Definitely a mixed bag with this place. I've been twice. The first visit went smoothly. I had read reviews saying they try to upsell unnecessary services, so since I had just changed my air filter the week before, I was ready to push back if they tried to sell me a new one. To their credit, the tech checked it and told me it didn't need replacing, which was a nice surprise. The oil change itself was quick, hassle-free, and I only waited about 10 minutes before getting into the bay. The second visit also seemed fine at first. The oil change was fast, there was no major upsell pressure, and I left without any obvious issues. But about two days later, I noticed my heat shield was dragging on the ground while I was driving, which was not great. That stood out because I've never had a problem with the heat shield before. On my car, the heat shield has to be loosened or removed to access the oil drain area. I can't say for certain that Take 5 forgot to reinstall it or put it back incorrectly, because I can't prove that. But when a part that had never given me trouble suddenly comes loose right after an oil change where it had to be handled, that connection is pretty hard to ignore. You obviously can't have a dragging piece of metal potentially rip off while driving and damage another car or hurt someone, so I needed to have this fixed immediately. This was a pretty massive inconvenience, as I had to drop what I was doing (going to work) to swing by the dealership to have them fix the issue. Overall, I probably won't be back and will stick to going to the dealership for oil changes moving forward, strictly for peace of mind, knowing that the dealership exclusively handles my make. However, on a positive note, I will say that the convenience of not having to get out of your car and getting in and out with brand new oil in under an hour is hard to beat. read more

12/2/2025 at 10:44 am is when the "oil change was completed" 11:14 is when I discovered the damage. Absolutely nothing is worse than leaving a prized possession with people you should be able to trust and then receiving that possession severely damaged. Ac is blowing a horrible oil smell, the car stalled out and the oil light came on. This is what happened when I took my brand new vehicle to this establishment. I had a notification on my dash to get an oil change. When I received vehicle back it was shaking. They tried to figure out what was done incorrectly. I went to Take 5 Oil Change over Easter weekend for a routine oil change. While there, I was offered a coolant flush, with the explanation that every car needs one eventually. Trusting their recommendation, I agreed. Let me be clear--my car was running perfectly before this visit. I've had it for just about a year, it had only 62,000 miles on it, no issues, no warning lights, and no strange noises. It was in great shape. During the service, my car's overheating light came on. I was told it would go off eventually. But as soon as I drove off, the car began jerking and couldn't accelerate properly. I immediately returned. They said it might be air bubbles in the tubing and offered a second flush. I tried to drive again, hoping the issue would resolve. It did not. The car crawled at 5mph, continued to show overheating warnings, and I had to turn around again--it was unsafe to drive. I refused a third flush and was told they would tow the car to a mechanic. By Monday, I was informed that I had to find a mechanic myself, though they'd offer a complimentary tow. I ended up carless for two weeks, relying on Lyft just to get to work, while Take 5 continuously denied any responsibility for the damage caused. BEWARE I went here for two back-to-back oil changes. When I went for the second oil change they asked, "Who did your last oil change!?" in an alarmed tone and when I responded, "You." they immediately changed the subject. I tried to ask why they asked that question (obviously something was up for them to have asked that question) and they gave me a non-answer. During the 2nd oil change they brought out this big machine (oil extractor) to suck the oil out that they did NOT use on my first oil change here because they couldn't drain the oil from the oil pan because on my first visit they had overtightened and stripped out the drain plug! (They of course did not inform me of this, I had to learn this from a company with actual integrity). Their shoddy work and then LYING about it and trying to cover it up after I said my last oil change was done by them and not wanting to own up or even tell me the extent of the issue led to a huge oil leak that corroded wires in my engine and fried my car's PCM and led to my car DYING. Disappointed I have to leave a review for this location. The techs working here are friendly & fun but boy did they ruin my car. TLDR, I received a coolant flush and this $140 service caused $5400 in damages and repairs as well as $1200 in rental car fees and Take 5 has denied any and all responsibility and ignores any of my communications for a resolution. I drive a 2000 Toyota 4Runner with 122k miles. I've had the car for a year and half and bought it in near perfect condition besides needing a paint job. I have only received one oil change from this same location, otherwise, no serious preexisting issues. My last oil change with this location they recommended I get a