From my first phone call to this business through to pick up of garment my expectations were exceeded beyond belief. I called Tailoring While You Wait because I had burned the sleeve of my down puffer winter coat. I got a very pleasant woman on the phone. She told me to stop by and she would take a look. (Other local cleaner to my area wouldn't touch the coat and only offered to attach a patch that I would have to purchase on my own). I brought the coat in, got the same woman. She showed me an elbow patch and we looked at each other, no. I could tell she knew what she was doing because she started looking all over the coat for fabric to use on the repair. She told me she could fix it but I wasn't sure how and she told me nobody would notice the repair except me. I was skeptical but had hope as it is my fav coat. Long story short, The coat was repaired good as new. I couldn't believe it. She had created an entire new sleeve section (not a patch) and the repair was UNDETECTABLE! Where the additional material came from I'll never know because the entire coat was intact inside and out. No joke it was a miracle. it was done in record time with what I consider a nominal fee. All these ladies were so great and I was treated kindly and professionally! The burn was sizable and all the way down to the inner lining! Thanks again! I'll be a returning customer! read more

Tailoring While U Wait is the name of this place, but they also have dry cleaning. Based upon the name, I should have realized that it's really more of a tailor than a dry cleaner. I made the mistake of bringing my items there because I didn't have time to make it to a different dry cleaner that does the work on site. Tailoring While U Wait sends it out. To that extent, they just do not have control over their work, and they are on the hook for paying to subcontract. In my instance, they were unable to get stains out of all four men's ties I brought them, although I advised them dropping off the materials that the ties were all stained. On three of them, they got it half better, and on one there was no difference. I have had better luck at other dry cleaner's. If I had gone to a place where they actually do the dry cleaning themselves, I could have expected more. They refused a refund, and they also refused to redo it at no charge. I also thought that the owner could have behaved more professionally, although their employee was as nice as could be. They won't get only 1 star, however, because they are really a tailor/seamstress. That's what they specialize in. I imagine that they do a pretty good job at that, but I just can't say. My friends who go there say that they are pretty good at alterations; it's just that they don't have a nice staging area with mirrors so that you can check out your dress or your suit from all angles. It's just a small cottage basically. My coworker recently brought her daughter's dress to be altered there, and they did not have it ready on time for the baby shower she was going to. She had to go to the baby shower with safety pins on her dress! In summary: I don't recommend them for getting stains out for dry cleaning, but you may want to consider them for quick, just not complex alterations. read more

If anyone is still reading this world's longest review. Lol I highly recommend Bay Cleaners on Fischer Blvd. in Tons River. I had my dress hemmed for $75 aupposed to $135 this place tried to charge me after writing an $80 invoice. Bay Cleaners was very professional and appreciated my business. They did a great job in a quarter of the time their competitor here quoted.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ transactions at small businesses these days​​​​. I have responded to the owner's rude and pompous reply to my review. He has chosen to not post it, so he can control the narative. It just goes to show how unprofessional he can be. There was a body shaming comment made previously that yelp since has deleted after reviewing it. I like supporting small businesses and rarely complain but I just hope that this review helps the next potential client not get treated the way I unprovokenly did.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ dress marked for hemming. It was sweltering hot, the woman working there literally had her butt hanging out of her pants, and very rude. I got a phone call a couple days later with the price change of $55. I don't agree with prior reviews that they were not friendly here. I had a gown that needed to be hemmed and they told me to come right in when I called. Most of the seamstresses I called had at least a 2 month wait to get in. They were able to get the dress done in a couple weeks. The place is also a cleaners so it is busy with people dropping off and picking up their clothing as well. It's busy! They clearly post that not all stains can be removed. They only accept cash. It is a family business and not a chain. read more

I bought a pair a jeans online, they were way to long in the legs and alittle tight in the waist but I loved them so much. So Instead of returning them, I brought them in to "Tailor While You Wait" and asked if they could add a bit of fabric to the back around the waist so they would fit me better and have the legs tailored. The woman had me put the jeans on and did the measurements for my waist and the hem, the only problem (and I take full responsibility) was when I changed into the jeans I never put my shoes back on... it would've been nice if she had suggested or reminded me that I should wear my shoes but it's my own fault. Anyways, they were busy so it took a few days but when I picked up my jeans I absolutely loved them (even with the hem alittle short w shoes on) they fit my waist and have been my favorite jeans! I have also had a dress altered here and it came out beautifully. This is a historical landmark of Toms River and has all the lovely personalizations of a small business. read more

This store desires no stars! They destroyed my daughters prom dress and only offered $25 in return for a $400 dress. Then blamed my daughter that the top had been cut open. The only thing they were supposed to edit was the bottom was an inch too long since my daughter didn't want to wear high heels. They refused to fix the dress. They messed up the lace and it was not even fixable! Now the day before prom my daughter s dress is ruined. Never ever trust this place! read more

If you want to be treated like you're some kind of a valued customer, this is probably not the place to get your pants hemmed or jacket taken in. If, on the other hand, you just want to get shit done quickly and well, then there is no other tailoring destination in the area. They know what they're doing, they don't mess around, and everything fits perfectly when you pick it up. The shop is blazing hot in the summer, and everyone is bitchy, including the clientele, which moves the line along quite quickly. They also have a pretty good on-site parking situation, which isn't always the case in downtown Toms River. read more

Tailoring While U Wait exceeded my expectations!! I took an expensive tee shirt, (With gold plated decorations on the front and other decorations as well), that had been torn in both sleeves where the shoulder seams meet and also the collar. This shirt had been like that for many years as I had put it aside in a plastic bag and didn't know what I was going to do with it. I finally decided that I was going to see if Tailoring While U Wait could maybe stitch the front decoration part of the shirt onto a brand new heavy cotton tee shirt and correct it that way. I then decided to take a chance and see if it could be repaired as it was. Big surprise! They repaired it and you would never know that it was every torn in the first place! They also repaired a hem on a juniors skirt that had been cut with scissors in a couple of places and damaged back some years ago. They did a superior job. I have one other job they are completing for me now but I will tell you, they know what they are doing. I'm SUPER PLEASED with the results of my stitching repairs! I'm new to the area & I was in the macys here in town I purchased some items of clothing that definitely needed altering, I'm petite & in conversation with the sales lady She told me about this little tailor shop in town, Let me begin by saying The young lady at front desk attended to my needs & was patient with me I had quite a few articles of clothing with me & one of the tailors from back came to help She said she could hear me & knew what I was talking about because that's how she alters her own dresses and took over So the front desk lady could attend to the other customers coming in I was amazed at how attentive the to lady's were and made me feel welcomed Where I moved from the tailor shop treated you like a number & usually lost our items by giving it to other people No system at all!! I will recommend this tailor shop to all the people I meet because they get it right and are polite & welcoming 5 stars!!!!!! read more
