We made the mistake of hiring Hector at tafoya roofing to re-roof a commercial building in Montebello. We paid him on time, every time, and paid the balance due upon completion. After 18 months, the roof looks asbolutely terrible and leaked in the first rain season following the re-roof. The photos speak for themselves. Cap sheet set with tar that wasn't hot enough, likely using oil and water based roofing products to seal vents and skylights, sloppy drain work. Just a really poor job. Hector and his crew are sloppy, incompetent, inept, and simply don't know what they're doing. We've had 3 other roofers laugh at his work. His work is trash along with his attitude and arrogance for such second-rate roofing work. We don't want him to repair anything under "warranty". How could anyone in their right mind want someone like this anywhere near their building??? I would not recommend this guy. read more

We recently got our roof replaced and we got 4 bids all from reputable companies Taf Roofing had the best price by far and they came on Monday did the tear off and wood replacement work in under 6 hours and Tuesday city inspection and Wednesday put on the new roof in under 6 hours besides the best price they also had best price for wood my home is 2200 square feet + 400 square foot garage so not a small home but their quality of work is exceptional and you should definitely get a quote from them as some of the other highly rated companies were much higher priced and I don't think any of them could match the quality of Taf roofing Hector is the owner and it is a family owned business so it you want quality and value choose Taf roofing !!! read more

As a disabled veteran, I am forced to rely on others, so needless to say, it is extremely disappointing when someone completely flakes on me. I can actually copy & paste other negative feedback as this seems to be this guy's M.O. Non reliable and obviously flakey. Had an appointment for an inspection today between 12-3pm, I even called to verify this morning, and it was confirmed. I waited until 4pm, he never called or showed so I called him. No answer. I texted & left a message, but there was still no response. He must think he is the only one with valuable time. Not even the decency to text. Simply no-show as if we didn't exist. My neighbor referred me over to TAF Roofing, I called them out for an estimate and they were the best out of about four different roofers. So we went ahead and contracted them to do the roof on our home. They advised 9/16 the team was here at 7:00am and all we had was shock and awe, they stripped the roof all three layers in about an hour and a half I was completely impressed. Very clean picked up every single splinter of wood and nail. Next day Tues material was delivered, following day Weds 7:00 a.m. roofers came out and completed the roof by 11:30 a.m. wow! They were fast and clean- when I went outside I could not even tell there had been construction done at my house. I called about 6 different roofing companies for estimates for a re-roof. I got a lot of different numbers back and TAF was the best priced with the best reviews. They also happened to have done the roofs for my sister and parents. The original work date changed due to Covid, which wasn't an issue for us, safety first. The whole job was finished in less than two days, my house is tiny(815 sq ft). First day was the tear down then the second day about 6 guys came and handled it all in under 4 hours. The roof looks amazing and they cleaned up around the outside of the house very well. I did have one issue, when they were ripping off the old roof, they didn't let us know that we should cover the items we had stored in our attic. Everything was covered in broken wood, nails, saw dust and old roofing material. I was pretty shocked and disappointed!!! When I let Hector know he was apologetic and offered to send someone over to clean up. He ended up sending 4 guys and they did a great job, totally exceeding my expectations. I would assume some roofers would blow you off after they got your money, but he made a great effort to help me feel better about the situation. Not a perfect experience, but still worth 5 stars in my opinion. Considering how much money you have to spend on your home, this ended up being a net positive for my family. read more

And, he arranged for the county inspector* to stop by twice: once to inspect the roof after the old roof removal and the second time to inspect the new roof upon completion. * Note it's good to get an independent inspection by the county to be sure your new roof is up to code. For TAF Roofing, it's included in the quote. Note he does have a longer lead time to start work after the initial contract is signed but Hector was up front with his availability. Working as general contractor on my buddies house. He had Tafoya Roofing come out to put on a new roof and replace some wood. They came highly recommended by several of his family members. First off they work very fast. Ripped three layers of old roof off, put new flashing metal on and replaced some wood dove tails, rafter boards, and facia in about half a day. Got it inspected same day. Came back the next day and threw a new roof on in several hours. Here is the problem. Sloppy and careless work. Even the guy supervising admitted they knock out up to 3 roofs a day. Higher the volume the lower the quality. They ended up missing a great deal of dove tails and rafter boards that were rotted. They just shot nails right through them. Several sections of the roof under the underhang I could push up from being secured to rotted boards. Also so many nails were over shot into the dove tails cracking and damaging many of them. I had to clean up several boards and get a competent carpenter to replace the others. Another big issue was the guy they had priming the boards they replaced. He went around with a can of kiltz and a roller. Never once putting a drop cloth down. Spilling paint all over the new concrete in the back. Clean up was pretty shotty as well. I swept down the driveway and recovered a dozen or so nails. (Way to give your customer a flat) The roof was done well, that's about it. Can't say anything else was attempted with any sort of care. It's all about how fast they can bang a roof out, collect a check and move to the next one. No care at all. Do your homework. There are better out there. And if at a minimum get a qualified carpenter to replace your wood. Not these guys. read more

