Talking Cedar is a solid alternative to the dining at great Wolf Lodge. It's just around the corner with ample parking. We got there around 6:30 PM on Thursday evening and the wait was about 20 minutes for families, but we sat at the bar at a high top and got right in. We found service to be friendly and prompt. The gentleman who was taking care of us was attentive without being pushy. We started with the fried pickles which came out with ranch and aïoli for dipping. It was a huge portion. Tasty indeed. While I know pickles are inherently salty, I did find these to be exceptionally salty, leaving me to wonder if the batter was also salted, which definitely would not be necessary. Just know that if you are planning on ordering them. We also both got the Smoked Steak Salad. The salad was fresh and nicely dressed. Both of them came with a very generous serving of meat. The meat was just OK. They do not ask you how you would like your steak cooked, so once I got it, that made sense. I'm guessing they don't just smoke it for a little bit and finish the cooking it another way because it is well done with some rough bits - perhaps leftovers from something else. Honestly, I would prefer to have a nice juicy steak on top of a salad, and while I enjoyed this enough, I probably would not get it again for this reason. We both got a beer flight too, and found all four choices to be really good! I will definitely come back here when I'm tired of options at Great Wolf. I'd be interested in trying their sandwiches, as I saw a couple people with French Dips that looked really good. read more

Last weekend was the second time my family & I visited Talking Cesar Restaurant, this time with my mom with us (from out of town). We were excited, greeted nicely and were sat down pretty quickly. Then it took a turn. Our waiter took alittle while to get to us. Once he did, he was basically rushing to get our order. 20 mins later came back with our water and my husbands Bourbon Flight. This is me by the way looking at my photo album to track the time. 25 mins later our appetizer came and they were delish. We had ordered Garlic Parmesan Wings and Giant Pretzel. We waited over an hour and our waiter finally comes back to tell us that due to a Big Table outside our food is running behind, we said that's fine. 30 mins later, he comes back and tells us he mistakenly did not put our orders in and he takes full accountability but the fact that he only placed 1/2 of order and realized it an hour and a half later and waited 30 mins passed to tell us was beyond acceptable. We had a 1 year old and a 2.5 year old babies with us, we got there at 5:15pm and left at 8pm with no Main Course, we decided to leave and they offered to give us our main dishes for free and that had to pay for our apps and drinks. At that point, we weren't even hungry anymore- we were more upset than hungry. Word of Advise- don't dismiss a table of 5 for a table of 20. That party of 20 already includes 16%-18% Gratuity on their Tab, whereas a table of 5 could be giving you 20%-25% Gratuity for yourself only & not to have to share with other servers esp. if you are given cash. That table of 5 could sit there for hours just sitting and chatting and won't turn the tables over to new guest, whereas a table of 5 can eat, enjoy their meal, give good tip and leave within an hour and a half. And you'll have new table instantly, more money for you. To the kitchen staff, don't walk past your guests when they're asking you a question and as if they didn't exist. I'd hate to think it's Race Discrimination because we were the only Asians there but that's definitely how it felt. read more

They only serve their alcohol products, which is their right. Unfortunately their alcohol has the taste and effect of what I can only imagine lighter fluid would. Very bad indeed. The food is okay, but not worth the visit if I can't get a decent beer or drink as accompaniment. Hard pass. read more

Second time was even better! This visit the service was fast and friendly. The menu completely changed. All the burgers are smash burgers. The Bacon Burger was yummy. The seasoning on the fries was perfectly balanced. The orange bergamot 75 cocktail is a twist on the original French 75. We came in with a party of 9 and were seated right away. Server was nice but not very attentive. We had to ask for refills (when we could get her). She wasn't bad but not equal to our automatic gratuity that was added. The burgers were good but a little dry, fries are good. The Cobb salad was tasty as was the beer cheese soup. I personally didn't like it, the cheese sauce was too bitter for my taste and the steak sat on top of my mash potatoes, didn't care for that presentation, however to each his own. We had excellent service from Jenny! Very chipper and helpful! I had the bourbon cheeseburger, but added blue cheese in place of white cheddar and it was excellent! Fries were very good. My husband had the fish and chips and found them quite good. Nice ambience and a very nice new building, the only recommendation I would give would be if there is anything that could be done to help warm up the bar area as we were pretty chilly - enough so that we went and got our coats from the car in spite of the fact that it was four in the afternoon and a beautiful sunny day. Very disappointing experience. We came here from out of town because the website says they're pet friendly, and we planned to have dinner with our dogs on the outdoor patio. What the website doesn't mention is that the patio is only open when it's 68° or warmer. This is the Pacific Northwest, where temperatures are often below that, so this policy makes the "pet friendly" claim pretty misleading. Had this been clearly stated on the website, we would have made other plans instead of driving here. To make matters worse, the staff was rude and offered no understanding or apology. A little courtesy and clear communication go a long way. Unfortunately, this was a frustrating experience, and we won't be back. read more

I haven't eaten here a number of times, but today I came to eat a cheeseburger as part of my cheeseburger reviews project. Talking Cedars really does have a classy set up. Walking in we were greeted with friendliness and seated in an area that we liked. The hostess steered us to a talk that wasn't cold - since that was the one thing I mentioned. I hate being cold. :) I was lucky enough to order their cheeseburger from the happy hour menu. I think it is the same as the one on the regular menu. I had expected just a burger and was pleased to see it came with fries. Our server was prompt, helpful, and nice... the whole team was. The burger was a smash tyupe burger and I found the texture of the meat pleasing and tasty, just a bit of crust as some many people love on a smash burger. The condiments we fresh enough and had good flavor. When I say fresh enough I mean that the lettuce and onions didn't have a crunch to them, but they weren't mushy. Overall one of the better burgers so far. This venue would be good for anything from a family meal to some afterwork laughs or even a romantic dinner. The only reason it didn't get the fifth star is because of the condiments not being nice and crunchy. Solid place to eat and I would recommend. read more

To get to this place, make a slight detour off of Highway five on your way to or from Centralia. Good food, good beer, and good service! The restaurant is modern and clean with outdoor and indoor seating. And for brewery aficionados, you get to look into the production area from the restaurant. Their standard menu is pub fair, I had one of the specials which was a chicken-Caesar wrap, and it was excellent. I also really enjoyed the Pilsner that I had on a hot day. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping in, I'll be back myself. read more

This place used to be good but something changed. I use to be a regular there and always had good food and good service, now all they have is the good service. Something about the food changed and the quality went down and the prices went WAY up. I might go back here or there just to see if it gets better. Today we visited for lunch and sadly we found the service to be exceptionally slow! Our server, while he approached us initially, we had to engage with him about our apps, drinks, the bill, etc. my salad had a fair amount of brown lettuce and when asked to have dressing on the side, it came already on the salad! We also observed a few tables getting served before us even tho they came in after, and with simple and quick to dish up items, it was either the server or most likely, the kitchen staff. They have a bunch of beer on tap from both breweries, as well as cans in their cooler to take home. They also share this space with a distillery. The restaurant/brewery is very nice. We were seated quickly. My husband and I both got beers. The raspberry Blonde was pretty good. I ordered the steak salad, but didn't enjoy it. The steak was tough and they do not ask how you would like the steak cooked. My son and husband enjoyed their food. My son got the talking cedar cheeseburger and husband got the chicken dinner. We ended the meal with bread pudding and it was so good!! We usually don't come out to this area, but came because my son had. a soccer game here.
