Honestly I would rather go to El Super Taco, or even Turtles for good tacos. I found the tacos at Tacovore overpriced, and besides the carnita's tacos, rather bland or not at all what I was expecting. I had followed the progress of Tacovore since they have opened with a lot of excitement and expectations for this new little Whit addition, and sadly enough not someplace I'll be going back to, anytime soon. The fish taco was bland and really not much to it, a couple of soggy pieces of fried fish and you get to slather it with whatever couple of sauce options are out on the counter. The calamari taco was not a fried calamari (which is what I associate with when I hear calamari) it was a rubbery floppy thing sadly gazing up at you from the corn tortilla it sat on. I love the food and drink at Tacovore. The tacos are interesting and the margaritas tasty. Unfortunately, long wait times to pick up online orders, errors in the orders, and the staff's lack of willingness to fix basic problems are frustrating (me: "I ordered chips and guacamole, but there's no guacamole." Staff: "yeah, that happens a lot." Me: "could I get the guacamole?" Staff: gone, has walked back inside). Things get busy, but 70-90 minutes to get cold tacos, even early on a busy evening, seems long and has left me hoping Tacovore will up its game as we get through the pandemic. Maybe I just have bad luck, but after the third time it happened, I figured it was time for a break. I want to return and to enjoy the varied menu, and I'll try it again in awhile, once I've gotten over paying for food Tacovore didn't provide, and when I have the time to wait for dinner. read more

I had a great experience here and I was nervous eating here after all of the mixed reviews I have read. I would probably give them 4 in a half to 5 on taco's and drinks, and 3 stars on the price. I was told the prices were high and they were right, but my carnitas, and carne asada taco's were really good flavor and a flavor that I have never had them. The citric fruit on the carnitas really sets it off. My guava vodka drink had a great flavor and it tasted fresh. I liked the chips and salsa as well. No complaints from this girl! I will probably go back but not as a regular because of the prices. I also see people writing that they have good ceviche and I wouldn't mind trying it. Well I finally got to return to try the ceviche, and while it was good it wasn't the best I have ever had. I love the ceviche I had in Mexico. There was no comparison at all as far as flavor. If you are just craving a good taco, like a real comfort food taco, this isn't for me. My in-laws RAVED about this place, so we tried it, my partner also likes it. I was pretty unimpressed. First thing, the waiters were super impatient and rude. We were celebrating my partners new job and it was just a strange atmosphere. and the menu was slightly strange. It's a typical hipster restaurant. Just call a quesadilla a quesadilla and not a "grilled cheese taco." I think I ended up getting a soup, like the chili or something because she was rushing me, I didn't even order a taco or a drink. I decided to walk over to the bar to order my drink which I am glad I did. The bartender was MUCH friendlier. And she made amazing drinks. These two stars are for her. My soup was okay, nothing fantastic. I did take a bite of my partners taco which Wasn't mouth watering, but it was good. A friend that was with us said hers was okay, but she probably wouldn't come back. The price I definitely did not think was worth it. Dude... What is this place? How do hipsters make tacos so great? I've had my share of bad tacos, and I think I know how to find the good ones. Authentic tacos can be hard to find, especially in the northwest. When folks think Chili's or Chipotle are good Mexican food, well, enough said. When I think of good tacos, I think of a taco truck out in the fields of central California, or a hole in the wall taqueria in the part of town that the white folks didn't put any freeway exits. This place defies all that. They shouldn't be this good... I'm not sure I would call these "authentic", but they are certainly the hipster children of the real deal. The ingredients are amazing, the different flavors are super interesting, but not to the point of getting pretentious. I've had most of the tacos on the menu, the Grilled Chicken, Carnitas and Carne Asada are all super solid, the Mole Verde and the Chorizo are both just stupid full of flavor. My wife loves the Shrimp. And the specials of the day are always basically mind blowing. Combine all that with great margaritas, a small but very well thought out for pairing beer selection, and a great atmosphere, this is one of the best foodie spots in Eugene today. read more

Big fan of tacovore! We went here three times during our week-long trip to Eugene. I love that they use high quality ingredients, including wild-caught seafood. Finally got around to trying Tacovore and I was super impressed. We went in towards the end of happy hour and yes there was a line but the staff worked fast and had menus available so you could decide prior to getting to the register. I got a crispy tofu taco and a tempeh chorizo taco with a marionberry margarita. The tacos were so delicious and the ingredients were fresh. I was very happy with everything there. Tacovore has pretty good tacos, they're just $$, tiny and vegan options are weak. Too easy to make better street tacos myself. Tried to pregame here on New Year's Eve, but they closed super early and half assed the food... Not mad just saying, didn't go back for Cinco de mayo. Tacovore definitely changed the vibe in the Whitt, but I'm over it and respond with a swift Nahhh when anyone suggests going here, it's always the same and I'm out like $50 and usually still hungry and have heartburn from the Margs. Employees are top notch and handle the busy times like pros. If they had better happy hour or taco deals I'd support them, but there are too many other bomb taco joints here to go here.. read more