TAF roofing co just finished my roof earlier today and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Let me start by staying how easy this process was. Hector came to my house late January / early Feb to give me a quote. He was very easy to reach, I was able to have him come out for a quote within a few days of my initial inquiry, and had a quote in writing a few days later. The quote given in writing is valid for 30 days. (which in my opinion is plenty of time to decide if you would like to use their services or not.) In late feb / march we signed the contract for TAF to replace our roof. The initial quote was for $14,900 and it ended up being a little less than that to do our 2000sq ft house plus our 2 car garage. Grand total of 2,800sq of roofing including 3 steep A lines on my roof (which I'm told can be dangerous and labor intensive) They started the job on Monday 4/10/17, a handful of guys showed up to remove all the old roofing materials. They were very efficient, arrived to my house on time, and cleaned everything up before they left. On Tuesday wood was replaced on the roof, black paper was put on and the shingles were delivered and placed on the roof. On Wednesday they attached shingles to roof, cleaned up, and finished everything in a few hours. This was such a great experience! I'm happy I chose TAF roofing co! Taf did the garage roof and the home for a competitive price. he arrived with his crew and was prompt. they worked half day friday and half day saturday. they were professional and courteous. prior to the the roof work Taf was always responsive to emails or phone. any details or concerns i had i simply let him know and he took care of it. they did a good job with the cleanup as well. they coated the my previous vents to match my roof color, a small detail that made a big difference.they added flashing to certain areas which i had none before, my previous roof was poorly done by previous owner. i wanted to wait after a good rain before i write this review. it rained in LB today 4/7/2015. i checked my attic a few times to ensure there were no leaks. the attic is leak free and roof work seem solid. the roof work looks nice but no use in looking nice if the roof leaks, there was no leaks. hector and his brother did a good job and i get a vibe that they stand behind their work and not only are in it for the money, but they seem to enjoy delivering a good product. it seems they get satisfaction in knowing they provided a solid roof for another family for at least another 25-30 years. i recommend anyone who needs roofing done at a very competitive price, prompt efficient work and solid workmanship. read more

Since the rain is pouring down, I thought it was a good time to write this review. It's been a couple of weeks since Tafoya Roofing completed our re-roofing and we couldn't be happier! They were helpful, professional, great to work with, and really knew their stuff! Our house was built in the late 50s and I warned them that there would be issues that would not be identified until they had stripped the shingles off. They brought materials with them just in case they needed them -- which they did! Their planning meant the job was not slowed down. They also did some nice extras -- all the vents included screening to ensure they would not be rodent entry points. They also painted all the roof poles and vents which they did not replace. They look new. I know it's a small thing, but it's the kind of detailed work they do. Their team members were all very nice and worked very hard. I was dreading the job since I expected it to be a huge hassle. But it was fast and so effortless. I'm so glad we hired them! I wasn't happy with the wood repairs they did on the facia boards & rafter tails. They were just done too hurriedly & very sloppy. Measurements were off with noticeable gaps between the facias boards. If you're gonna use TAF Roofing, I suggest having someone else do the wood repairs prior to the roof installation. Based on great Yelp and other *ahem* online reviews, I called Taf last Tuesday, exactly a week ago. I left a message with some substance of what I needed and of course my contact info. Wednesday I still hadn't heard, so I used their online contact form. Thursday still nothing (this was very time sensitive), so I called the office (left no message) and the cell number given on the website (left a voicemail). Here I sit, a week later, and nothing back. Later Thursday, feeling a little desperate and concerned, I called two other very-well-reviewed roofers. BOTH called me back within the hour. One could not get to the job until too late, but I booked the second with no problems. Hey Taf, I understand that maybe you are too busy working to get new paying customers or might not have wanted to do my job for whatever reason or might even be on vacation or have a family emergency. Here's a tip - if you (or anyone you might hire as staff) are too occupied to get back to people or just plain don't want to, state as much in your outgoing message so people don't expect a response like we would in the normal course of business. We requested bids for a small re-roof on a portion of our house from several companies, along with a few small roof repairs of missing shingles, etc.. I liked TAF because Hector came out personally, listened to our needs, and actually spent the time to offer several alternative approaches to our roofing repairs. On roofing day, he showed up early with a large crew and finished the job in only one day (compared to his 2 day estimate).
