I took my mom to Bar C'est L'eau today. It was so fun! Carlo stopped by and let me ask all about the history of this sweet restaurant. Then our roast chicken and potato crepe arrived. It's my favorite but it was fun because my mom was so impressed. "I've never had a crepe!" Instead of the plain black coffee she always gets, she got an Americano, and she also loved hearing why it was called an "Americano." I've loved this place since it opened but I especially love how special it made my mom feel. Love this place! Highly recommend. read more

What a find!!! 5 stars all the way. I grew up in France and had a French mom so I know French cuisine. The salad was off the charts. Excellent, the vinaigrette dressing was so aromatic and spot on and the salmon, oh my. You can't go wrong coming in here. What a nice place !!! read more

We went last week with a group of friends for dinner. Five of us in total. The ambiance was okay. Clean place, good service but intermittent screaming music. Just odd. The real issue was the food. Three out of the five were disappointed. I ordered the burger (medium) which for $26 should be amazing. It was dry and well done. Two of my friends ordered La Crepe Madame. There was so much Dijon it was overwhelming and nether ate more than a few bites. Now for the good. One of my friends had the charcuterie and French onion soup. Very good. And my other friend tried the daily special which was a butternut squash curry soup. We couldn't really taste the curry but it was still wonderful. All in all, I probably would go again unless I just wanted soup. read more

Not for large gathers especially gatherings with kids. The service was as good as it could be. Waitress was kind and patient. The place felt busy, or it was just small and loud. Good, but needs service improvement. My party of five went to brunch today and had to wait almost fifteen minutes to be greeted by our server, to get water and our menus. It wasn't busy only five tables including ours. There were plenty of other people working that would just look at our table. I have no ideas why no one would get us started. Our server did apologize for the wait, but again, it wasn't busy. He also seemed surprise no one gave us menus or water. They also need to update their online menu. I was very looking forward to trying their French onion soup that was on their online menu. However, when we got our menus the French onion soup was nowhere to be found. Instead a tomato bisque was added in its place. The server said they took it off the menu. I have no idea why a French cafe would take their French onion soup off the menu. That was a huge let disappointment . Our table of five tried a few different crepes; crepe suzette, mushroom and leak - added bacon, ham - added egg, roasted chicken and potato - add bacon. I think my mushroom and leek was the best out of them all. We also had a starter of baguette, which came with salted butter. I also had an espresso martini which was delicious. Wanted to love this place but not to my expectations. Had burger, asked for medium rare and apparently the cook didn't get that. Very dry and hard. For what I was charged and the server saw I only took two bites, you think they would have asked if everything was ok? No, just payed and let. Everything else was fine. I was so excited to try this restaurant after reading some reviews on a local FB page. The photos and reviews depicted delicious looking French Onion Soup which is what I was dying to have. There are very limited choices in the Oly area for french onion soup so I was thankful a restaurant was now serving it. When my family arrived for dinner, we were given a very limited menu. And, no french onion soup. I asked if they still had it and was told they took it off the menu and replaced it with tomato bisque. UGH. Super bummed. 11.00 for a bowl of tomato bisque? Yeah, no thank you. We ended up leaving as the choices were so limited and the prices were very high. It was 28.00 for a charcuterie board with just meats and olives. No cheese. For a very small cheese and baguette plate it was 17.00. There were only a few main entrees and all of them were expensive. No kids menu and defintely not much at all on the menu for a kid. Maybe it was intended that way, to be adults only. I love it when new businesses come to town and I so wanted to love and support this business but I just am not impressed with their limited menu nor their expensive prices. read more

I so much wanted to love this cute little restaurant, but alas! Salmon toast was extremely salty, butternut squash soup was way too rich, chickpea sandwich was not tasty- bread was very hard. Final death blow was being informed soda refills cost $3. When you pay $80 for lunch at a fairly casual restaurant, it feels petty and cheap for the restaurant to try to squeeze more money out of you for what cost them pennies. Soda was fountain and somewhat flat, so being charged for a refill is so wrong and in the end, cost them a return customer (crepe was good). We went in early, 4:00 pm. We were the only ones there for a short while. Ordered a lemon drop, which was good but Uptown Grill makes them better. Hubby ordered French onion soup and a salad. He loved the soup. I had the mushroom leek crepe which was delicious ! Our server was great and very attentive (did i mention we were the only ones there?). Hubby eager to go back. A friend and I went here on a day after we played pickleball. The place was busy so we sat at the bar. Being a waitress, I know how business plan a schedule and they were not prepared for the amount of people that day. THEY DID AWESOME!! Fantastic food! Have been a few times & food and service is always excellent! Today's special mushroom omelette & the best butternut squash soup is the best we've ever had! You must go! A new Olympia Area gem. I had the roasted chicken & potatoes crepe made as an omelette special order. They should add a roasted chicken plate entree to the regular menu. The first time we went it was so good. The food was amazing. Just went back and was so disappointed. Steaks way to charred in the outside, overpriced bouillabase served with burnt bread and a horrible saffron mayo, and a beet salad that was never delivered. I forgot to make sure it wasn't on my bill so hopefully they caught the error. I think the cut if the steak is different now...so much thinner. New Year's Eve is always hit and miss with the crowds but Bar C'est L'eau was on point! The NY steak was perfectly done and the sauce was so delicious I used the baguette to enjoy it all. My wife had the roasted chicken and potatoes where the flavors were also amazing. What an incredible surprise to be treated to such wonderful cuisine and wine selection here in Tumwater! Highly recommend giving this place a try! I love that the menu constantly evolves with the seasons. Every time there's something new I can try. Today's stand out at lunch was the heirloom tomato and stone fruit salad. I paired it with a grilled summer squash sandwich and a latte. It was perfect for this rainy August afternoon. This place just opened a few months ago and they're still learning what works and trying things out. There's a passionate, kind, and dedicated team working here. I look forward to seeing them grow as they are one of the few restaurants in the Olympia area that I keep coming back to. We tried this place for the first time today and I'm sure we'll be back. We were a group of 4- I had the mushroom & leek crepe with bacon- delicious and very filling, with lots of mushrooms and a rich sauce. My husband had the croque madame crepe and said it was great. The others in our party had the onion soup and the craft breakfast- all reportedly delicious. Eggs were perfectly cooked and the fried potatoes were very good. Eating out is expensive these days but we all felt this meal was a very good value. read more

Went there twice so far. The food is pretty good, can't complain about it. Just wanted a new place to visit, and it fits all the goals that i require. A unique taste and something different. A bit pricey but what do you expect for French food, and I must admit the Pomme Frites and pretty good. Since I spent some time in Belgium, that reminds me of the Pomme Frites from Belgium. I have visited this new spot twice now and both times have been great. The servers are very friendly and attentive. The food is good and there are menu items that are not found at many other Olympia restaurants, so it is nice to have a larger range of choices in town. The mashed potatoes here are incredible. If I could give zero stars, I would. The drinks were overpriced, the vibe was off, and worst of all the owner has the personality of a wet napkin and the attitude of someone who thinks being rude is a personality trait. Came in to have a good time and left wondering how someone so disrespectful could run a business without running it into the ground. Save your time and money go literally anywhere else. read more
