Great little Gem in the area of Orillia!!! We went on a beautiful afternoon for lunch on our cottage trip and went back at the end of the trip with other friends! Food is a 4/5, simple menu, but very reasonably priced given that we are able to enjoy the magnificent view of the lake and take pictures with aircrafts close up!!! I had the beef brisket sandwich and it was delicious. Customer service could have been better..... our server was excellent, but just didn't know why they had a new police of not putting tables together for larger groups?! Went to Tailwinds today for lunch. They have lovely cottage decorations. That is where the good stuff ended. As you walk in the door there is an overwhelming smell of sewage. We were the only patrons there and the service was slow and the food was subpar. My first and last visit. read more

Delicious food and great - REALLY great - service. I came here for my father-in-law's birthday with the Hubster and his brother. First, the decor is great. There are two whole planes hanging up in there. I imagine they built the restaurant around them, or brought in the pieces and built them inside. Anyway, it's really cool. There's also a view of the air strip where you can see planes that are parked or landing/taking off. My only complaint is that the windows are set kind of high and you can't see much if you're short and sitting. We ordered drinks and food, all of which was really good. I had the liver and onions, which was breaded (never had that before). The food was great and the portions were pretty large. My father-in-law actually took half of his sandwich home. The service, by far, was the best part of the lunch, which is saying a lot. Our server was incredibly helpful, chatty, professional, and basically all-around lovable. He definitely contributed to us having a really great lunch. I would highly recommend this spot for a nice meal. Love this location but FOOD is not consistent. Today, the server offered "special" Fall-off the bone ribs. Well I couldn't cut them. A replacement serving was a little less tough, but still tough& tasted like they were old but re-heated with sauce!! I apprised my waitress, I was given a credit so I was charged $ 19.00 for food I could not eat & $9.00 for aCoors o light draft!!! What an unusual location for a restaurant? We were lucky and were offered a table on the big veranda outside. Our party was seven and was easily accommodated even on a Friday evening (we had booked the day before). Our waitress was attentive offering to take our drinks, a drinks menu was not on the table, but this was quickly provided. Menu is very varied and can cater for a veggie although limited. Our meals were great, we had a shared starter of Calamari, Nachos and Duck Wings which was plenty. For mains everyone had what they wanted, though there was a little delay for some to get their Pizzas. Food tasted good. Overall, great unique location watching the boat planes land and take off!! What a terrible first time. I will definitely not be back. Had to ask a waitress if we had a waitress, then Once we ordered it took an hour just to get our food, might I add it was not busy , our waitress Alannah couldn't even get my order right, and once our food came I had to ask if we could have cutlery. My mother had to ask another table for ketchup because they couldn't find any for my fries that I didn't ask for and for my fathers fries. The food was soggy and distasteful. If I could rate this a zero I would. Also you shouldn't have to pay extra for a small salad that had 4 pieces of lettuce in it or for gravy when they can't find ketchup. Do not go here read more

What I liked: --Staff is *very* friendly and this seemed genuine. --I was here over the Easter long weekend and their outgoing voicemail message clearly stated their hours for Good Friday and Easter Sunday. --Honest suggestions from server. --Clean washroom with stocked necessities. --Live music. --Post live music, the ambient music coming through the speakers was a pretty good selection. *** What I didn't like: --Mac & Cheese, while sufficiently gooey, creamy, and fattening, lacked basic seasoning. Needed generous amounts of S&P. --Salad was overdressed. --Cocktail was missing signature garnish. --Every. Single. Server. was touching their face and hair. I *hate* this. Tailwinds! I came here for the first time today for breakfast with my hubs and his mom. WOW! We had a great time. It's nice to have a place to go that has fresh and home made ingredients!!! My partner is an avid eggs Benedict critic so he asked if the Hollandaise sauce was from a can or made in house, and the answer was in-house!. I ordered the French toast, so again, he inquired about the maple syrup, real or Aunt Jemima? The answer was real! the waitress offered to bring him a sample out on the side of his eggs Benedict, which he accepted lol. We started eating and then out of no where the chef comes out of the kitchen with another plate... he made my hubs a pancake so he can properly try the maple syrup! So cute and thoughtful The service was truly over the top. The food was great and really well priced. If you are staying nearby or at the casino it's definitely worth the short drive!! We will return to try the dinner menu soon, can't wait read more

We went to Tailwinds for our 26th Anniversary on March 28/22 for lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day (a little cold outside) but we got a great seats.,, high top table by the window with the warm sun shinning on us. We have been there a few times before.. sitting both inside and out. .. and never disappointed .. but I think that day was the best .. even though there was no airplanes flying in and out it was still a lovely view of the area with the airplanes waiting just outside the windows for the warmer weather. Our Server was Meaghan .. she was funny and attentive. My husband had the fish and chips... Nice presentation and big pieces of fish. I had the garlic cheese bacon bread. (my usual). HOWEVER, since he doesn't like batter on the fish I ate 80% of it as well as half of his fries (I just wish that he had of ordered gravy ) oh well ... NEXT time lol. I ate so much of his lunch I took most of my garlic bread home for dinner. My only complaint with the restaurant it that they have taken away most of the high top tables along the windows.. being a bit short ( 5 feet) I cannot see out the the windows and see that great view if I end up sitting on the regular chairs. I am sure they have a reason.. But I beg of you.. please save a couple of High Chairs and tables for we short people. Thanks . Another good experience and we will certainly be back. Went for breakfast. Peameal bacon was yummy and the caraway rye toast was awesome; a really nice touch. The server was friendly and professional and service was good and timely. But the over-easy eggs were a little under cooked and deep frying home fries is a terrible idea. Learn to cook home fries properly, skillet seared, and I'll come back, but not 'til then. read more

Great location decent food... selection is fantastic as are the cocktails! Steaks are on the thin side so beware of that. Fried food is crispy not greasy and thats a big plus!! Omg was there with a group of at least 20 people, tried to do a family reservation for 11 told can't be over 8 for a reservation, real 3 extra people, so I said I can't kick out some of my family. I recently booked a party for employees of Casino Rama, my reservation was confirmed for a specific date. WEEKS later I was informed that there was a bigger party that booked after us and Tailwinds would no longer commit to our booking. I had to keep after them just to find out that they were not interested in us, they didn't have the courtesy to cancel our reservation by phone or email. I find it very discouraging when new businesses treat the locals who support them all year round in such a manner. The management staff are ineffective and don't seem to know what is going on in the restaurant. Very disappointed, wouldn't go back. Make sure you never book anything with Charles the so called manager! read more

Our first visit ever was for dinner. We arrived ahead of the dinner time rush. Waitress was pleasant,friendly and patient with us. The food was amazing and in ample proportions. Maybe a ten minute wait at most. But you could see the busier it got the other patrons were waiting a bit longer. Very friendly atmosphere amongst other patrons. Rustic and cozy. From looking at the meals on other people's plates you can see the large portion sizes were consistent all around. We will definitely return and spread the word amongst family and friends. read more