coolant flush due to being in a hot state, they recommended one be done before summer (likely as an upsell, but sounded like an important job & I trusted them the first time). I came to them right before a 2hr trip north just as a normal preventative measure, I keep my car in the best shape I can whenever I have the means for it. They performed my coolant flush with whatever device they had, my car was running with my AC blasting, which I assume to be procedure. In the middle of the service, they swapped out the flushing device for a new one, unsure the reasoning but possibly the cause of my damage (I assume cavitation was the cause). When I finish my service I asked the tech if I was all set as I am planning to road trip immediately after this service. He said I was good to go, but notified me of my coolant being a "weird color." I asked what would cause this issue and he said possible mixing of the wrong coolant from previous services and I told him my last and only service was done with them. Not much was exchanged afterwards and he said I am good to go. 1 hour into my drive, I stop for gas and notice a MASSIVE leak coming from my engine bay. I had frothy orange fluid seeping from my coolant reservoir tank and coolant cap, this fluid was everywhere on the exterior of my car and everywhere in the engine bay. For lack of better description, it looked like it was alive & a product of one of the volcano science experiments gone wrong. Immediately, I am alarmed and take it to the nearest shop, which so happened to be the Toyota dealership 14 minutes away. I had to purchase a rental since I was on a camping trip hauling a lot of gear and food. Toyota reached out and inquired about any recent services, I said I had a coolant flush done earlier in the day and they said without a doubt that was the cause of this issue and I should not be held responsible for the damages. They provided me with the quote for $5400 and I asked if we could perform some services (unaware of the extent of damages) they informed me all services need to be done to ensure they get a proper flush of this now sticky and contaminated substance in my cooling system and ensure it does not seep into the engine. In summary, I need a new radiator, radiator hoses, water pump and more! I requested we held off until i received communication from take 5's legal team in the event they'd like to inspect the car. After two weeks, Take 5's legal team reached out and said they will deny liability because these issues were not caused by the coolant flush but likely a faulty head gasket.... A couple of red flags: - not once did take 5 or any representative reach out to Toyota (the car manufacturer) to confirm any damages or get their diagnostics personally (outside of the ones i provided in my claim to Take 5) - Toyota confirms there is nothing wrong with my head gasket & my car showed no signs if a head gasket failure, my temp gauge was normal and I had no smoke coming from my exhaust. - they did not provide me with any written confirmation of their denial for liability NOR did they provide me with any communication on how they came up to this conclusion without a sufficient investigation. After this denial, I sent a formal complaint of negligence to the 3 representatives that I spoke with as well as their customer service team and no one has reached out or responded. If you refuse to be financially liable for the damages your team caused, the LEAST you can do I provide an explaination on how you can to the conclusion. The amount of damages done essentially totals my car. I have been without a car for a month and a half. I would never recommend Take 5, I'm sure there are competent and well meaning technicians, but the way my situation was handled was atrocious, unprofessional and frankly disrespectful. read more

A very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. I would NOT recommend coming here when it's hot out and/or with a young child in the car. There should be a serious warning when arriving, letting you know that you will be stuck in your hot car for longer than 10 minutes, and give you options for what to do if it becomes too hot. Honestly it was a little scary. First, it was not clear at all where I should go when I pulled in for my oil change. There was a car in the bay ahead of me, but nobody else in line. I pulled up behind them and waited awkwardly for at least 5 minutes for someone to greet me or direct me on where to go. Neither of the men working were friendly to me. I waited a few more minutes for them to start on my car. They handed me one water bottle, did not offer one for my child (who I of course shared the one bottle with), and then told me to turn the car off. They did not suggest I roll my windows down first, or anything to minimize the heat. I hadn't thought through the fact that we wouldn't be able to run the a/c in the car, and now we were just stuck inside a hot car during 100 degree weather. I thought there would be some kind of coolers or fans blowing in the garage, but there was nothing that I could tell. They did not offer that it would be okay for us to get out and walk around, and there was no option of a lobby or anything to wait in. Maybe this wouldn't have been too bad if the oil change was truly only 10 min, but of course it took closer to 20-25 min. We were stuck in a hot car this whole