This was my second visit. The first was really good and I was excited to try it again. This time was not. They sat us inside right at the back door that was completely open to the breezy 50 degree night. We were freezing at our table. They were busy but 10 minutes before a drink order was taken. We ordered 4 items, another wine. The dishes came 1 at a time about 10 minutes apart. Who wants to eat a bowl of potatoes with nothing else?? We had to eat them because the breeze was making the food cold. After getting 4 small plates delivered in an hour with nobody checking in to even be able to order anything else, we decided to leave. We had to get the girl who was clearing tables to ask for our check because our server never came back. The bartender came over and took the payment. Definitely will not be back after this experience. read more

This was such a nice break from fried food, or fatty Americanized food with large portions. Everything had immense flavor and yet I was craving more each time I took a bite! I went with my mother and quickly were seated at a table for two (although I suggest making a reservation because the restaurant was packed after we sat). I ordered a red wine sangria and we also ordered a few appetizers. My sangria was yummy, a little strong for my own personal taste, but then again I'm a light drinker. For apps, we had the quesos de cabras, which was small balls filled with goat cheese with some pears and honey on the outside. Oh god, I cannot stress how amazing these tasted. So tangy and sweet and all sorts of great flavors. They come with 4 small balls, but I could've easily had 1 order to myself. We also grabbed the corn, which I thought would have been warmer, but was still yummy! For bigger dishes we grabbed the short rib in polenta and the steak with chinichurri sauce. The rib was a bit dry on the outside but the inside was hot and had great flavor, and I really enjoyed the polenta as well. Unfortunately, either due to the chaos of the kitchen or the bustling of the dining area, we never received it. We let our waitress know, and she apologized and said it would be out shortly. We had to run, so we took it to go, but it was a tad over cooked for what we ordered. I would definitely try it again in the restaurant though. Overall I really enjoyed it, and would like to come back soon to try other items! Just be carful, as the prices will add up quickly! read more

Let me start by saying I understand the common inconveniences to be expected at a restaurant during covid. For instance, there was a full bar inside but the only drinks you could order were the ones on the menu. No big deal - the drinks were good and we were happy with them. We had a reservation for 3 and we sat immediately, and someone (not our server) brought water immediately. Great. First issue was how long it took for our server to come over, introduce herself, and take our drink order. I don't know how long it was before we were greeted, but I do know it was over 6 minutes because I started keeping track of the time past a certain point. Most restaurants spec is 30-60 second greet time. I got there a few minutes before the other two in my party, and went in the front to tell someone I had a reservation. 3 people working behind the bar didn't greet me at all. So I walked around back and figured out thats where we were probably sitting. The host staff was pleasant. The charcuterie board was I believe $24. It was really good and frankly the best value of anything we ordered. We ordered 3 tapas to start and they came relatively back to back. Then my friend accidentally ordered poutine instead of German cheese fries. He realized his mistake and within a minute relayed this to the waitress. We were told that the order was already placed and there was no way to cancel it. I don't know what kind of POS software they use, but I have used a few and this was never a problem. As a server I've had meals delivered, the customer said "I didn't order this" and you take it off the bill and syck it up and get them a new meal. So we ended up with poutine and German fries. The braised beef in the poutine was awesome. Then we order our next round: empanadas. They never came and there was a 10 minute period when we had no food and the waitress never checked on us. Finally we ordered some tuna. That came out fast enough, but still no empanadas. We decided to skip dessert, and the check came with the empanadas listed. So we had to get that taken off and found it a little ironic that she could cancel someone we ordered 20 minutes ago, instead of a minute ago. It was way too expensive. Been to Barcelona with the same two guys when we ordered a lot more. And our bill was $20-30 cheaper. Doubt I'll go back, top 5 worst hospitality experiences I can recall. read more