Everything here is super good and a bit addictive. I love the Tequila toddies & the Ginger Paloma cocktails. They have a tequila bar with many Varieties of tequila. All the drinks are made with juices squeezed daily. The food - my Favorite is when the seafood Special is the Fried Oyster Taco, but the regular Carnitas and Carne Asada tacos are really different from "regular" tacos and are very good. They make a braised Indian spiced lamb taco occasionally that is great. Prices are from $4 for a bowl of chili to $5 for The specialty tacos. They do vegan, vegetarian and gluten free using tempeh and other items. Locally sourced natural meats I think and good quality veggies etc. The owner was one of the partners who originally opened Laughing Planet. Similar philosophy for this restaurant. Two tacos are usually enough for me. I've been here a lot and it's never disappointed. They have a coffee shop out front, connected to the restaurant and make fantastic organic Coffee with Choices of dairy and alternatives. They also make an awesome Irish Coffee & the Hot Toddies. Serving pastries from Noisette bakery & gluten free items from "elegant elephant baking company". It is great on cold winter mornings with the sun shining through the glass. I say 2.5 stars.. but Yelp only lets you do full stars. Just placing the order was the worst part of the experience. Monday afternoon the cashier (curly hair, glasses, bunny shirt) taking the order would never make eye contact, kept looking over our heads, was more concerned about what was going on around us instead of taking our order, which he asked us to repeat because he was not listening. He then asked us how we would like our tacos to come out, we said "on a plate", which just lead to more confusion. How do they normally come out? Chips and Salsa: Someone forgot the salt and the heat, they just stopped with the roasting of the tomatoes, very Meh. I did not have the tacos so I will not comment.... Carnitas Torta: Delicious!!!! flavors were lovely, layered and melded together, soft warm bread.. I cannot say enough good things about it. Michelada: snoozeville.... not sure if the person who made it ever had a good one before. I think it was just beer and spices, not even lime juice or hot sauce :( made me sad. I have been coming to tacovore since it opened and have enjoyed the food although it is not worth the price. The margaritas are what kept me coming back however the last two visits have been absolutely horrible! I brought my 6 yr old child and a friend from out of town, in the middle of the afternoon during the week when there were only a handful of people there. I had brought in food for my 6 yr old to eat because she wouldn't eat anything on the menu but my friend really wanted to try it. A few minutes after sitting down we had one of the waiters come up to us and in a super rude snotty tone say rather loudly 'you can't have that in here, it's against health code' my child looked at me and I could tell she was holding back tears for being singled out in front of the whole restaurant. Even though I was extremely irritated for her approach, I apologized and said she wouldn't eat anything off the menu. She continued in a super rude tone to say, 'sorry but it can't be In here'. At which point I asked her what she wanted me to do, tell my child she had to sit there and watch us eat (we had already ordered and had spend almost $50) and not be able to eat her food?! She just continued to say it was 'against health code' which I know to be NOT true. My friend then went over and spoke with the manager who also started to give her an attitude. I was so horrified that they were making such a huge deal over this and continuing to make my child feel like total crap. Who does that?!! Finally, after going back and forth we were 'allowed' for her to eat it but had to make sure and keep it 'hidden'. Deciding to give the restaurant a second chance thinking that maybe that just wasn't a good day for them, I came back with a friend on a Wednesday night. After walking in and getting a table because I wasn't ordering I was asked to get up because I hadn't ordered anything. I explained that my friend was parking and would be in momentarily and that she was ordering. The waiter who was extremely rude said that didn't matter and that I had to move for 'paying customers'. I couldn't believe it. I told her that my friend was paying and she still insisted I move. I calmly asked her ok so if I come in here and wasn't eating then I'm not welcome to sit in the restaurant? Am I supposed to stand because I'm not a 'paying customer'?? She walked off in a huff saying that I needed to move. Then another waiter came over and started saying the same thing. She asked me if I had someone in line that was ordering and I said she was walking in in about 2 minutes. She continued to argue with me saying I had to move. She walked off and my friend walked in and stood in line who was paying by the way because I didn't have any money with me. How humiliating. Then for a 3rd time the first waitress came back and continued to badger me. I told her my friend was in line. She said that didn't matter and I needed to move. I told her the other waiter said I needed to have someone in line who was ordering which I did. This totally became a battle for them where they just decided to be complete assholes. Instead of having grace and ANY sort of customer service they were so consumed with being 'right'.....never again. Tacovore needs to train there servers in CUSTOMER SERVICE! I very rarely give 5 stars... it must mean something to earn 5 stars from me... and this place literally is the crown jewel of Eugene. Stopped over while the van is broken down, and had to try this place. We got the shrimp taco, the carnitas taco, and the chicken torta. The shrimp taco was my favorite thing and my bf liked the carnitas. The pork was super tender and fresh, the homemade crema was amaaazing. The habanero salsa and the pickled onions were just... fantastic. The staff were super friendly and in such a weird weird time in the World, they made dining in and around their building feel so so safe. Really adore this place. If we're ever stuck in this town again, we will definitely gladly stop here :) read more

