The fried rice was okay but the general tap sauce was nasty. It was barely edible. Definitely do not recommend.

Ordered the pineapple chicken, fried rice and a soda... $19.80! She said pineapple chicken only comes big size! So I changed it up. Chicken lo mien , fried rice, egg roll and soda. $10.25 much better! Lo mien was perfect! Fried rice was typical yellow rice and was ok, egg roll is my favorite in town! They're perfect! Cabbage filled and has some pink cabbage mixed in. I suggest getting the can soda. No ice in the machine, she gave me literally 6 cubes of ice for a 40oz cup. Pepsi came out hot and melted the ice. It tasted flat. Don't plan to stay and eat. The sitting area is disgusting and has boxes piled everywhere. Also the order area has a big ole I glass wall. They hand you your food under the counter. They also speak broken English. Then look at you like it's an inconvenience that you don't understand them. Lots of eye rolling and head shaking. I haven't had Chinese food in awhile and decided to give this a try since I'm new to Terre Haute. I ordered a thing of steamed Dumplings. An egg roll, Shrimp lo mein. And a thing of general tsos chicken with no broccoli. With 2 diet pepsis. The egg roll was delicious. Juicy with a lot of filling. The steamed dumplings could've been better. The meat inside just wasn't for me. The added dipping sauce really helped it. The tsos chicken also came with fried rice which was nice. The chicken itself I wasn't impressed with. I was hoping it would've had a little spice to it. It was also very syrupy which is when I opened the diet pepsis. The shrimp lo mein was exactly what I was expecting if not a little boring. They played it very safe which isn't a bad thing. All in all I think this is a generic Chinese restaurant that you won't be disappointed with but it also won't blow your socks off. read more

These people are awesome! I've eaten out of here for years. I've never ordered delivery, because it's worth the small drive or pick up after shopping north side. Unbelievable, so nice! I don't do ratings, but; seriously after reading some of these? I had too! It's your normal take out Chinese joint, nothing special! If you want special drive south side to Tokyo! Chinese places sometimes get a bad rap and are the butt of a lot of jokes. Many come and go but this fine establishment hasn't budged. China Wok is a staple on the north side. I've probably visited this place 25-30 times over the years. It's been there for as long as I can remember. And they've been consistent since the first time I went. The seating area is a little small, accommodating about 15 people. The interior is a little lacking and doesn't lend much for decor or atmosphere. However most people seem to get their food to-go. On my most recent visit, I was one of 7 other people waiting to get their Oreintal goodness and take it elsewhere to enjoy. I recommend calling ahead. The wait is normally the time it takes to drive there. I've eaten here multiple times. Not once have I gotten sick or been disappointed with anything. The price is fair and the portions are huge! It's easily enough for 2 meals. I've eaten the whole thing too many times and regretted it. But it's hard to stop when there's a Chinese festival going on in your mouth! Of course this place isn't perfect, but it's a solid place for your buck. I'll be back for as long it's around. read more

This is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in Terre Haute. The lady that runs the cash register and takes phone calls is incredibly nice. She is enthusiastic about her job and helping the people who come to the restaurant. They have really good lunch deals and you can get a lot of food. My boyfriend and I got enough food for a couple of meals for under 15$. The restaurant is clean and the wait time is always very small when eating in. They are one of the only places that deliver in North Terre Haute and their delivery area is pretty large. Unfortunately, their delivery driver isn't very nice and it's usually a 40 minute wait time for the delivery. read more

We recently moved nearby this China Wok location and we have been enjoying stopping in now and then. The woman that works at the counter is the sweetest person and is always great. The portions here are HUGE and very affordable, especially if you order from the Lunch specials. They are always slammed, but the wait isn't outrageous in the store. If you order delivery, $3 fee by the way, our wait is always around 40 minutes. I will say that the delivery driver isn't professional and isn't very polite. But it's really convenient to have someone that delivers in North Terre Haute. We love the Sesame Shrimp and the Sweet n Sour Chicken. read more

I learned that this establishment has had a change in ownership so I gave it a shot in hopes of a better experience than last. I had a large order for my family delivered. Our food was the worst we had ever been served, EVER! Our eggrolls came frozen solid, never thawed or cooked!! I couldnt believe something like this could ever happen, but it did. Ate their for the first time today, the cashew chicken. It will be my last- for $4.55, the portions were good, but the food was tasteless. Wonton soup had solid wontons but the broth was just plain bullion cubes, the chicken was not flavorful, the cashews were brown, way overcooked, the veggies still crunchy but the chicken was far between, the sauce minimal and had no flavor. After moving to Terre Haute for work, we tried several Chinese places. This is the best in town! Nice portions (always some left for lunch or a late night snack), low prices, and real quality. I especially like the house special rice (aka combo fried rice) and the egg rolls. But, the beef egg foo young is the best! Seriously, the whole time I lived in LA I couldn't find a place with legit egg foo young gravy, and they have a flour-based that is the bee's knees. Highly recommend! read more

Good close carry-out for the North Enders... Seems like they have new owners, and the food was at least a 4 out of 5 now. Good prices and good portions, I can usually get 2 meals out of a large Lo-Mein. Needs more parking and better seating but it's first rate for carry out. read more

Eat at your own risk. Of primary importance, the food wasn't good. I'm not sure how you make lo mein poorly, but, nevertheless, they achieved this and I was also sick later in the night. Further, we asked if they delivered beer and were told yes; so, we ordered beer and Lo mein of various kinds. When the delivery man showed up, he gave us the food but no beer. He said they don't have a liquor license. Thus we were blatantly lied to so they could sell food. So, in sum, avoid this place as they have no clue what they are doing. read more

I used to love China Wok but my last 2 take out orders have been horrible. The rice was wet and globby and the sweet and sour chicken over cooked. I'm not sure what the difference is but I'll drive the extra 4 miles to First Wok. read more

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant! I order take out from here several times a month and it is delicious! We've never eaten at the building but their take out is always hot and fresh! The portions are huge and they have good lunch deals! The lady that answers the phones and takes orders is extremely sweet and is always pleasant! This place is my go to!! This is the best Chinese place in Terre Haute, hands down. We drive 30 minutes from a neighboring town just to eat here. The food is literally the best! The crabrangoon is especially incredible. Every other Chinese place Ive been to does not compare. Its so delicious. I really love their chicken lo mein and their general tsos chicken as well! I have never had a bad meal here, so honestly I was a bit shocked to see those other reviews. Well let me tell you something, they are lying. This place is a hidden gem across the street from kroger. Every time I visit it is always packed. Carry out is their specialty but there is a small eating area as well. Trust me, if you are in Terre Haute and want real Chinese food, go to this place. You will not be disappointed. The prices arent bad either, my sister and I ate here for 14 bucks and its worth every penny. read more
