They will gladly help you understand what ingredients are involved in various dishes. Most items are pretty standard names. I usually get the "Royal with Fried Rice" and add an egg roll. It rather mild with chicken, beef, shrimp, and artificial crab. My wife gets some sort of pineapple rice that has peanuts on it. She really likes the tofu depending on her tastebuds. Egg rolls are perfect and skewered chicken is definitely a great choice. General Tso's use to be my go to, but it fills me up too much. It's very good but I've just had to back off. We go here probably on average every 20 days. Food is always very fresh. It's just really, really. We see some of the same people eating in there on a routine basis so you know it has a following. The staff so friendly and took the time to explain some of the things on the menu. I decided to get a bento box which came with miso soup, a small side salad, and then I added a Valentine roll which was the special on the chalkboard... yum. They paid attention to my ginger allergy and made sure that every plate was ginger free and gave me options that were ginger free. The highlight was the Valentine roll with its shrimp, cream cheese and avocado wrapped in pink rice paper, and drizzled with a wonderful sauce. Plus the rolls were in the shape of hearts! I liked the bento box. The tempura vegetables tasted fresh. The shrimp was cooked well. With the rice side and California roll, I was more than satisfied with the meal. I looked at my husband and said I hate to say this, but does this not taste like Campbell's Tomato Soup? Starving, I was in search of somewhere that was opened on a holiday and serving up some yummy food and I found both in Joe's! This building is located right off the main drag in Clay City and you enter from the alley. The outside of the building is adorned in old street signs and inside with old-school memorabilia - gas station signage in a diner-style setting. Cute to boot! Even the bathroom was decorated with old comic strips and pages out of magazines. The sink countertop was lined with bottle caps that I may copy in my next house project ;) I ordered up some rib tips, mac and cheese, and green beans and all entrees come with some Texas toast. I was in between ordering the beef brisket or rib tips and the staff all pointed me towards the rib tips and I'm so glad they did because man oh man, they were fall-off-the-bone delightful and the mac and cheese had a strong pepper flavor, which was unexpected but delicious. The green beans were good, nothing too exciting there - I was trying to be healthy. I should have gone with the sweet potato casserole or fries. Next time for sure! I'll be coming back, for sure!