The vibe is on point, even with social distancing. The main issue I had was with the food, which was not quite as good as the decor. Both the fish and mole verde tacos missed the target for me. The fish was not fresh and thus tasted extra fishy, with a breading that was under salted. The chicken was a tad salty and was missing tomatillos flavor. Everything was missing that fresh quality I love about eating a good taco. The drink I ordered (rose spritz w a long description) was watered down. A perfect taco spot. It's not your traditional street taco, these guys definitely put their own spin on things, but they're so good. My go to is the Carnitas, shrimp, and whatever special taco looks good. If you're not into shrimp, get two carnitas. It's the best taco on the menu by far. Their margaritas are always amazing as well. Their salsas are all bomb. Here's the deal. Tacovore does serve tasty food. I typically get three different types of tacos but it is a little pricier than other spots in Eugene. That's not to say it's not worth it or you shouldn't go. They definitely take a boutique or modern approach to specialty tacos and the flavors are all there. Tacovore? More like overpriced-and-profoundly-flavorless-avore! Perhaps it's because I just moved from California or because I live in Portland, where Mexican food is held to a higher standard, but this restaurant was absolutely awful. I can not stress how incredibly disappointed me and my crew felt after eating here. First and foremost, they ONLY have tacos. Oh, and a few torta options. Absolutely no burritos, quesadillas, or literally anything filling. If you're truly hungry, SKIP THIS PLACE! Second, the quality is entirely unsatisfactory. $5 each for one (that's right, ONE!) shrimp, pork, or seafood taco of absolutely inferior taste and non-existent flavor profile. The sauces were bland, the meats were shoddy, and the taco itself was more depressing than a rainy Oregon winter. I also tried a torta, which was horrible. The bread was wet, as if it had fallen into the sink, and the contents of the sandwich were almost inedible. Finally, the 9$ margarita tasted like it was made up of at least 50% of that despicable sweet-and-sour mix that tacky bars usually fill their cocktails with. I was here over the summer and it was phenomenally executed, but this particular margarita may go down on my list of worsts. All in all, the disappointment we felt from this restaurant was second to none and permeated every fiber of our collective beings. I advise anyone hungry and in search of decent quality food to look elsewhere. Went here for the first time this evening with my boyfriend after seeing this new restaurant on Facebook. The inside is beautiful, modern/hip, open. It's a nice place. Has a nice big window that opens up into a bar table looking outside! We ordered three different variety of tacos, the carne asada, big e (ground beef) and the chicken. All of them lacked in flavor, they just didn't have that "kick" I look for in a taco. The big e was my favorite out of the three though! The guac is chunky but also good. The chips taste homemade! AC helped us tonight. He even got us some warm tortillas from the kitchen! They were heavenly!! We had the carnitas torta and bean and cheese taco, mushroom taco and chicken taco, herbivore and tofu taco. Everything was so good! My son has been trying to get me here for awhile and glad we came, and we'll be back!! They are very busy, but the line goes fast. So don't be discouraged if it's out the door. Husband took me to Tacovore yesterday (August 3, 2020) off a recommendation of a coworkers of his. The indoor/outdoor facility was definitely busy and looked like a locals hang out. People looked happy and had margaritas with their tacos , as well as chips and salsa or guac everywhere. I was quite excited to order! seating is find your own, so with how busy they were, it is possible you won't find a seat. The only seat available for my husband and I at the time was a large picnic table, which we then definitely got strange looks for sitting at. Staff bused tables which was helpful. Food came out surprisingly quickly and tasted delicious. The variety in tacos on their menu make it so ANYONE can truly eat there with their tofu and tempeh options. Staff didn't come check on anyone once seated other than to deliver food. We had no was of getting water other than to stand in the long line again for 10 minutes. We asked a staff member for a fork and more napkins and she NEVER came back. We went to the "Cantina" area inside the building to see if we could get the napkins and fork, and it almost seemed like we were making the bartender go out of her way for something so small. Delicious tacos. Great atmosphere and yummy drinks. We got a mole verde taco, carne asada and a fish taco! Best fish taco I have had in Oregon! Also got a strawberry cucumber love and that is my absolute favorite new summer time drink!! So refreshing and not too sweet or tart. It was a bit of a wait but it was a Saturday on a nice day and we had nothing but time to enjoy it all. We had some fresh made chips and salsa to snack on while we waited and they did not disappoint.
