I love their tacos. I try to get the tuesday tacos because they give 75cents off for each taco you order. The other day, i ordered 3 pollo tacos and 3 asada tacos. They only gave me 5 tacos. So i called and they said to come get it. I said i would come the following day. So, the next day, i took my time to get there. They gave me one more taco, but no apologies or no sorry's. Just one taco in the bag. I feel bad for claiming what i paid for. And then i found a sign saying 5% off when you pay cash. They didn't offer me the discount when i paid. I'm surprised I never reviewed this place. For years, it was one of the few spots to go to for late night Mexican food. Recently, we went there during regular dinner hours, and had a sober dining experience, so I guess it's time for me to write an actual review. Pros: Free beans. I know, it sounds so frivolous, but it becomes a great appetizer while you wait for you food. They give you little styrofoam cups for them. The food itself is pretty good. I got cabeza, lengua, and pastor tacos. I really enjoyed the cabeza and lengua. The salsa bar is pretty good. We ordered asada fries and it was really large and heavy! We ended up taking half of it home. As soon as I took a bite I knew I would love this as some late night drunchies. Of the items we tried, the burrito was my least favorite. Cons: The price. I didn't realize how expensive everything has gotten! Granted we ordered a lot of food, but we got sticker shock when she told us how much it all was. They ask if you want sour cream, jalapenos, guac toppings on your burritos and fries, but don't tell you right away that they're all extras. Granted, especially with the fries, the toppings really make the dish... but paying for each topping was a hard pill to swallow. read more

Love the street tacos and the salsa is spicy! Service is always pleasant and fast. They cleaned up the place, no homeless person at the front door and the new paint brightened up the place. I decided to try this place because my friend told me he had been going there a lot when it was a food truck. And honestly, I blame my friend for taking me so late--this place was amazing! I had the Al Pastor burrito, and it was truly, really delicious! I'm very picky with food and can't eat cilantro. Most Mexican restaurants serve onions and cilantro together, so I always had to order takeout - without onions and cut onions at home. But here, they added onions without cilantro, so I was able to enjoy a delicious burrito. For someone like me, this is truly, really a huge advantage!! Even if onions had not been there, the food would've been amazing anyway, and I'd definitely visit again. The combination of beans, rice, tortilla, and meat was spot on. I also really appreciated the separate sauce bar, where I could take as much lime and sauce as I wanted. With nice service and a clean interior, this is a great spot to eat and drink. Craving a torta and in the neighborhood. I come to Harbor City once a week and decided I need to try out some of the many local Mexican Restaurants. I decided to try this one first. