Been coming here for over 11 years but took a long hiatus. Not sure what happened but the food and service kind of went downhill. The baked goods are super dry and kind of bland and the service feels like you are bothering them. Just doesn't get me that excited anymore and there are better coffee shops in Kaimuki. It's a pity as it's such a good location and an OG in the area. read more

I love Coffee Talk! They're always busy so expect to wait in line for a bit; however, the service is always great and the employees are always pleasant! The space is very hip-feeling. Decor is what I would describe as modern-vintage (idk if that is a real thing but whatever!). My go-to beverage is their Coffee Talk Shake. In the 10+ years I've been going here, the shake is always the same, so good! Their food choices are a mix of savory and sweet and healthy. Today, I took a bite of a friend's almond croissant and it's definitely something I'd get for myself next time. I ordered the acai bowl and was less than thrilled about it. It wasn't bad but it needed a little more oomph...maybe somw honey drizzle and strawberries. Mine just came with the acai base, granola with dried cranberries, and banana slices. Overall, Coffee Talk will always be an option! Whether it's a quick order to go or a longer dine-in visit, the ambiance and quality of their drinks and food is enough to keep me coming back. read more

Something about this place is just nostalgic and it's not just the decor which I love! Every nook and cranny is filled with something quirky and cute something you'd like in your own personal cave if you'd have one lol!! Each table is almost like in it's own personal space so comforting and relaxing that you almost get lost just chilling with your Joe. As they do offer the classic and their own twist on coffee and teas, I did choose their seasonal list as it is limited time I couldn't resist. 'Tis the season for Eggnog Latte and I'll have one iced please! Though they do have milk alternative of Almond, Soy and Oat I forgot but it's okay. Not really an eggnog drinker but decided to try so I'm not sure if it is what it is but was a nice smooth drink that was just the perfect amount of yumminess. They do also have an incredible amount of baked goods including quiche, turnover, scones and sammies. With so much indoor and outdoor seatings either catching up with besties or tryna get work done, I totally recommend coming here as the municipal parking lot out back majority is complete. Kaimuki's oasis is here and I'm so blessed to have it so conveniently available. Thank you! read more

The CUTEST bar in kaimuki!! The drinks were so yummy and had such fun descriptions!!! We also loved all the food. The grilled cheese was so gourmet and had different options. The inside was so cute with its lights ambiance as well as the cute cups. The staff was so amazing with setting the best vibe and giving amazing recommendations. I would definitely come back here with friends for a birthday or a good end of a hard day. read more

This is a nice internet cafe with great coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries. They also offer alcoholic beverages, but I didn't try those. The staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, and you can use the public Wi-Fi for as long as you want. It would be better if the kitchen had a toaster oven to warm up your breakfast instead of just a public microwave. While the microwave is good for heating coffee, it made my delicious almond croissant limp and gooey. This is my first time here, but it won't be my last. read more

Great cafe located in kaimuki! delicious drinks and food. wish they had soy milk though (only have oat and almond for milk alternatives). pastries are decent! good service! line moves a little slow. perfect spot for studying/getting work done! plenty of tables and good wifi! + clean bathroom! decent sized metered parking lot in the back of the shopping complex (coin only, 25cents for 20 mins) read more

Stopped into coffee talk today for a quick lunch and I am so glad I did! I ordered the chicken caeser salad and it was perfect. They advertise it as "tangy" and it totally was. The caeser tasted unique, not like every other caeser salad and it was delicious. The croutons were great, too! Their case of pastries is too tempting to resist so I caved and got their berry and cream cheese turnover. YUM. It was flaky, with the perfect tart berry flavor mixed with cream cheese. There were a lot of people inside working on their laptops as it is a great place to get some work done with plenty of tables and countless unique coffee options. The inside is air conditioned which is also a huge bonus! There is metered street parking or a paid parking lot around the block if you plan to stay for a while. read more

Lived in Kaimuki, dined plenty in Kaimuki but in the 14 years that I've been on Oahu - this is the first time I've visited! Line was about 10 people long when we stepped in. Looks like it was a order then sit process - we got ours to-go and sat outside. Lots of drink and eating options to choose from! Drinks and food were 5/5. Clientele is majority college students studying, handful of business like meetings and a pinch of casual coffee drinkers. My only bone to pick was ordering process. They were quick to take orders but you don't pay until your order is complete. This left a congestion of us waiting to pay/pick up our order. Wish this process was a bit smoother. Also no designated area for online orders. read more

The last 2 times I've gone here, I unfortunately found that the lattes that I ordered had a weird chemical after taste to them. I'm not sure if it's the syrups or the espresso itself. The atmosphere of the cafe along with the staff was always warm, friendly and inviting. But I'm disappointed that the coffee I had did not live up to my expectations. read more

...weird line situation. not efficient. prices not posted on menu board...why? no obvious storefront sign. strange vibe.

