I always have an amazing meal each time I come here. The dining room is cozy, warm & inviting. All of my servers in the past have been knowledgable & kind. Get their omakase, it's a fun experience!

Winter Omakase - the experience was delightful and the chef did an excellent job pairing the food with the selection of sake. We also paired with their NA cocktails, my first, and two thumbs up for the choice of mixture. We were happy with our choices of going with the omakase instead of Ala carte. The staff was all so friendly and informative. We had a reservation and were seated almost immediately. Questions regarding the dishes were described and answered intelligently. The restaurant has an open kitchen with a "fireplace" or wood fire grill. I love how one is able to observe and enjoy the workings of the kitchen . And also, the atmosphere was calming and surprisingly quiet (there was a table with eight) which allowed for conversation to take place without yelling across the dinner table, which is my pet peeve. So the experience was pleasant and positive and I would return and try their lunch menu.

The missus and I went here tonight for Dining Month. It was all fantastic. From the service to the quality of the dishes - and after observing the other patrons, I could see that we didn't get lesser service simply because we were there fornthe discounted experience. We are already making plans for our next visit.

Such a cool spot behind the Snow Peak store on 23rd. When we went, they had a limited menu due to short staffing. I was excited to try their grilled menu but it wasn't available at the time so it was a shame. We got their ramen and some sushi. Their ramen was very good and was very different from all other ramen I have tried before. The quality of their fish is immaculate. Their yellowtail jalapeno was delicious.

Ambiance: 10/10 Visibly stunning space. If you arrive to the area early, luckily you're in the Nob Hill area and lots of walkable entertainment. If you're lucky enough, they do have a couple of spaces for parking in the back lot otherwise you are hopeful for street parking in this very busy area. The outdoor store also attached to the restaurant serves as a good browsing for outdoor goods. Service: 6/10 A lot left to be desired. Firstly, we arrived early within minutes prior to opening hours. We checked in and acknowledged our early arrival, the staff politely asked to wait a few more minutes-we obliged by waiting by the wood seating area within feet of the glass door. Then an elderly couple went in to check in and were seated right away so we walked back in then were seated. The actual service itself wasn't outstanding. The orders did appear to come when they were ready from various servers-it wasn't out of order. Food: 8/10 Great! No complaints. We didn't do the omakase offerings this time and elected to try a little bit of everything. I enjoyed the wasabi here as complimentary to fresh fish options. I enjoyed the Panko Shrimp for its super extra crunchiness-my partner didn't. Both daily hand rolls were good selection. The unagi maki was a good size and good. I would probably come back just to the ramen. But the seafood/experience for me, isn't a must return. Value: 7/10

We had heard a lot of good things about this place and went here for a dinner date. It was fun experience overall. The disappointing thing was that they were out of tuna and salmon possibly because it was a Sunday night but I wish they had planned their supply chain better. That's why we could not try their sushi rolls fully and had to stick to entrees. Our server was nice to check availability for dishes and gave us suggestions for good sake. We got both the flights and all were great and tasty. We got the black cod which was the star of the show, chicken karage was amazing as well, spicy edemame was great as well. We got the unagi roll which wasn't too good, we also did not enjoy the a5 takamori drunken wagyu nor did we like matcha ice cream but that's probably because we don't like matcha in general. We would come back to try the lunch menu!

It was our first time dining at Takibi tonight. It was mine & my husband's 24th anniversary & we had planned to stop by Snow Peak for the first time simply to purchase titanium sporks (of all things) since we were in the area for something else. Never heard of Takibi beforehand. We were worried they were reservation only, but since it was right when they opened at 4:30pm, they sat us without issue. Having menu options à la carte was a unique experience. Most restaurants of similar caliber typically pair stuff up for you and either allow or disallow substitutions. The waiter even pointed out that they had a side of rice which made me chuckle (out of all other items) while ordering my entrée. I chose the ribeye & eating meat with a bowl of rice is normal for most Asians (which I am), so I wondered if that was why the waiter pointed that out specifically? The part that ultimately made me remove stars was having a different waitress(?) bring over the bowl of rice... alone. Just the bowl of rice without the ribeye entrée. 5 minutes later, it was just sitting there on the table by itself and had gotten cold. We had to flag down our waiter to ask about it, and he just coldly responded "your food is coming soon." He started walking away, backed up again, took the lonely bowl of rice away without another word. If anything, he seemed irritated/annoyed that we even asked about it. When the ribeye entrée arrived (about 10 minutes laterー a total of 15 minutes after the lonely bowl of rice was left on our table), I think they may have just combined the old colder rice with a little bit of newer rice into a different bowl because it was a bit dry and mixed cold/warm. That was rather disappointing but still edible. Not sure if it's because they are operated by Americans (USians?), but they didn't seem to realize that ordering a bowl of rice together with the ribeye entrée meant I would be eating both together, not each alone. Is that cultural ignorance or just sloppy delivery/timing? The way the waiter rudely dismissed the issue and walked off made it feel like it was my fault. No apology or explanation. If it was busy/packed/full, I'd understand the curtness, but for most of our visit , we were the only ones inside (since it was right after opening on a Monday). We would have tipped more if he didn't brush our issue off so nonchalantly. Other than that strange situation, the food quality was really good. The savory/sweetness balance of the salad my husband ordered was incredible! Probably the best tasting salad we've ever had. He also inhaled his salmon entrée. I had requested the bonito and scallions be placed on the side of the ribeye since I wasn't sure if I'd like it together, but it was amazing! I mean the steak alone was great, but I wanted to try what the chef had in mind with the combination and I can see why they chose to combine them! Never imagined steak topped with bonito flakes tasting that good! Hopefully the service improves the next time we dine here. They probably don't even bother reading these reviews, but as somebody else commented, "good food cannot compensate for service." Some people shouldn't be waiters. Ambiance: 9/10 Service: 4/10 Food: 9/10

omakase dessert green tea ice-cream, mochi cake and berries
    Lisa Y.

