Not much of a dine-in type of place. They have a drive-thru but, no mic/speaker so you have to order at the window & then wait at least 10 mins as most everything is made to order (which is great!). This can be a problem though if you're pressed for time especially if you get stuck behind another car. The only way this place is "Express" is if you call in your order ahead of time to pick up. As for the food...I usually stick to a few dishes here & so far I have really enjoyed them, especially their sauces. I love onion but, they tend to overdo it (which I never thought I'd say). The soups & egg rolls are a little bland but nothing some hot sauce can't fix. Which by the way their hot oil is actually spicy unlike other places which I love! This is a really good spot for Chinese, they do offer a huge menu but it's not easily visible. They have a huge lighted menu behind the counter, but that only offers their mainly "Americanized" food. If you want to see the complete menu, you need to walk up to the wall next to the register. The Mushroom Chicken is crazy good, and must be experienced by everyone. They also offer GnuChow Fun, and it's second to HopTung. This is as good as it's gonna get in South McAllen... *Be sure to order off of the menu on the wall, and go for the "family" order it's only a few bucks more but so much more food. read more

My boyfriend and I had dinner here and left a bit disappointed. The people were friendly, place was cozy and service was alright. While the food was sufficient it left much to be desired. I got the Shrimp Fried Rice. It literally had nothing but that. No eggs, no carrots, no green peas, nothing. For $23.00 we would've gone to a Chinese buffet and paid a couple bucks more. Love it love it love it. Unfortunately my tongue can't say the same thing. I stopped by just before close time but there were nice enough to let me in. Since they didn't have my usual(mongolian beef or Kung Bao chicken) on the menu I ordered Jalapeño Beef.(or Spicy Beef, not sure which one it was. Boy I was glad I did, it was beef with red peppers, onions and jalapeños. It wasn't just spicy, it had so much flavor and the beef was perfectly cooked and tender. Hot and sour soup was also delicious. If I ever find my way to the Mccallen area again this will my go to spot. Super friendly staff. read more

Very dissappointed not with the food but the price i paid. I ordered general chow shrimp, lo mien, soup and crab puffs from the drive thru,The total was 43 dollars. When I asked why so much the lady told me the shrimp was 19 dollars but it was a big portion. After almost 20 minutes of waiting in the car the food was ready. We got home to find 8 pieces of shrimp. It was hardly worth the price we paid or the time we waited. They overcharged us and we will never be returning there again read more

Horrible. Fried rice is just plain colored rice. Chicken is not crispy at all. Egg rolls not crispy at all. A waste of money!!!!

Really good food. Probably the best Egg Drop soup I've had. My buddy loved his Hot & Sour soup. The Chicken Lo Mein was perfect. My only complaint is that they charged extra for hot sauce. I hate when places charge for condiments. Also, no fountain drinks. I drink a lot of Coke, so free refills is always a plus. read more

This place has better chinese food than most fancy sit down asian restaurants in the valley...no joke.. and with their extremely affordable dishes there's no reason not to give this place a try. This place and their service is a joke! The cashier is lazy and worthless. We paid $8 for their to-go plate only to find 3 small pieces of general tsao (chow). We drive back and tell the cashier who then becomes defensive and says "don't tell me anything," whereupon we ask to speak to a manager. She later comes back and says the manager is "busy." I'm pretty sure she did nothing of the sort but go to the back and post something on Facebook or whatever social media is popular nowadays. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!! read more

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS PLACE What a HORRIBLE place to get ripped off on terrible food. I am shocked that they stay in business. I spent almost $16 on horrible 'mushroom beef' and 'chicken skew' for lunch. I could only eat a bite or 2 of the 'mushroom beef' that tasted like it came out of a can, and the 'chicken skew' was only slightly more palpable after being doused liberally in hot sauce. Their service is by far their greatest strength. They are quick at any busy hour. The price is fair. You'll spend around $8 for something like General Chow Chicken. The food is okay. I'd say it reflects the price accurately. The portions are fair, not generous, but not small. They'll accommadate request that are off the menu such as dumplings. It has a small seating area for lunch crowds and a drive thru for customers on the go. The drive through is a bit hard to turn in to, though. The atmosphere is like your typical in-and-out, grab your food to go type. On a side note, they play this video of a Chinese performance on a small tv beside their register that is pretty cool. read more

I made a visit to this restaurant (after reading reviews on how good it is) and quite frankly i was extremely disappointed.I was dining with my husband so for starters we decided to try the fried dumplings oh boy were they awful! not worth the $7.99 we paid for.the sauce was mediocre at best and the dumpling themselves were bland and tasteless.Our entrees were Sesame Chicken and the Chicken Curry which my husband had the carrot and peas taken out (they charged extra saying they now had to add more "chicken") ridiculous! both came with Fried RIce and an Egg-Roll.My Sesame Chicken was so pitiful im not kidding whoever reads this, 4 pieces yes count them 4! with the rest drenched in sauce that almost filled the serving compartment.And no they were not huge pieces either and im not a big eater shoot even my 5 year old would be ticked off. Taste was alrite but definitely not worth it.The Fried Rice was O.K nothing special at all! My husband Curry Chicken was also pitiful and tastless. It looked and tasted like someone at the back got some Curry Powder and diluted it with water. There was probably about 2oz if that of Chicken (and we paid extra for it!) Egg-rolls were good. O.K so bad experience on our part... When her order came out she walked up and they gave her a rectangular square box (about half the size of the to-go plates they serve you when you dine in) Half full if that and a regular bowl of rice.Her mouth and Mine at the same time dropped..(she was sitting right next to us) All i thought was Wow thats really really REALLY not worth it! So i do NOT know why people keep saying this place is good because the flavors are just there nothing special at all. And the portions they give not worth it.I would rather eat at Dai Tung in Mission or Mcallen ANY GIVEN DAY!
