I was in town visiting my son with my niece and he wanted to get sushi. Sushi Lovers is not too far…read moreaway from the ISU campus. It sits in a small strip area. Upon walking in, we were greeted, and I decor to take time to look at the menu. We decided to get several meal options and sushi rolls. We ordered shrimp and meatball pho, Mongolian beef, chicken and shrimp, fushion combo rolls, shaggy dog roll and taro Oreo smoothie. The pho broth lacked flavor. Also, I had to ask for toppings that were supposed to be included with my pho. When asked where the basil was, I was told they were out, and that they usually get some from the store down from them, but they were closed. I explained that if I'd know that, I would have chosen another option. I also had to ask for sauces such as the oyster and siratcha sauce. The sushi rolls were okay, but nothing to rave over. When I attempted to order the Taro Milk Tea, were told the my were out of boba, so we opted for the taro Oreo smoothie. As far as the Mongolian combo plate, the steak and chic was super processed and felt like it came out of a bag. For almost $100, I would expect to receive better quality food and honesty on what options are actually available. We were definitely disappointed in this experience.

Made an out of the way stop to try this place for coffee and a snack on our way home from Cataract…read moreFalls. It wasn't clear what their hours were: the website said they were open until 4pm, while the hours posted Google and on the door said 2pm, and here on Yelp it says 3pm. They also had a paper sign taped to the door saying they would close that day at 1pm. Fortunately we made it there a half hour before closing, but it would probably be a good idea for them to sort that out across the various platforms. I ordered a latte with praline syrup which was nice (the cups and lids were kind of the best I've seen at a coffee shop, which is random, but worth mentioning) as well as a bagel and a donut. The donut was a chocolate long john and I asked the person taking my order if they were filled or unfilled. They said unfilled, which is what I wanted, but when I got back to my car, it was filled. My husband went in to place his own order, so he purchased another normal chocolate frosted donut and it was fine, but I would have been bummed if I had been on my own and gotten the wrong thing. My bagel was good and my husband enjoyed the coffee and pastry he ordered, plus my reject donut. ;) Looks like it'd be a nice place to stay and enjoy a meal or do some work, as there was a whole separate sitting area upstairs.

Anyway, walked into the cutest shop with wonderful employees ready to serve. Ordered a wonderful tasting espresso to go and a couple of donuts for the road back home. Tried the sprinkle birthday cake donut and a regular yeast donut. There were many options for bread choices and saw a large open space upstairs as well as a good amount of seating downstairs. Appears you can watch the bakery working while sitting as well, which is a nice add to any cafe/coffeeshop. PROS: Space is large and inviting Friendly staff Easy parking across the street or on the street Cake donut was great, needs a few more sprinkles but great Coffee taste was great, had a double espresso so definitely tasted the coffee Breakfast sandwiches were on the menu, did not try, but great option CONS: Yeast donut- depends on what you like. It is a thicker yeast donut not the light and fluffy I can eat 10 at a sitting type of yeast, but the taste was good HIGHLY RECOMMEND STOPPING INTO THIS ONE STOP SHOP!

My boyfriend wanted to leave, but I was curious to see just how bad things could get. Unfortunately, it didn't get much better. After finally placing our order, we waited another 30-40 minutes for our food and then an additional 10-15 minutes just to get our check. In total, we spent over an hour there--most of it just waiting. The menu was disorganized and lacked clear descriptions. The menu should either be alphabetized or categorized more effectively--separating raw, cooked, and specialty rolls more clearly. While the order sheet had some structure, many specialty rolls can also be raw or cook, making it difficult to know exactly what we were getting. When the food finally arrived, it was underwhelming. We ordered three rolls and a chirashi bowl. The chirashi bowl listed "crab meat," but it turned out to be imitation crab--something that should have been disclosed. The other rolls were forgettable, and my fried roll was poorly executed; it lacked enough batter, so instead of a crispy texture, the rice became soggy with oil. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. The excessive wait times, poor menu organization, and mediocre food make it a place I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. If you're looking for quality sushi, I'd recommend finding another spot.
