Came here for a car inspection on a Tuesday morning and lemme tell ya - these folks are fast and…read moreefficient. It's a small place but seems quite equipped to manage a lot of car issues, and the gentleman who did my inspection that day (Charlie) was the sole person doing them, so he was cranking through a list of folks. They put your name on the clipboard when you arrive and just go straight down that list. I'd called beforehand to confirm their hours and theyd advised to come early so I came around 9a or so. I think the wait was about 15-20 mins? Really wasn't bad, I just fiddled with my phone and sat in my car. The actual inspection was also pretty fast, like 10 mins or maybe even a bit less. I appreciated the efficiency. Of note they do charge a 3% credit card fee. A lot of places do that nowadays, but that was really the only "surprise." They also offer a basic inspection ($12, basics to renew car reg) or a more thorough one for $18 where they check your wipers and lights etc.

Every once in a while, Austin reminds you why you fell in love with it in the first place--and…read moresurprisingly, this time it happened during an oil change. Let's be real: getting your oil changed usually ranks somewhere between "waiting at the DMV" and "realizing you forgot your charger at home." But Lube Pit Stop on South Lamar managed to turn it into the best oil change experience I've ever had in this city. And I don't say that lightly. From the moment I pulled in, the vibe was pure old-school Austin--friendly, unpretentious, and refreshingly human. No corporate script. No forced smiles. Just genuinely kind, courteous folks who seem to actually care about the people driving through their bays. Here's what really stood out: No upselling. None. Zero. Zilch. No "while we're at it..." scare tactics. No mystery fluids that suddenly must be replaced. Just honest work, clearly explained. Quick and efficient. I barely had time to scroll Yelp before they were done. In and out without feeling rushed or overlooked--an impressive balance. Kindness across the board. The entire team was polite, professional, and approachable in a way that feels increasingly rare. It wasn't flashy--it was sincere. And here's the kicker: when I drove away, I felt good. No second-guessing. No lingering "did I just get taken?" anxiety. Just the calm confidence that comes from dealing with people who do their job well and don't try to squeeze every extra dollar out of you. They also do state inspections, which is officially the cherry on top. One stop, no nonsense, handled by people you trust? That's a win in Austin traffic math. This is the kind of local business you root for. The kind you tell your friends about. The kind that quietly becomes your place without you even realizing it. Lube Pit Stop is officially who I'll be using from now on--and honestly, I hope they never change a thing. Highly recommend. Old Austin energy. Solid service. Zero BS.

Sometimes it's really difficult to find an honest and trustworthy garage that won't rake you over…read morethe coals and actually know what they're doing. I'm so thankful that 766 exceeds expectations. No hidden fees, no funny business, just professionals who care about the work they do and keeping customers safe in their vehicles. Whether it's emissions testing, an oil change, or major work, I trust the 766 team explicitly.

I'm honestly amazed by the honesty I experienced from Danny today. I came in for an oil change, and…read morehe immediately made it clear that the oil they had--while very high quality--was not the correct spec for my specific car. He took the time to educate me about exactly what my vehicle requires, which turns out is only available through local dealerships or online. Ironically, when I called the dealerships, most of them either blew off my questions, deflected, or didn't even know what I was talking about. One dealership even transferred me to a dead line when I tried to verify what Danny had told me. Turns out, some of them are using lesser-quality oil than what's actually recommended in the owner's manual--and they're the dealerships. This industry can be incredibly shady, but Danny gave me straight truth from the second I walked in. He told me cars are always going to need maintenance--but mechanics shouldn't add to that weight--and I couldn't agree more. Thank you, Danny. I'll be back.