Found out about this place by watching the Phantom gourmet. They had a little section on the show showcasing some of their top selling foods. My aunt Papa and I decided to go here for lunch but discovered they do not open until 4 o'clock. We made a reservation for 430. Come to find out we didn't really need to make a reservation but just in case we did. When you walk in the atmosphere feels somewhere in between casual café and upscale dining. The restaurant had dimmed lights with red and orange overtone. As it is a Mexican restaurant they was Mexican influenced art plus a huge bull Miral on the back wall. Overall it's a comfortable place where you can sit down and eat a full meal or enjoy small plates to share. The staff was nice and were fairly quick when it came to taking our order. But we ended up ordering was really good. We ordered a few small plates including the cauliflower brussels sprouts corn and the pork skewers. Unfortunately the two things that we actually went there to try they had run out then I before which were the chicken empanadas and the steak with the Chimichurri. So it was kind of disappointing that the two items you want to try that they showcased on the Phantom gourmet we're not being served . But overall the food that we were able to order very good. The one food that I could not overlook was the desserts that we ordered. We order the chocolate layer cake and the key lime pie. The chocolate layer cake wasn't really cake it was more of like thick fudge whip cream layered with cookies. It was way too sweet for any of us to actually eat. The Keylime pie wasn't bad but it also was a little on the Sweet side. I would never order either of those desserts again. Everything else was good. Some of the pricing for some of the small plates I kind of felt was a little bit high. For the portion. Overall I did like going to this place I don't know if this is a place that I would personally return to without my aunt anbut it was a nice experience. read more

We ordered items from broccolini, albóndigas (meatballs), ceviche, pan de higo ( bread with fig spread and manchego cheese). I have been here twice and both times the food has been absolutely incredible!!! Some of the best dishes I have tasted. The flavors are perfect and the drinks are also delicious! Minus one star because both times I have been here I have had issues with service and errors with the tapas. The first time I was here the wrong dish was brought out, which was fine because after we told them they brought us the right one. However the next time, the order in which everything came out was completely off. We ordered our cheese plates 20 minutes before our main dishes on purpose, and the plates we ordered first were the last items we got, basically when we were done our meal. We also hardly saw our server, though he was friendly. I just feel like there is always a miscommunication between the kitchen and waitstaff. read more

After finishing up a classical music recital at a church down the street, our 8 person posse decided to saunter down to T'ahpas 529 for a bite and some drinks. It was a Friday night and the place was packed, but by some miracle they were able to pull us together a table for our entire party. I want to thank the hostess and the team for their quick thinking and hospitality. Our waitress was attentive and cheerful throughout the evening. The food did not disappoint! The meal started with delicious fresh bread and oil with olives. I ordered a delightfully zingy glass of red sangria with my meal, and one of my friends was equally happy with his glass of white sangria. At my end of the table, we shared orders of the octopus dish with brussels sprouts (pulpo a la parilla), the stuffed mushrooms with brie and pine nuts (hongos rellenos), the classic shrimp in oil (camarones al ajillo), and one of the specials on the menu - a charcuterie board with toast rounds, shaved cured meat, and a delicious cheese sauce. I'm forgetting the name of the dish, but it had the word marcellin in the title... All of it was well-prepared, served promptly, and delicious. I love the openness of the restaurant and the warmth of the decor - wood, brick, and warm yellow light. There's a nice sized bar near the entrance to the restaurant, and the restaurant can accomodate both smaller and larger parties (thank goodness for us!). I can't wait to come back! read more

We turned to T'ahpas 529 for a reservation after our go-to tapas restaurant in a neighboring town would not take our reservation because our party of 10 was too large. I called T'ahpas 529 about a month in advance of our 12/13 plans and they said they had no problem accommodating a party of 10. They asked for a credit card to hold the reservation, which I had no problem with. Upon arrival for our 7pm reservation, half of our party was already there and had grabbed a drink at the bar while they cleared and prepared our table. There was live music playing at the front of the restaurant. We were seated by 7:10. Our waitress was great! We ordered a few pitchers of sangria to start and told her that we'd love her suggestions on what to order. After telling her the types of things we like, she gave us some excellent recommendations and we trusted her on how many of each tapa/pintxo to order so that there was enough for everyone at the table. The tapas were timed perfectly and everything came out hot and delicious. Just as we were finishing one round of plates, the next one was being brought out. Dishes we ordered included manchego & fig on grilled bread, patatas bravas, crispy Brussels, stuffed mushrooms, bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos (on special), tomato bruschetta, spare ribs, calamari, empanadas, short ribs over polenta & I'm sure more that are escaping me. It was the perfect amount of food. Everyone was satisfied and we even were able to pack up a couple of leftovers to take home. We were pretty stuffed, and didn't leave much room for dessert, but you have to order churros at a Spanish restaurant - and they didn't disappoint! We were shocked when the bill came - all the aforementioned food plus multiple pitchers of sangria and a couple rounds of beer was only $60 per person including tip! (FYI tip was automatically added to the bill due to our large party). We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Our waitress was wonderful, the food runners and bussers were efficient and everyone in the restaurant was so friendly. T'ahpas 529 has our business and we can't wait to return! read more

