    20. House Soup
    Denton C.

Decided to stop by this place and am so glad I did! I got the vegetable lunch special and I got enough food for two haha. It came with a delicious house tomato soup, a vegetable samosa, naan, curry, and rice! The staff was so pleasant and the environment was nice! A great place for a big lunch! Also the food came very quickly!

I ordered this for delivery recently and it was very difficult for me to eat. I can usually handle spicy foods so I thought Madras would be a good level for my dish since it would be less spicy than vindaloo or the even spicier option. Sadly, the food had lots of heat but barely any actual flavor. Even mixing yogurt into my dish made it slightly more bearable but not the most enjoyable.

    Chutneys

Came with my mom on a Saturday evening we were the only ones there up until like 20 mins when someone went to pick up and order they had placed. They greeted us upon arrival and told us to sit anywhere we like to. The restaurant is cute and quaint. However, they don't play any music which I found odd bc it would definitely be nice to listen to something in the background besides the workers. They gave us some chutneys (pickled onions, tamarind sauce, and a green spicy sauce) all good served with some crispy flat bread almost like a tortilla. We ordered chicken samosas and a vegetable soup which was very creamy and hearty. The garlic naan definitely tasted fresh however it didn't taste garlicky enough just like plain pita bread with a bit of oil and garlic on top. The samosas were a bit over fried but tasty. We got chicken tiki masala with rice to share and to drink we got a mago lassi which was delicious and creamy and just delightful and a Indian spiced tea which was good too on a chilly Saturday which had rained all day. We got one to go the tea taste like clove freshly spiced with a hint of ginger. We will definitely be back.

    Chicken saag?

Pretty sure this place is just a scam. Here's a pic of the $14 chicken saag that was actually just chick peas in grease.

    Chicken kathi roll

Ordered 7 chicken , 6 veg kathi roll & 6 samosas. Never seen a Kathi roll like this. It was basically some kind of fried roti. Veg roll was only filled with cauliflower only, even chicken roll didn't taste good . Samosas was smelling very bad. It was just a waste of money .

Everything here is amazing. We had many dishes delivered for a picnic and had so much flavorful food left over!

Absolutely banging saag paneer - quite spicy and much more complex flavor wise than most!

The entire time it was being prepared, he argued with a man in the kitchen. It was an unpleasant experience, though the restaurant itself was clean and inviting. The meal itself was tasty, but a bit too oily for me. Naan was bland.

As an actual Indian, I find myself increasingly frustrated browsing through reviews of Indian…read morerestaurants, most of which seem to be written by people with little firsthand familiarity with the cuisine. So take this from someone who grew up eating the real thing. There are restaurants that play it safe with Indian cuisine, dialing back the spice, softening the edges for a broader audience, and then there are restaurants that simply miss the mark entirely. Unfortunately, this establishment falls into the latter category. I came with high expectations and left deeply underwhelmed, starting with the Chicken Korma. A korma lives and dies by its sauce, that slow built richness of cream, cashew, and warm spice that should coat every piece of chicken with intention. What arrived was something far more anemic: a sauce so lacking in depth that it read as little more than colored cream. Worse, the chicken itself bore all the hallmarks of having been grilled separately and dropped into the sauce as an afterthought. There was none of that tender, sauce permeated quality you get when protein and masala are cooked together properly. It tasted like two dishes that had only just met on the plate. The Malai Kofta compounded the disappointment. The kofta balls, which should be pillowy, yielding dumplings with a delicate spiced interior, arrived with the texture of compressed gravel. The density suggested these had been frozen and reheated rather than prepared fresh, a suspicion difficult to shake with every labored bite. Again, the sauce offered little salvation, essentially a thinner echo of the same flavorless base. There were, to be fair, two bright spots. The naan arrived properly blistered and soft, and the chai was competently spiced, small mercies that demonstrated the kitchen is capable of getting things right when it wants to. It makes the failures elsewhere all the more puzzling. The service was attentive and the dining room reasonably pleasant. Your server won't let you down. The room won't offend you. But ambiance and adequate bread cannot rescue cooking this careless. Indian cuisine is one of the world's great culinary traditions, complex, layered, and deeply satisfying when executed with even modest care. What was served here felt like a faint photocopy of that tradition. For those of us who know what the real thing tastes like, that gap is simply too large to overlook. The naan and chai suggest potential. The mains suggest a kitchen not yet living up to it.

Although we ordered mild for everything (mainly due to having a two year old), there were definitely hints of heat, which honestly was fantastic for me - I can only imagine what spicy would be. It was my mil's first time trying Indian food in this way and she enjoyed it all.

The Jani Burger was amazing, perfectly cooked, with great pakistani flavor, and it was refreshing not to have a smash burger for once. The lamb chops were also cooked to perfection, perfect medium rare, super tender and very flavorful. The Nihari sandwich was also great, however I wish there was a little more unique flavor to it. The masala fries are alright, but I'd say you can skip those. On top of the great food, this service was even better. The staff was so friendly, checking in on us and even offering us a free mango lassi drink. We at this on the sidewalk so it was still fresh when we got it. But for us the food just didn't hit. I recognize it's fusion, but maybe the way things were meant to be balanced didn't mesh. The (impossible burger patty) lahori felt quite bland. Maybe because the burger patty was so thick, but it just kind of was overwhelmed by generic beef patty taste which wasn't what I was expecting. The nihari had some really good flavor, but I found the bread was somehow both quite dry and soggy at the same time. It's hard to describe, but I felt like it was working against the actual nihari flavor. Sadly I do think something like naan or basmati rice would've been better. The fries were pretty unremarkable, too. Just tasted like fries you'd get at your local bodega. I don't expect the wheel to be reinvented when it comes to fusion restaurants, but I just felt nothing actually balanced themselves well (at least for what we ordered). For $50 pre-tip, I'm a bit disappointed. This place has been on my hit list for a while, but I can't see myself wanting to go back. Staff was friendly and the space, albeit small, can fit groups of 2-4 pretty easily. I have a few friends that really like this place, so maybe I'm just the odd one out.