Omakase menu lacked wow factor that would make me want to come back. Everything was good just not outstanding. I thought the dessert was lazy, mochi cake was good but the green tea ice cream with a little dish of blueberries and strawberry is something I can grab from my own fridge.

We came here on a double date after hearing consistently great things. The food itself was good and that is the only reason this review is one star. Unfortunately, the service was genuinely awful and completely overshadowed the experience. From the start, we felt like an inconvenience. It took over 30 minutes for anyone to come take our order. When a server finally did, their attitude was dismissive and strange. There was even a comment made that implied surprise that we wanted to order food at all, which was uncomfortable and confusing in a restaurant of this caliber. Throughout the night, we were handled by three different servers, all of whom were rude, unaccommodating, and rarely checked on us. There was no warmth, no attentiveness, and no sense that we were welcome. When the food came out, we noticed that two items from our order never arrived. We asked if everything had come out, and we were told yes. We then clarified that we were certain two items were missing. At that point, the response was, "Do you still want them?" By then, we had finished eating and said no, since we were wrapping up our date. Later, while we were still sitting and talking, we decided we would take one of the missing items after all, the skirt steak. When it arrived, it was ice cold. It was obvious that the dish had been prepared earlier, charged to our bill, never delivered, and then served to us much later after sitting. While the item was eventually comped, serving cold food due to a service failure is unacceptable. What made this experience worse was the consistent attitude from the staff. Two female servers with dark brown/black hair and a male server with glasses were all noticeably curt and unpleasant. Every person at our table noticed it. It felt like we were unwanted, despite ordering generously and being polite throughout the night. This place felt dismissive and disorganized. Good food cannot compensate for service that makes guests feel uncomfortable and disregarded. We left a measly tip to signal our displeasure but I didn't think they deserved a tip at all. We wanted to love this place. Instead, we left disappointed and frustrated.

Have you ever used chopsticks to enjoy ribeye expertly-cooked in a beautiful indoor open wood fire grill with perfectly-charred edges, tender centers, and flavorful seasonings in an exquisite Japanese-inspired restaurant where you can also melt into the experience of using chopsticks to fully lean in to the taste and gorgeous texture of hamachi carpaccio swimming in delightfully-stunning sauce and then when you set those chopsticks down, you get the pleasure of sipping a special frothy tangy cocktail with mezcal? I have. And you can too.

First of all, it's so nice that this restaurant has a parking lot and an accessible parking space. The inside is beautiful. We did the 7 courses omakase and tried both of their mocktails and the sake pairing. The verdant growth was my favorite of the two mocktails. I would have loved to hear a little bit more about the sake that was paired with each course. We mostly just got the name of it. The food was delicious, with the highlights being the salmon collar, the rice, and the tempura. We did the omakase with three people, I'm curious if the portions would be mostly the same size with two. The sashimi was also fresh and delicious. The restrooms were accessible, large, and gender neutral. Overall, great experience and would love to return to try the ramen!

The vegan miso spicy ramen is 10/10!! So good! The meat isn't that great imo, but everything else pretty good. I'd only go here for ramen

The restaurant itself was nice and my cocktail, the "Kiki", was good but the food was just not it. We ordered the 5 piece tuna chu-toro. Which was mediocre and then ordered the Portland salmon roll which was just bad. It had no flavor and too much rice. And tbh after those 2 we didn't order anymore because it wasn't worth it.

Drank almost half before I took a photo, great mocktail!

We shared the cream cheese wontons, coconut curry with chicken spice level 2(which comes with rice), and the luc lac. Everything was deliciousss! The chicken in the curry broke apart so easily and the curry itself was very flavorful. Spice level 2 was perfect for a little kick, but not too much. The meat on the luc lac has a nice char on it and a sauce that is almost sweet. Service is quick and the vibe inside is very trendy with colorful decor and lights. Great for a night out. Previous visits have sometimes left us confused as if we ordered something different than a usual so i would say it is not too consistent but great if you catch it on a good day.

They took our drinks order and handed the drinks while we were in the line. Once we got to the register, we put in our food order and paid. The restaurant was semi self served. We got to our table few minutes after ordering. Guests also had the option to order to go and dine in the tent tables outside. The interior of the place was so stunning. There were dragon on walls, umbrellas in the ceiling, a huge full service bar. Our dishes came out within few minutes. We got the chicken skewers, chicken pho, chicken luc lac and steak rolls. We liked the small plate dishes, but the entree ones were disappointing. The chickens were chunky and dry, bland flavor. As much as we loved the vibe of the place, we didn't enjoy the food as much. The staff members were very joyful and friendly. They were explaining the process to every guest and keeping everyone informed on waiting time. During dining, they were also available to help.