I was excited to try this restaurant and made reservations for inside. First problem was though we arrived a bit earllier than our reservation, they told us they had a private event inside and we would have to eat outside - it was way too humid but because we were already there, we figured, we were there, so we were willing to try it. Another issue was no one bothered to tell us they had a private event and they wouldn't be able to accomodate our reservation for inside, yet they had no problem calling to confirm prior to our reservation. They need to learn about guest services. In addition, the host or manager at the door practically slammed the door on me - very unprofessional and I will never go to that restaurant and she told me we would have to eat outside - around the corner, we walked around the corner and we couldn't even use a restroom as we were told the restroom is inside and there is a private event - can you imagine you cannot use a restroom when you have reservations? The Board of Health needs to hear this. My husband and I looked at each other and ended up going to another tapas restaurant which we have been to many times in Woburn. read more

What a hidden gem. We went for my husbands birthday The menu looked similar to a restaurant we had gone to on a family trip in Spain Well it sure didn't disappoint. We tried a variety of tapas one was better than the next. Make sue to have the gat cheesy peat and honey. Although you can't go wrong with any choice! Although I live less than a mile from T'ahpas 529, I've never got around to trying it until last night, and I've been kicking myself for waiting so long as soon as the first plate arrived on my table. I ordered the Mejillones Fra Diablo and grilled prawns.  My friend had Montadito De Jamon and Risoto Marino. My prawns were perfectly grilled, and the Mejillones Fra Diablo was amazing. It was essentially a stew made with mussels, chorizo, onions, and (I'm assuming) Calabrian chiles. The mussels were tender and delicious, complimented by the chorizo...and the broth...I would happily buy that by the thermos-ful.  Although the chorizo and broth were packed with big, bold flavors, they didn't overpower the mussels. My friend was equally impressed by the jamon served on a toast point with a smear of fig jam and a slice of Manchego cheese. The risotto came with mussels and shrimp, and will definitely be one of the dishes I order on my next visit. Of course, deserts were needed.  The flan and the Marquessa de Chocolate (chocolate cake) were the perfect ending to dinner. The staff was warm, friendly, and attentive...though never to the point of being intrusive. I look forward to many more meals at T'ahpas 529. read more

If you are looking for authentic SPANISH tapas - this is NOT your place! The food here wasn't bad, but it is far from authentic. I guess I would say it is Spanish-inspired tapas. You'll see many of the usual suspects from a Spanish tapas menu - croquettes, tortilla de patatas, patatas bravas, etc., but their recipes are way off. Service was friendly and attentive, the place was packed! Was excited to see a tapas place so close to where I live, but unfortunately, it misses the mark with more authentic options not too far away. read more

Five stars for the food, two stars for the mixed drinks. Every food item we ordered was amazing. Definitely need to try the churrasquito (steak) and costilla (braised short ribs) - they are both fantastic. As for the drinks, don't expect a buzz off these $12 bad boys. Tried 5 different cocktails over two visits - all watered down and weak... not enough flavor of the alcohol for $12 "top shelf cocktails". The two bourbon drinks we tried tasted more like water than spirit. The tamarind margarita, although having a pleasurable unique chili flavor, also felt pretty watered down with the sweet juice mixes. All-in-all, come here for the food - it's fantastic. However, you may want to stick with the wine or beer if you want to drink. read more

I have to say I expected a lot more from this place - especially considering I love their sister establishments (really hoping coffee tea and me comes back eventually). My husband and I went here last night - I was prepared for the noise from the other reviews and that didn't bother me as I am a loud person. The ambiance was good and our service was also good. But lets talk about the FOOD.....I found it to be a major disappointment. Other than the empanadas, which my husband loved, but I found too greasy - we thought everything was just ok. Well plated, but nothing really tasted fresh to me. Our drinks were just ok not horrid, but not great. We got the artichoke - which really was just sauted canned artichoke with dressing. I could do this at home and was unimpressed. The bread with cheese and fig sauce looked great, but was too sweet - I expected fresh fig, but it was more like fig jelly - which I didn't expect from the menu description. Lastly the chorizo was the worst chorizo I've eaten. I swear it tasted like greasy hotdog to me and not nice chorizo. Perhaps I've been to Dali and other tapas restaurants in Boston too many times, but this was just not worth it no matter how much closer to home it is. read more

