We were lured into Tacos Tecalitlan by the promise of the best tacos in Western Washington (and to be honest, the fact that no other restaurant in Burlington caught our eyes). We were not disappointed, at least not with the tacos! 6x Tacos ($1.95 Each) - 2x Chicharrones, 1x Asada, 1x Carnitas, 1x Chorizo, 1x Adobado. Starting with the chicharrones - these were fatty, with a delicate crisp and some meat. These were declared the best tacos in Western Washington and I can definitely see why. The carnitas were my favorite - fried to a crisp with some meaty portions and yet still retaining moisture. The adobado was juicy and the fruity marinade taste really came through. The asada was pretty normal, good quality but nothing outstanding. The chorizo fell to the bottom of my rankings - while the marinade and taste was good (also quite fruity and savory), and it retained a slight crisp from the flat top, the meat itself was quite dry. Each taco comes with two corn tortillas, and there's also some sliced radishes, blistered jalapenos, and caramelized onions on the side. Watch out-the heat on the jalapenos varies. One was very mild and the next was hot hot hot. Carnitas Burrito w/ Carnitas ($6.50) - I don't recommend the burritos here. They are super greasy, filled with cabbage for some reason that adds too much bitterness, and worst of all, aren't even wrapped correctly. The tortilla they use is so small that it doesn't wrap all the way around the ingredients, leaving a slit on one side. Why even bother calling this a burrito? Torta w/ Chicharrones ($6.50) - If you want the best vehicle for chicharrones, I would recommend the taco since the meat wilts in between the two bread halves. There is tomato, shredded cabbage, avocado and onion to help round things out. The bread is soft and holds up well. Tamale ($2.50) - Absolutely delicious. The masa is moist and absorbs the pork flavor in the middle. The pork itself is tender and perfectly seasoned. One of the common pitfalls is having the pork center to be dry and stringy but this was perfect. The wait can take a bit, but they try to make it efficient by having a outside walk up window for take out orders and an inside counter. If you order to eat in, they give you a number and bring the food out to your table. There are two salsas on the tables. The red is hotter, while the green is milder. If you order to-go, they automatically give you a couple of containers of each. I definitely recommend eating at Tacos Tecalitlan - just stick with the tacos and you won't be disappointed. read more

Absolutely LOVE this place, especially after a hike! I have been twice already this summer on the way back to Seattle from up north. This place has amazing horchata, tacos with great prices and variety, and other dishes that are pretty great as well! I always expect a wait, since they are usually busy on the weekends. My favorite meat to get is Cabeza, which I can't find anywhere else in Seattle. My dad really liked the Menudo, which is a soup that has tripe in it. It came with tortillas so he was able to make his own tacos from it :) I will definitely be coming here anytime I am up north. read more

I was out riding my motorcycle, going through Burlington, when I saw Tacos Tecalitlan and decided to have lunch there. I'd never been there before and wondered how good the food would be. I parked my motorcycle and walked up to the walk-up ordering window, studied the menu on the wall, and decided to order some tacos. There are several different proteins to choose from and I chose two of the less exotic choices. My choices were beef and Chorizo, two of each. I also chose a bottled Coke for my beverage. I mentioned the Coke because it is the Mexican version made with real sugar. It even had the Mexican label. I ordered my food to eat at the restaurant and was given a number placard to place on my table. I chose a seat under the shaded patio seating area and took some photos of the sitting area and relaxed at my table. The food was delivered within 5 minutes of ordering and looked tasty. I was expecting the large taco shells commonly seen at the local grocery store or at Taco Bell, but these were only about half as big. I was concerned they wouldn't be big enough, but I soon found out that I didn't have anything to be concerned about. I think those four small tacos were the equivalent (in size) to two Taco Bell tacos but were much superior in taste. I'm not sure if it's possible to see in the photo, but they were served with a quarter of a lime and one chili pepper of some sort (my apologies for not getting the exact name), and a homemade green sauce in a squeeze bottle. I rated only 4 stars because there was an overabundance of cilantro on them. Other than that, they were great! I thoroughly enjoyed my stop for lunch here at Tacos Tecalitlan and look forward to a return visit in the future. read more

This place is fire!!!! Food is flavorful and delicious. Passed by here and said we should we try it. On our way back from Sedro Woolley we made the call to stop. All we g out was two beers, two sopes, and chips with pico. All of it was phenomenal. I am so happy we stopped. The meat on our sope was adobaba, which was plentiful and seasoned well. Only regret was not trying their tacos. The pick was salted perfectly. We got there around 430 and sat outside. Service was quick! On our way out the line outside was long!!! If I could give no stars I would. I placed an order online. Waiting 10 minutes past pick up time told them my name she came back asked for a last name then proceeded to tell me it wasn't ready whatever no biggie. Well then I come and she tried to hand me someone else's order asks my name again. So I get my phone and show her the online order her response was I just came on shift so I don't know what happened like???? Okay but you see I used your online service placed the order and they took my money but you just don't see it. At this point I've ask for a refund and she walks away and goes to talk back-and-forth with the kitchen even though I've already said I want a refund and at this point I have to explain my life story to her that I don't have time to wait. I placed the order online so I could come pick it up and leave because my child is at home with her father on his lunch break and so the food was meant to be ready so that I could get it go back and we could eat on his lunch break so now that it is 133 and his lunch break is over and I'm still here with no food. I don't want the food. I want my money back and so after coming back from talking to the kitchen, she tells me yeah the order is just not there and I tell her again that I don't have time to wait and then she's like I can offer you a refund. I don't understand how hard it is to just accept what someone says the first time I'm pregnant. I have a kid at home. I don't have time to wait. There's a reason I used your online services. This isn't the first time it's happened and every other time that I've ordered from there, my food is either made incorrectly or I get someone else's order like I've tried so hard to support this business but I am done. The service was quick, on a busy, sunny Friday at lunch time. However, not the friendliest. We had a variety of tacos and a tostada. The tostada was so fresh and the tortilla perfectly crisp and rich. The marinated pork, chorizo, and carnitas all tasted delicious. The carne Asada was good, but could have been better. I ordered a veggie burrito and it was stuffed with cabbage, rice, beans, avocado, and jalepeños, all for just $7. It was really delicious and I would definitely order again. I loved the green salsa that they had in squeeze bottles on each table. Very flavorful. My brother ordered the carnitas tacos and said they were excellent. They have a walk up window if you're grabbing food to go, or you can order inside and have a seat at a table indoors or on the sizable patio. Delicious tacos. I stopped here on my way back from camping in the North Cascades. I couldn't find this taco truck at first since it's tucked away behind a construction site. Was definitely worth seeking out, though. I had tacos de adobada, carne asada and cabeza, all were tasty but the adobada was my favorite. This taco truck is located in a peaceful, almost park like oasis amidst an otherwise unappealing construction and rv retail zone. Just visited for the first time. I ordered a vegetarian burrito for takeout. The positives: it was cheap. $9 after tip. Although there wasn't much avocado, the avocado was green and not brown. The negatives: there weren't any beans that I could find, just rice, lettuce, onions, and avocado. I love it when places replace the meat in a veggie burrito with grilled vegetables, since you're paying the same price as a meat burrito. That doesn't happen here. The filling is basically just rice.