Stumbled on this place while waiting for a nearby cafe and what a pleasant surprise it was. The outside is unassuming but as soon as you enter you are greeted with tons of artwork and neon signs as well as a menu with the most speciality drinks I've ever seen at a coffee house. Hopefully there's a line when you get there so you have some time to decided on what you want. I loved the vibe and would have stayed for a bit if I could. 5/5 to any coffee shop with tons of specialty drinks. After much thought I decided on the cinnamon roll latte. This latte has vanilla, cinnamon, and white chocolate. If you like those three things or cinnamon rolls I'd highly recommend. I really like how you don't pay until you receive your drinks. read more

I love this spot. It's slow, chill, and the food and drinks are always amazing. Perfect spot to meet with friends or get some work done.

Pleasantly surprised with the late night Talk! For last two years we've had their awesome coffee and pastries in the morning ... but now we come for late night cocktails available at night Thursday through Saturday! Our friend loves Spill the Tea but my son and I love the Whiskey Sour and New York Sour. They have a limited food menu great for late night snacking. Love the staff, although I think Brittany is one of the best mixologist! Such a great place to hang! read more

Everything you'd expect a local coffee shop to be with great food, friendly service, and that ambiance of people who are actually looking to get work done and not just looking for an instagram-able moment. I came here for a "coworking" afternoon with a coworker and it was refreshing to see so many people from all walks of life having meetings over coffee or working at their computers. I love how coffee talk actually encourages their customers to stick around instead of feeling pushed out after a few hours. The guest wifi is solid. They have tasty food selections and good coffee options. What more could you need for a productive day?! The parking situation is a bit difficult, with the lot behind the store only allowing 2hr meter parking at a time, but it's well worth it! I will be coming here again and again! read more

The matchas are wayyyy too sweet even as originals. And pricey! How you charge sum $9 when you just mix the powda in some cheap emulsifier filler oat milk? They don't even prep the matcha traditionally.. basically bulk sweet powder. Some of the baristas are kinda snoody and they don't seem to appreciate the customer. I came in for a pastry and had taken my matcha from home because I like actually good drinks with healthy ingredients done right. I left it on the table outside, it was a blank cup, no advertising anything- it was MY matcha from my house. The plan was to sit and enjoy some food from their shop while drinking my good stuff. She had such a mainland vibe type attitude about it, and called me on it and tried to lecture me! Oh no not happening, you're not even from here lady. So we had a little chat and smoothed it over, but she had to make sure I knew I was wrong. I threw away my cup to stop her yapping and complaining and still with a smile, got a pastry- but whatever is was, it was horrible. Never again. The drama , the lack of appreciation for people paying for overpriced junk, just to sit in your little shop- I found home elsewhere. Where's the aloha in ripping people off with literal JUNK? read more

Food - not everything on the menu is available. What's the point if nothing is made to order? Service - they're graceful...kinda. they move in slow motion for sure. Ambiance - caters to a very specific crowd, skip this place if you're local. Go to CBTL read more

I came to coffee talk at 12pm on a Friday, and the lot behind the Koa Pancake House was packed! I had to try the lot behind Via Gelato, which was also pretty full, but I was able to wait around to get a stall. The parking there was pretty expensive - I think I paid $4.50 for around 2 hours. When I got to Coffee Talk, they seemed pretty unorganized. Someone took my order, but I had to wait a few minutes until I paid. I asked the worker if there's still a charge for paying with card, and she said I don't think so. I didn't really trust her, so I paid with cash anyways. If you look at my receipt, they took off a percentage for the card processing, then added it back in at the bottom. I don't really know if that was a discount, considering they don't have any prices on their menu, which was kind of annoying. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I ended up getting a latte. It was super sweet and filled with creamer and milk. I also got a goat cheese sandwich with cucumbers and tomatoes. I loved this sandwich! There was a generous amount of goat cheese, as well as cucumbers and tomatoes. If you don't like cheese, I don't recommend getting this sandwich. Also, the bread they used was bomb! It was light, which went perfectly with the crunchy cucumbers. I really like the ambiance of this place, especially with the bright decor. I was sitting in the separate room on the side facing Waialae Ave, and it did get pretty hot in there. When I went, it was pretty noisy, so it might not be the best place for quiet studying. read more

Went there this morning with my wife. Great location and vibe with young and older people. Like a great neighbor hang out place. The coffee and muffin I had were both delicious. The young servers did a great job as well. However, I do suggest they display prices someplace so it's not a surprise at the register. It would be nice to know what items cost prior to ringing them up. It kind of puts pressure on the customers not to change their minds due to price if customers are waiting behind them. Also, the prepopulated tips suggestions of 20%, 25%, and 28% doesn't really associate with no table service at all. Those tip percentages are usually used for places like Roy's, Signature Steakhouse, Hy's, Merriman's, etc. read more