OMG! This place is great! A group of friends and I came here the other night to try something different and it was the best decision. Two of my friends orders mixed drinks and that was the only thing that needed improvement. We ordered a bunch of tapas to share and they were all great. The waiter even gave us some suggestions and the best things were the dates; filled with almonds, wrapped in bacon served with a blue cheese sauce. The other staple was the cured meats board! It was the size of the table and had the freshest stuff. The place is not that biggest and it can get busy. I was able to make reservations so we got seated right away. My fiance and I came here last night and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Iris, our waitress, excels at her job and you can tell she's just a genuine soul. She was happy, attentive, and made the experience that much better. As for the food... I've been thinking about it since I left the restaurant 24 hours ago haha. We ordered about 6 different tapas and each of them were DELICIOUS! We were also celebrating our 5 year anniversary and they brought us champagne to toast too, so thoughtful and appreciated! Wow what a great night out with friends. We've been looking forward to going for some time and it was well worth the anticipation. Saturday night at 6:45PM. We called ahead (30 minutes before) and put our names on the wait list. Seated immediately. It filled up but was not super busy. There was construction on Franklin Street so that probably kept some people away. We ordered all over the map. No main course - just orders of small plates. Shrimp, olives, charcuterie board, octopus, brussel sprouts, tuna, empanadas, short rib ravioli and almonds. I am sure I am missing something. White sangria, mojitos, juan de bourbon (good but too much ice and not enough bourbon), red sangria were the drinks. All solid. Service was good, though we did have some logistical problems with timing for drinks and food from the second round order. We also had a billing snafu because the server's iPad crashed. I haven't been out for traditional tapas in ages - Dali and more recently Cuchi Cuchi. As much as I love it, I am not an aficionado and don't understand what traditional tapas means. So with that in mind, I have to say all the food was delicious. Seriously good food. Nice sauces, good presentation, well seasoned. Optimistically I would like to think maybe they are working out the kinks. Portion size seems to be a common comment among the reviews. We found the portioning inconsistent. Olive tapenade on the 3 smallish pieces of toast for $5 - seems a little skimpy, but the brussel sprouts were enormous (and crazy good). The short rib ravioli, tuna and octopus was also generous. Maybe portioning is something they are still trying to figure out - it hasn't been open that long. I did notice that our tuna was larger than the one in the Yelp pictures. Disappointing. I love Spain and I love tapas, so I was really looking forward to dining here. Unfortunately, it was more of a Latin American take on Spanish tapas, so it wasn't what I was looking for. For instance, I was disappointed by the gambas al ajillo, which were delivered in a regular bowl rather than cooked & presented in a sizzling pan full of delicious garlicky oil. The patatas bravas also were far too smokey, and lacked the balancing, brighter qualities of tomato and vinegar. I probably could have dealt with the average quality of the food if only it were worth the price. Yes, yes, a lot of people say that tapas are always way pricey for the amount of food you get. I have never said that - but this restaurant is now the exception! T'ahpas 529 really seems to skimp out on the food. For instance, they don't seem to deliver on ingredients described on the menu (e.g. fig jam instead of actual fig, no cherry to be seen with their seared duck), and I was surprised that they didn't give any bread with an order of jamón ibérico. I asked for bread and I received two half slices on top of a basket filled up with a napkin. (The $25 dish of jamón ibérico, by the way, was unceremoniously plunked down on our table with the single word, "Ham.") My husband and I had six dishes and were still hungry afterwards. We had second dinner after we got home. TLDR; overpriced, teensy portions of okay Spanish-ish food. I think the restaurant would be improved if they went full-on with a Latin American take on tapas (the best dish of the night, besides the 'ham' was the duck breast on an arepa), if they upped their portions, and/or decreased their prices. The service could also use a little bit of polish if they're going to be charging these $. read more

We have been to T'ahpas 529 a number of times during Covid, from beautiful summer evenings to downpours under the tent. We love El Jardin their beautifully created space under the epic sized tent. The service we have experienced over our times at this restaurant has always been excellent! The server are always in masks and the food deliverers as well. They are very friendly and accommodating. The drinks are great and the food is even better. Can't go wrong with any of the choices on the menu! It has definitely been our go to during this crazy Covid season. Hopefully they will get to keep this beautiful space open as long as possible! read more
