This restaurant is ripping us off at this point. My bf and I only go there because it's closer to…read morehome compared to the German Town location and we have to spend our monthly free food credit from Amex. I like the chain and is a fan, but not this location. This is the only location that l doesn't give free condiments, spices, and sauces for Togo orders. Also the popcorn chicken suppose to come with the sauce. Everywhere else including other states are very generous. The chashu meat is significantly thinner and 2 1/2 inches in width - less 3inches it got so small. I also stop ordering Pork belly Bap because it usually gets overcooked. This location is definitely going down hill for the longest time. I had a great experiences last year. I really don't know what happened. They got really stingy and probably trying to cut cost.

This place caught me off guard. I wasn't expecting of all places Mississippi to be a destination…read morefor Ramen. My confirmation bias says the Memphis area is a barren of good food. Well...I guess I was proven wrong. So I dropped my trailer off at Amazon MEM1, input the coordinates onto my Tractor GPS, and my Garmin 800 rejected the request...."Commercial Truck Restrictions All the way." And what did I do? I said f*ckit. I'm taking that risk. Probably the best Risk Reward experience I've had in ages. Every inch of my route towards this Ramen Pilgrimage was plagued by Traffic Signs reading, "No Semi-Trucks $1000.00 fine." And I just want to thank law enforcement between Memphis & South Haven for not busting me for craving a rich bowl of Tonkotsu delight. So what did I discover here? It was like walking into an enchanted Studio Ghibli scene. The hanging charms, the lush greenery, and lighting complimenting the earth tones, the holy sh*t they have PopCorn Chicken & Milk Tea here @@! Felt like I'm back in Taiwan with this fusion of Japanese & Taiwanese Food Culture. There wasn't even a college town nearby and this added more to my culture shock--- of all places... Mississippi. If you guys are still with me at this point, the Kyuramen x TBar in Southhaven wasn't the first location recommended to me by Yelp; I was actually planning on visiting the location in Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia California, BUT like Rayasianboy likes to quote on his live streams, "Goddid." The planets align, they sent me and my rig to South Haven. Alright not gonna ramble anymore, let me get to the verdict: Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Food: 10/10 For a franchise, this place has QA down to the tee. Over the years I've for the majority of the time whenever I'm out of state, would patronize Jinya Ramen--been to their Denver Union Station locations, Chandler Arizona, Salt Lake City, one of the earliest times was in Vegas, and basically their brand set the tone for what a Franchise ramen could be. And yes, I could taste the lengthy hours here at Kyuramen that were put in to slow cook the richness out of the pork bones; the portions were measured just right so you can savor the soup, the noodles **al dente**, the egg silky custard like, the Chasu **melt in your mouth** and not feel overwhelmed with the entire ensemble. The karaage chicken/ Taiwanese pop-corn chicken was exploding with moisture, it had the right characteristics of popcorn chicken, crispy light with tapioca starch layered on the outside, marinated in 5 spices, and fried to perfection with the right tenderness. The tea was excellent, and the Yakitori platter---- executed surprisingly well. And when you put together the entire experience....Shin-Sen-Gumi Alhambra California needs to pick up some slack because this little joint in the middle of nowhere puts some California Izakayas to shame. So yes, I'd recommend anyone across the state of Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama, all the Japanese execs at Toyota Plant, Nissan Plant and Yuki Kawamura to come and make their pilgrimage....oh wait Yuki signed with the Chicago Bulls, nvm, but yes everyone besides Yuki. これで終わります Kore de owarimasu じゃあね Jaa ne 改天再會!

Please start serving ramen again. I recently moved back to…read moreMemphis and was so disappointed to drive out there only to find them closed and no longer offering ramen. Truly the best ramen I've had in Tennessee.

Kei Jei is a ramen bar located in Whole Foods Market in Germantown. I have to say, I was skeptical…read morethat the food here would be good, given that it is in a grocery store, but the ramen was actually very tasty. I had the spicy miso and I would definitely get it again. I would even say that it is cravable. It isn't spicy though, so if you like spice make sure to add extra pepper from the container on the counter (don't pay for them to add extra spice, you can just add it yourself). The noodles were cooked well and the broth had a surprising depth of flavor. My biggest criticism would be that it wasn't super warm. The pork especially could use a little extra warming time. The price is a bit high, I think mine rang it at around $14. You are paying for quality of ingredients though, and the ethical standards of the company. This makes the price seem reasonable to me. There are plenty of options for seating at this WFM. I recommend against sitting at the ramen bar itself and instead, heading upstairs to the large seating area up above. It is usually nice and quiet up there in the evenings. An enjoyable place to have a delicious dinner.