time. By the time we were done, my daughter was crying and her head was covered in sweat. It was awful. ALSO during this whole time, one of the guys kept coming up to my window (the only one I had been able to roll down before shutting my car off), and upselling me on things. He even went over to my passenger side door, opened, it and removed the air filter behind my glove box just to show me my dirty air filter and ask if I want to buy a new filter from them. I was SO UNCOMFORTABLE being stuck in my hot car, with my daughter sweaty and crying, and some strange man letting himself into my car and moving things around while I have to sit there. I am baffled at how *waiting in the car* here is supposed to be a superior experience to sitting in an air conditioned lobby and being left alone while they work on the car. And I'm even more baffled at how it's okay and safe for them to do this in Arizona where we have the most heat-related deaths, without doing anything to help keep the passengers comfortable. It really didn't feel okay to me, and needless to say, I will not be returning. Oh, and for this *premium* experience, I was charged $20 more, for a lesser grade of oil than at the usual chain I go to. It was $90 total, for just the oil change, even after the coupon. read more

I encourage anyone who reads this to think twice before bringing your vehicle into Take 5. My husband brought in my 2024 Kia Carnival for an oil change a few months ago. We bought the car brand new so this was the FIRST ever oil change for the car. We had never been to a Take 5 before, but we live down the street and it was convenient. Everything seemed to be fine until it came time for my next oil change. The technician drained the old oil out of my car only to find that the person who performed the previous oil change put the filter in incorrectly which caused major damage to the threading in the oil filter housing. 4 different employees tried to get a new filter in to change the oil on my car and were unable to due to the damage that Take 5 caused. We have 3 children under 5 and had plans to drive to California the very next day. Our car was now unable to be driven since they could not replace the oil. My husband took an Uber home and we began scrambling to find a rental car big enough to fit 3 car seats and all of our belongings so that we wouldn't have to cancel the trip we had been planning for months. Thankfully, we were able to find one and still go on our trip. Not so thankfully, we were now out nearly $1,000 we hadn't planned to spend due to Take 5's negligence. That was just for the rental car and does not even include the 1,200-1,500 dollars we were quoted to fix the damage they had done to my car. Not only was our family out that money, we were also severely inconvenienced due to my husband then having to take the rental car back to where my car was being stored until it was able to be driven again, remove all 3 of our children's car seats, reinstall them in the rental car and then do the process all over again once my car was finally fixed. We, of course, contacted Take 5 immediately and filed a claim in hopes that they would do the right thing and reimburse us for the damage to my vehicle. Unfortunately, after weeks of back and forth, they denied our claim despite us providing every bit of proof they asked for right away. To say we are livid is an understatement. Not a great experience. The service took a long time and unfortunately, I had a trainee helping me. It's extremely hot though they did give us bottled water. I had to remind them to fill the tires. I left and realized they never gave me windshield wiper fluid, so I turned around. When I asked them to give me wiper fluid they basically ignored me and made me wait in line again. This place just opened in January 2023 so you can come in and get an oil change in 15 minutes or less before they start to get popular. I pulled right up and they immediately started working on my car. I was also provided a complementary bottle of water. The staff appeared very friendly There's only one thing I did not like and that was miscommunication on price. Before I pulled in for service, the tech that greeted me explained that since they are a new location, I will have a $20 coupon. During the service, I was asked if I wanted them to replace my air filter (it needed it; they showed me) . I was told that the cost of my air filter would be $13. So naturally thinking that was a great deal, I said go ahead and change the filter. The coupon that they gave me took $20 off the bill and the price of my filter is still $30. Misleading? Yes, Very! I've never in my life paid $100 for an oil change that included the air filter so yes , I'm pissed. Also , I was spoken to in a condensing way that the prices here are higher compared to the city I moved from. I honestly came here out of convenience (my regular mechanic is booked this week) and the fact that I've used Take 5 before. They normally do a good job. This last time I went, I will never go back. They accidently charged me for services that weren't needed. So they charged me again, for the correct amount. They said I'd get the extra charge refunded back to me. Ok, great! But.... I have since then gone up there four times, to see what was taking so long. It has been a month, since the initial transaction. They said their