Finally stopped by to try this place out (had an in-person work meeting here) and was lucky enough yo find parking right in the back. There's 1 hr metered parking along the streets and the paid parking lot in the back. There's a cashier right when you get in, though you need to know their system in order to get service. You order first, and then pay when you receive your items. From what I gathered, though the cash register is on the right side of the counter, the line snakes towards the left (or at least it did for us on this day). It seemed a little chaotic when we went around 830a on a Wednesday. There's quite a bit of options for bakery items, and their beverage menu is very eclectic. We tried their muffins and curry puffs, so yummy, definitely recommend! Within the vicinity, there are lots of seats, and it looks like there's a few bar seating as well. Cafe style type of chairs and tables giving it a certain kind of vibe. The room towards the side had electric fans blowing throughout that room, I'm assuming to push the air condition around. Nothing bad, just something I noticed. All in all, a very nice and cozy space, to grab a snack, beverage or meet-up with friends. read more

Yum! Meter parking around the streets here, but also some free residential parking if you can find it. Came here twice on our most recent trip to Oahu. The first time I got an iced nutella latte. I didn't taste hazelnut at all. It was basically a mocha, and not that great. But the second time, I got a hot haupia latte. It was delicious! Plenty of seating in the cafe, but we were just fueling up before hiking. 2 large lattes came out to $12. Pretty standard for this area. read more

This coffee shop had everything!! So many options to choose from, drinks, food, alcohol. Lol literally. My fav coffee shop on the island. (I tried about 4 other coffee places while I was out there) It's definitely a vibe... I loved the atmosphere of the place, feels so laid back & welcoming, the staff were all so nice & helpful. The place was very spacious, big enough for groups to come & lounge, hangout & study. They allowed dogs inside as well. I Love that!! We got the triple shot cold brew, that was a popular drink that all the regulars seemed to be getting. My sister got the white chocolate mocha flavor & I got the brown sugar cinnamon flavor. Both so good but i liked the white chocolate mocha better :D we got coffee cake & the Ube cream cheese scone... all so tasteful & pleasantly enjoyable. read more

I grew up in palolo valley and moved away but recently ( the last 10 years) I've been revisiting Kaimuki for it eateries and coffee shops. The service here has always been top notch. The staff is friendly and attentive. There are a some food items, but if your looking for dinner - look elsewhere. If you want tasty snacks while you drink something with an ABV, absolutely. My go to is the tropical popcorn, such a delightful savory mix. The only thing this place has going for it is the abundance of seating, WiFi and outlets. It's a dependable place to get some work done. The lack of price transparency on the menu is fucking weird. Many reviews have mentioned this so it's strange that they still think it's okay to let customers find out the cost of what they're ordering after they've made the drinks and at the time of payment. Come here if you need a place to work for a bit, but go elsewhere for a better cup of coffee or specialty drink that you'll know the price of beforehand. read more

I don't usually write negative reviews, because I prefer to give businesses the benefit of the doubt. But this experience was frustrating enough that I feel the need to share. DO NOT COME HERE This coffee shop is always busy--every time I come, there's a long line, which is understandable for a popular spot. However, the service during our most recent visit was disappointing. My family and I (three of us) stopped by, and when it was our turn to order, the cashier only took one person's order before walking away without asking if we needed anything else. We were left standing there, unsure if we should wait, step aside, or if she was coming back. Meanwhile, the other cashier continued taking orders from customers behind us. After some confusion, she returned with the first coffee and then asked what else we wanted. We placed the rest of our order, and again, she walked away without any clear communication. At that point, the payment screen was facing us, so we assumed everything had been entered and went ahead with the payment. We then stepped aside to avoid blocking the register. When our drinks were ready, we picked them up and sat at our table, still waiting for the sandwich. That's when the cashier approached us, saying we hadn't paid. We were confused because we thought we had. Instead of handling it with understanding, one of the staff (an older lady) made a big deal about us not knowing their process and insisted that we shouldn't have rung ourselves up. But how were we supposed to know? There was no communication, no guidance--just silence and assumption. Although the situation was eventually resolved, we didn't feel valued as customers. We didn't expect over-the-top service, just clear communication and a little appreciation. It feels like they're too busy to care about local customers, which is disappointing. We live just five minutes away and were excited to bring our family here instead of a big chain like Starbucks, hoping to support a local business. Unfortunately, this experience ruined what should have been a nice outing. I wouldn't recommend this place. The disorganization, poor communication, and lack of basic customer service make it not worth the time or money. There are plenty of other coffee shops where you'll get better service, quality coffee, and a more welcoming experience. read more
