) and I plan on going back for my color. I have difficult hair that seems to be easily messed up if the stylist doesn't know color extremely well. EXTREMELY RUDE WITH POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE: I purchased a Groupon for Tamed Hair Salon, made an online appointment as they directed me over the phone. I misread the Groupon because I Was looking at multiple choices . I purchased a haircut, full highlights and blow dry. I showed up for my appointment and the woman behind the counter (upon investigation the owner, Brielle) would not allow me to get my hair done since I wanted lowlights. She refused to serve me; I offered to pay the difference in product but she quoted $50! I told her I would tip on the full amount and basically begged her to be more reasonable. I tried to book an appointment for a Groupon and was told to do so online. NO problem. Tried that, and Groupon was not an option. Called back, and was told that I had to use my credit card. I asked if I would be charged, and the person answering the phone was so rude and obnoxious that I said forget it, I just want my money back. She then told me that she was refusing my business. She was so rude, could not enunciate sentences and so very obnoxious, that I don't think I want any of you touching my hair. If this is the way you treat customers over the phone, then I'm not coming in. I asked to speak to the owner. The person on the phone would not give me her name or give me the owner's name or phone number. I expect you to get in touch with me. I want a full refund of the groupon (yes,  I will call them) but I want an apology. You should carefully choose who you have to answer the phone when customers call. They should not be so rude. Eventually, you will lose MUCH business because of it. And, if she is your manager, then your problems are bigger than simply having a disgruntled potential customer. read more

I went here because I had a Groupon. Seems like a start-up salon, with less experienced stylists. The service I received was similar to an experience I had at a beauty school. Except, my services at the beauty school were free, unlike this salon. There seems to be a lack of education and bad time management. The stylist took 2.5 hours to do a conditioning treatment and haircut. If you are looking for a basic men's haircut or a basic women's trim, this may be the place for you. I got my hair done at Tamed Salon about 3 months ago. I bought the Living Social voucher for a keratin treatment, and was extremely disappointed with the results. Within a week my hair looked like nothing was done. I called and went back but was told gk does not straighten hair, ok well I have had multiple keratin treatment and they have always relaxed my hair (what is the purpose of getting a keratin treatment if it does nothing for your hair). I even called GK and they said their keratin should relax your hair so there is something wrong with the application at the salon. Want your hair ruined? Want to pay over a hundred dollars for orange hair? Orrrr how about be given attitude and no refund to top it off. NO WONDER Groupon had an offer for this place! Here I thought I could try someplace new and not pay full price. Little did I know, I was in for the most blood boiling situation I'd ever experience. I showed up to the salon just looking to get my roots filled...which I've been doing for 6 years. The manager was so helpful and it sounded as if she knew exactly what she was talking about. She suggested doing a glaze to brighten up everything instead of just a few highlights. I thought this sounded great so I agreed to it. As I was sitting in the chair I could slowly see my hair turning more and more orange. I waited to see what would happen once it was rinsed....big mistake. It was BRIGHT ORANGE. I then ask if it was supposed to look like that and her response was 'sometimes when you try to lighten dark hair, if you have natural red undertones, it will come out'. Oh ok...then why did you do this to my hair KNOWING it would happen?! She then kindly offered to put a few blonde highlights in to help with the color....OMG. Now I have orange hair with blonde highlights!!! Whatever, I just wanted to get out of their at this point. So I went to check out and she said its $105. My jaw dropped and wondered what for?! She told me the groupon deal was $60 and the extra highlights were $45. Oh ok...so it's an extra $45 because you screwed up my hair. So I kindly paid and left. I get home and my hair is BRIGHT orange. I have pictures that would astound you. After a panick attack I called the salon and she said she would fix it-at this point I didn't want her touching my hair again so for $13.29 I bought a box and did it myself-it has never looked better. THEN the next day I call to get my money back saying how upset I was. VERY rudly- the same girl (who did I mention was the manager-Brielle) told me that they guarantee satisfaction BUT don't give refunds. She washed her hair today and it was clear that it did not take. I knew it would not take as she was only in the chair for an hour or less when it has taken over two hours when my other daughter had it done elsewhere. When I contacted the owner she was rude and refused to stand by her own work. She should be ashamed of herself. In previous posts the owner claims to guarantee her work. I had to give one star for this