The first time I waited for 4 hours and got sent home right before donating due to vein size and I went again and waited another for 4 hours as a new donor again and got sent home AGAIN for medication that was approved the first time no problem. Don't really have anything bad to say about this location. I moved to Oregon a few months prior to writing this and needed extra cash to help with troublesome times, and this was a perfect opportunity. Your first time donating did take about 4/5 hours but after that first time it takes no longer than 2 hours. Only reason it can take up to 2hrs is because of short staff, but that is no reason to complain in these troubling times. If you have extra time and want extra money (and do a good deed) I highly recommend this place. read more

A friend of mine asked me to go with her to Talecris to donate plasma for our good deed of the year (and to get some extra cash - I guess that negates our good deed!) It took a total of six hours as we were first timers. There's a lot of hoops you have to jump through on your first visit. You do not need an appointment and can just walk in but I suggest going very early if it's your first time. You must bring a current picture ID, a social security card, and fill out the registration form. Then you will be called up several times for an in depth screening and to make sure you are not a needle junkie or into other high risk behavior. You can all rest assured that I passed with flying colors and I didn't even laugh when I was asked if I had just returned from the Congo or had been in contact with anyone with ebola. I proudly displayed my track free elbows and finger webs and gleefully gave a urine sample to prove that I wasn't on pain meds or methamphetamines. Boo-yah! I passed everything! The actual procedure wasn't much fun and consists of a needle poke by a large hollow needle. After blood is taken out and spun around in the machine, your red blood cells are returned to you and then the next cycle begins. I shivered, I shook, I almost passed out, but the staff were on me like white on rice to get me quickly feeling better and I am very happy to say that, after a long day, it was mission accomplished! If you refer a friend and they donate twice you get 50 bucks, and you really are doing a good deed by donating plasma as it is used to create medicine for those with blood illnesses. What's your reason to donate plasma? is a campaign from their corporate center to help people feel better about donating, but I chuckle because if they didn't pay us, I doubt their waiting room would be so full. My first visits I was embarrassed that I had to be there to come up with money, but the excellent staff keeps it light bordering on fun. I'd like to mention some stand out people, but I haven't met one of the staff that isn't exceptionally nice, friendly and professional, really not one butthead in the whole place that I've met. I don't like the Grifols branding on their giveaways and on my card. Corporate Grifols really loves their logo, it's on the debit card they pay you with and on the umbrella I won on bed bingo. I don't like to be marked publicly that I donate plasma for money. These are marketing materials that diminish the fact I won a gift. Want to give me a gift? Friking make it a gift and not bilboard advertising corporate. The excelent staff makes up for my one nit to pick. These guys really earn the 5 stars day in day out and make it easy for me to come back next week. read more

A magical place where good things go to die. I have tried and failed twice in the last ten years to donate. This place is actually offensive and discriminates against all but the most straightlined of lifestyles. A first time donor has to wait about 4 hours or so to go through the process. After suffering through The Hannah Montana Movie and Rush Hour 3, the made a mistake and accidentally said I had been to Gabon. That disqualified me, which was super frustrating since I wasted do much time. They told me they were sorry and that I would have to go to Eugene to the main office so they could revert that. I of course didn't do that. That was ten years ago, so whatever. However, once again it was an epic failure after much effort I had to prove my social security, but I lost my card. I had a tax return, but that's not accepted. So I had to go to the library and print of W-2's. That was kind of my own fault, so even though that's annoying, that's on me. This time I almost completed everything. Did physicals, answered a ton of questions, many of which the same ones (No, I haven't had sex for money with a guy since 1997), and patiently waited. Finally, after waiting about 4 hours I went through one final round of questions. I guess I should have just lied, because as I found out afterwards, that what the majority of people do. I smoke marijuana regularly, I don't see anything wrong with that. Plus it is legal in Oregon. The doctor told me I would have to go to rehab and get a certificate proving I completed the program if I wanted to donate. It takes a lot to offend me, but that did the job. That question could have been asked at the beginning which would have saved much time. Plus, it's denying people blood who needs it. There's no detriment to receiving blood from a marijuana smoker. Plus, all blood gets tested for diseases and whatnont anyway. So it just boils down to discrimination. They also discriminate against gays, anyone who has been in prison, anyone who travels, etc. If they test every blood sample anyway, their bases are covered. Stupid and unnecessary regulations hurt the people who need blood the most. read more

