Wow! Let me just say the food is amazing but what really stood out to me is their customer service. I accidentally ordered from the site for pick up when I actually meant to order delivery. I called and Ronald picked up and apologized for the confusion. He said he would personally deliver my order. I offered to pay for delivery but he said there was no need. Ordered the Bao Out meal package through UberEats for delivery! I got the crispy spicy aioli shrimp bao, teriyaki pork belly bao, crispy vegetable dumplings, cinnamon sugar bao-nut, and a raspberry tea that was separate from the package. Everything was a little bit on the more expensive side in addition to delivery fees, but the experience was worth it. I wouldn't order from here regularly because of the price, but once in a while doesn't hurt. Everything was nicely packaged and secure when it got to my door. The Bao Out meal package is perfect if you want a heavy lunch or ideally better for a 1 person dinner. There's enough food for 2 people or 1 hungry person! The pork belly bao was tender, but there was nothing too special about the flavor. The shrimp bao stayed crispy even after the delivery, which was great. Vegetable dumplings were well filled but might opt for pork or chicken next time. I was excited for the Bao Nuts! They are similar to those Chinese sugar donuts you see in buffets. They were much denser than I expected, but still good! Raspberry tea was everything I expected. The icing on the cake was the handwritten note they left with the order! This place was so good! I was wanting some good food from UberEats and decided on this place. The price is decent! It's totally different from your traditional bao. It's not fully in closed, it's more like a sandwich, they put your meat inside a sub-like bao thing with somw veggies and sauce. It's also very big compared to a traditional bao, but i feel like it's a weird comparison because they're so different! Delicious bao sandwiches! We tried 3 of the veggie bao and everything tasted great. Crispy tofu and cauliflower, yummy sauces, soft fresh bao. We can't wait to go back. Cons: 1. We didn't realize this was a ghost restaurant until we got there - I wish this was more apparent from the website. There are only a couple of seats inside - we had to wait to sit down. 2. There aren't any napkins/condiments/etc. readily available - if you need any extra utensils for example, you need to go up to the counter and ask. 3. Was in the area and heard about Take a Bao. Always been a fan of gua bao when I've had it in LA / NY but was never really a place that served them in Chicago until now. Glad they brought this here and that they're taking on a new, innovative twist to it, and the execution was perfect! My buddy had the ponzu chili chicken, I had the teriyaki pork belly, and each topping complemented each other so well together! Made me want to order a second one. The bao nut and cinnamon bao had a perfect crisp on the outside and warm and soft inside. I've always enjoyed these kinds of baos with condensed milk, and that lemon zest was definitely a nice kicker to the taste. I did try the cinnamon bao in the condensed milk too but was a tad sweet.