rating - that is fake star Tamed Salon does not deserve any stars. I purchased a Groupon for a balayage, haircut, deep conditioning and toner. My first mistake- I did not research the salon before purchasing my groupon - After I arrived home I read the reviews and it seems that most of the customers - whom paid a good amount of money for a groupon were treated poorly. When I called to make an appointment who ever answered the phone was very rude and said "you have to make the appointment on line" and just hung up the phone. (My first impression was not a good one) Then I arrived at the salon immediately after entering the salon -I realized that this was not a pleasant atmosphere in fact it was quit toxic. Brielle was very rude and nasty - very argumentative. I wanted my roots done as well as my groupon services come to find out they charge $68.00 for a root touch up but, if Brielle does your touch up it is $70.00 - very steep considering the condition of the salon (very dirty and it needs a lot of TLC). I really needed my roots to be touched up so, Brielle dyed my roots - the entire time I was there, Brielle had a lot of sarcastic comments. I just wanted to run out the door the whole time I was there. Needless to say I did not use my groupon and as soon as my hair was washed - I paid the $70.00 and left. This salon was awful. I got a groupon for a keratin treatment. The owner did my hair and started by asking me when I had gotten my haircut last- a week ago was the answer. She told me that I shouldn't have gotten my haircut until after the treatment. She did the treatment-- using barely any product, not at all enough. When she was finished, she spent about a minute cutting angles into the front of my hair, which I did NOT ask for. At the end of the appointment I was told that I was being charged for a haircut WHICH I DIDN'T GET and the extra keratin that was needed-- she used barely any. I was charged $50 in extra charges. I called to make an appt for a cut and color and the salon was able to fit me in within a day's notice, which I was thrilled about. The day of the appt, I drove 30 mins to get there and upon arrival was told to sit and wait for my stylist. 20 minutes goes by and the other stylist informed me that I had rescheduled my appt and the stylist would not be there- I did not reschedule, and no one contacted me to reschedule. I can't comment on the quality of this salon's work but am disappointed in their organizational ability and how they blamed me for the faux reschedule. read more

i decided i was going to go from shoulder length heir to a short pixie with a long bang. i looked on groupon and found Tamed. i was a little worried because of some of the reviews but the reviews that loved them seemed to really like it there so i took a chance. When i called the girl picked up - she seemed busy but that was ok. i was able to be seen that afternoon. my stylist was Jess. the place is small and cute, black and teal. Brielle checked me in and started my treatment. she was very nice and talkative. then Jess did my cut. she did a GREAT job! i couldnt be happier with my cut. she was very sweet and talking to me and asking me questions. one of my biggest pet peeves is when a stylist doesn't talk to you. both girls were very friendly. After going home and having my hair for a couple of days, i realized i really didn't like the back. She left it a little long for what i wanted. I called and spoke to Brielle and she didn't give me any trouble about coming in and getting it fix. My first day that i could come in would be Dec. 1 and she didn't give me any problems about it being over a week or anything. so with the other yelps saying they are rude and wouldn't fix anything --- i didn't have that problem. If you are looking for a new place - i would def. check them out. they have a couple of options on Groupon to pick from. I bought a Groupon for cut, style, and highlight. While I was not expecting to pay extra so I couldn't tip as well as I wanted, i was extremely pleased with the result. I've been to alot of salons where I end up with bad color or bad haircut. Usually it's due to them not understanding my hair type. I have thick dark Asian hair. I finally found a place with good prices, good results. Brielle took the time to listen to what I wanted and helped me find the right shade. Her dog is adorable and we just clicked. The whole process took longer than I expected but my hair was long so it's understandable. Plus, the result was well worth the time. I finally have the hair I wanted. To everyone who reads all the bad reviews, try this place out. Just because people had problems with the keratin doesn't mean that the rest of their work is bad. I want to write a review for Tamed because I didn't just go here with a Groupon for a select service. I actually get my hair cut here regularly and am happy with the service I receive. Taylor is the stylist who does my hair, and she's really nice and has always done a good job on my hair and I'm happy with my cut. Tamed also does bridal packages, which I took advantage of as I just got married. Three of the girls who work there came to my house and did hair and make up for me and all of my bridesmaids. Everyone was happy with what they got and we had a lot of fun. It was a nice perk that they were willing to travel to my house instead of all of us having to go there. I can't speak for everyone, but I think it's a nice salon. Just because someone else had a bad experience doesn't mean that you will. read more