This place sucks!!! Seriously a HUGE WASTE OF TIME!!! I am never coming back! I have been a donor there about almost a year. Then the past 6 month mark comes I have to take a physical my veins and blood are good I pass every time but employees keep screwing off 7 going on 10 times I have been coming in "oh no there's a glitch in the computer oh no we forgot to check his speed"! They have to come up with any excuse everytime! This morning on 10/23/18 I came in to give them another chance nope just because my address changed I can't donate anymore I haven't even been here in months! I will not recommend anyone coming to this place and I will prevent people for coming in here they will screw up and you will have a bad experience every time and walk out disappointed! Just let me donate there's nothing wrong with me! You guys know me! I have been donating with them about a year! This place has lost my respect and loyalty. Anyways Fuck that plasma center! So I was deferred a few years ago from donating, not because there was something wrong with my plasma, or that I had some STD or something, but because I have a shellfish allergy. SHELLFISH. Been donating here for about two months and they always keep their promise of 90 minute or less appointment, assuming you make sure you're ready and on time too. Lots of tv monitors, books to entertain yourself with during donation. Also a free water cooler for making sure you're hydrated. Comprehensive screening process that goes for about 3-4 hours first time around, about 90 after that. Cool contests every month too with prizes for 4-6 donations per month. Pay is decent, but make sure you do a happy hour donation (12pm-1pm) if you can to make an extra $5--first few donations per month are as low as $25, can go up to $50 by 6th. New donors will get $50 for first 4 visits only. Staff is really accommodating and friendly. Great at troubleshooting too and really take care of tough medical situations. Donation process is relatively easy and you'll get well wrapped up. Obviously a hard process if you want a beer or cup of coffee every day, but schedule yourself well and you can make okay money. Just be persistent to get those dollars. read more

The staff is what makes this place great! Even when they are swamped they find a way to remain upbeat, cheerful and helpful. I've been donating since March 2016 and every time I walk through the door I am greeted with a smile. Thank you to Holly for always saying "Hi" when she sees me. :) Don't show up to donate if you are in a hurry. My advice to potential donors is to plan on a regular donation taking a minimum of 2 hrs (check-in, screening and donation). And don't forget to drink a ton of water the day before donating and the day of----makes the donation time go much more quickly. Tired of there discriminatory staff. My wife showered before we came in and i hadnt showered in a few days and they pulled my wife aside for body odor. But everytime she puts on makeup there is no issues. The new appointment system is a joke. Used to take twos hours at most to get in and out. Now takes three to four hours. Glad that i don't count on the money from this and we do it for the cause because were done after this month you can only be insulted so many Times. read more

I swear this place sucks so bad , after 4 hours I was able to donate , I got a little nauseous the late 5 minutes and they took me off and told me if I want to donate again id havr to call next week and see if the doctor approved me. I called today before making an appointment told everyrhing was fine for me to come in, go in for a 2 oclock app , was told I needed to be reinstated , was tolf it would take 5-10 minutes, after 50 minutes I asked what was going on , the lady forgot about me and went on lunch , she said sorry and i was told id get the next slot to be screened , waited another 40 minutes with 6 people getting screened . at 4 I finally said nevermind ive been here since 4 , been forgotten about and told the wrong info . totally not worth it at all . lazy staff. read more

I've been donating at this center since July of last year. Through the last couple of months I have seen a great change for the better! I don't know what changed but do remember filling out survey and believe they have listen to the feed back. It has become very enjoy place to donate since then! This was the first donation center I've been to and I've had (almost) nothing but great experiences. The staff is courteous and quick and explains everything to you every step of the way. They actually learn your name and take the time to make you feel valued. My favorite is Jason, who thinks he's hilarious. They run great specials every month to keep you coming back and they keep the wait as short as possible. I'll definitely continue to donate with them! I wanted to donate to help pay some bills and at the same time it helps people who need plasma. I first had to gain 10 pounds to meet qualifications for donating in which i did. The first appointment for donation i got a little light headed and couldn't donate my full amount though i drank more 96 oz of water, i ate 4 hours earlier rather than 2 hours therefore caused me to get light headed. My chart was pulled and i was advised to make sure to drink plenty of water and eat no more than 2 hours earlier prior to appt. The following appts i did just that but had bad experiences because out of ALL the technicians there, ONLY 2 of them could stick someone with small veins. If i didn't get lucky with my appt time and neither one of the two were there i got technicians that couldn't stick me right or had to re stick me causing big bruises and or blood clots so i couldn't finish donating. I was able to donate if i got lucky and one of the two experienced technicians were there. I understand that not everyone is a good candidate for donating. However, i was pulled into the room by one of the head medical staffs supervisor Rosie and the DEMEANOR in which she spoke to me in was DEGRADING. It was as if she pulled me into the room ASSUMING and SCOLDING me that i was not following their directions about drinking and eating before donating when that was not correct. I made sure i had been drinking 96-128 oz of water a day even days i did not donate because i measured how much i drank with my re-cycled gatorade bottles and ate 1 hour prior to donating, but she did not ask me if i did. She scolded me as if i were not trying and i was just wasting their time! She also made the comment that they had to check on me and re-adjust my needle sometimes. She then later corrected herself and stated "oh but we don't mind that's our job" after the fact she was rude to me. VERY BAD BAD EXPERIENCE AT LOCATION IN SALEM OREGON !!!! read more

I was able to donate once, and now because of machine malfunctions, they can't get my blood pressure. I know that it is normal, and asked that it be read manually, but I was told that they only use the automatic machines to check blood pressure and that they often malfunction on some people, and there is nothing they can do, but I am more than welcome to come in again in a day, wait 2 hours and have them try again. After hearing about how often their machines go down from other donors, I feel that this is just a big company that is too cheap to buy proper equipment. And after hearing about their referral program and referring multiple people, I am told that I won't be paid for them until i donate again, even though they won't let me. It is really unfortunate. I am willing to donate, and the staff is amazing, but I won't be able to keep wasting my time or theirs. Please have a back up for when your equipment does not work. read more