district manager would call or email me, in 7 to 10 business days. Again, a month has gone by and nothing has been done. So I had to use other sources to get my almost $300 dollars worth back. They acted like they didn't care about my situiation. After leaving this place, the under shield that's removed to access the area you need to change the oil started dragging on the road...so I went right back to the shop to have them fix it same day before they closed. The guys were laughing together saying they knew who did it, and assured me they were fixing it, were very apologetic etc. One guy called Gerardo even felt the need to tell me I was pretty. I guess that's better than being called ugly but like, don't insult a woman's intelligence by commenting on her looks trying to smooth over a situation ...it's gross. I left feeling like things happen it's fixed- fine. A few more miles down, the shield fell again, scraping the road while I was on the freeway causing sparks and pretty terrifying noises because they lost clips and screws AND put the shield on backwards... I had to have a family member secure everything with zip ties temporarily just to make my car safe to drive. I return the following day and explained to the guy that claimed to be a manager Gerardo?- the giver of compliments, what happened. He says they'll fix it but at this point, of course I do not trust them since they did this twice now and I just ask for a refund and we'll call it good. The tech that worked on it the second time came up to me while I was waiting even admitted he used random parts that didn't belong to my car, but ones laying around the shop and he "guessed those didn't hold". Thanks dude. . . Gerardo comes back out and claims he doesn't have access to give me a refund and will have another manager call me to resolve. He also feels the need to mention he wasn't the one that trained the people that worked on my car- irrelevant at this point. I was very kind and just wanted this to be taken care of- no hard feelings, but now no one is willing to take my calls whether it's calling the shop directly or leaving messages with your customer service. I was taken advantage of and put in danger by your team. I'm at a loss and the only thing I can do is leave a lame review warning other people about a place like this. *BEWARE OF TAKE 5* My husband took his newly purchased used car (1 week old approximately) to Take 5 location #665 located at 2747 E. Indian School Road Phoenix, AZ 85016 for an oil change. Here is what happened that we wanted to make EVERYONE AWARE OF: As soon as I left I felt it was driving weirdly but figured maybe it took a minute for the fluids to work their way through the car (as it was my first time getting the car serviced). On my way to work the following morning at 3:30 am when I got about a quarter mile from my house every service and warning light started to flash as the car continued to drive even weirder. I had to get to work so decided that I would go back to Take 5 location #665 located at 2747 E. Indian School Road Phoenix, AZ 85016 once I finished my shift. Upon my arrival, the manager came out and assured me there was oil in my car but when I asked him why all of my problem indicator lights were displayed and told him my car had not been driving the same since my oil change he said, "there was nothing more he could do because they were not mechanics". I was able to get an appointment at my local Subaru dealership the next morning and found out that Take 5 had drained my transmission fluid instead of my oil. I am not a car head and rely on the "experts" to know what they are doing when I get my car serviced. After returning to the same Take 5 and speaking with the same manager again, he assured me they would address the issue and I would be contacted by corporate with a claim number I have been ghosted. I have tried to go back to see said manager since that day and all I am told is he is not available. I have tried to call and am only able to reach a call center that wherever they transfer me the phone rings twice and then goes to a message machine and I have never received a call back. This mistake has resulted in over $18,000 in damages that Take 5 is not taking responsibility for. It is impossible to get a hold of anyone and now I am out a car that I spent the last of my savings on and cannot afford to fix this at the repair cost is more than what I even paid for the car!! Let alone I don't have the money to get a new car!! This issue has brought many troubles to my day-to-day life, getting to and from work, running necessary errands, and the looming money pit that this has put me in. My wife and I just got married and bought a house within the last year and do not have the funds to deal with this mistake. I urge everyone to be cautious when choosing a car service, as Take 5 has not taken responsibility for this costly error. Please, Please, Please find other places to get your car serviced unless you want to be next in a long line of individuals who have been screwed by Take 5!! Today I went back in because my coolant was extremely low (confirmed by 2 shop employees) the one who gave me the most issues I assume was named Jered (white guy) . They greet you with water and as they are changing your oil consistently update you and offer advice as well as what they can do to help assitant you.