If there were no stars, that's exactly what I would give this place. I went in for a keratin treatment. Bill (the owner) washed my hair after he applied the keratin which washed away the product! Needless to say, it didn't work. I called Bill and CAMLY mentioned the issue to him, and he immediately started making accusations about me "wanting the treatment applied again for free" even though I NEVER mentioned anything even similar to that. He literally said that because I used a Groupon ($99) for a treatment that normally costs $300, he had no obligation to apply it correctly. He raised his voice at me, would not let me get a word in, and went on about "protecting his business from people like me" (a professional making a good living). He completely lost it for no reason, and just wouldn't be civil and address the issue like a grown up. I was very appalled by his behavior. Very insulting and far from professional. Bill either has no customer service skills whatsoever, or was having a very bad day. So much for "guaranteeing" his work! He was so disrespectful I had to report him to Better Business Bureaus. As I entered the salon, I was very nervous because I was greeted by a woman (I presume the manager) who was trying to remove YELP reviews of the salon. Did I really want to get my hair cut in a place that didn't want me to see other's feedback? Since I had already purchased a Groupon (cut and condition) to use at Tamed, I told myself to stick it out. I am glad that I stayed. Anjelica started the appointment with a great consultation, asking what I wanted to have done and allowing me to show her a picture. While she was washing my hair and getting me ready for the conditioning product, Anjelica walked me through step-by-step with what she was doing and made pleasant small talk. When it was time to sit with the conditioning treatment in my hair, she even offered me a beverage and to get me some magazines. I am happy with the cut that she did - it's one of the best haircuts I have had in a while! Anjelica was very friendly, patient, and knowledgeable about what she was doing. I am very pleased with my experience with her and would return again to have an appointment with her. My only complaint is that with the Groupon, a blow-dry was not included in the price. Anjelica was very upfront with me during the consultation and said that it would cost me an extra $20 to have my hair blow-dried. I respectfully declined - that is an outrageous amount of money to charge for a dry and by the time the cut was finished my hair was basically dry. Personally, I think that not having my hair dried and minimally styled at the end of a hair cut takes something away from the experience and makes it less special. Other Groupons that I have purchased from salons in the area for cut and condition (priced the same as this salon) have all included a blow-dry. I hope that Tamed decides to do the same - it would really round out the experience. read more

I had an appt for an early weekday morning. I understand that when you use a groupon, your treatment isnt top notch. I must have counted 5 cigarettes than my stylist put me on hold for. All I had was a cut & a full head of highlights. My appt was at 10:00am, why was someone who came in at 10:30, who got a cut, full head of highlights & CURLS get out of the salon an hour and a half before me? because my stylist was too busy smoking her cigarettes and taking her time. guessing i was her only client that day. all in all this salon was very mediocore. theres this odd, buff guy greeting you but then sits on his phone the rest of the time, I thought maybe offering me a drink wouldnt be too much trouble. my stylist went on to tell me how she'd be doing hair "illegally" for 10 years and only legal for one year...i watched the girl behind me get told HALF WAY THRU THE BLOWDRY that it cost extra, lol. i saw her write a review on here but that was quickly removed. the only reason her stlist started the blwodry was so that she could scuker her into paying te extra $20 to complete it. i would think they'd treat the new customers with a little more generousity so that they want to schedule their next appt, that wasnt the case here. therefore, i will not be returning.... Is giving Tamed hair salon no stars an option? This place didn't do anything to me and a friend's hair. We paid for a full cut and color and didn't get anything we wanted. I asked for an undercut with long layers. Jessica barely cut my hair...had to beg her to cut the sides of my hair..she was quite disturbed that she was not already finished....she never took the scissors to the length of my sides...but after my instance did cut some layers...asked for my bangs to be above my eyebrows...they are way lower,,,almost cover my eyes,,,no undercut, no long layers....the real kicker is I did not want to go back...asked for my money back was told NO...and since I cancelled I had to pay a fee...they had no business in the store...now I know why...avoid them...also, my color did not last even one week...already faded...one week is tomorrow. Do not ever go there. Don't waste your time and money. I went there for a groupon i had purchased. I had experiences before and keratine treatment has always worked perfectly.
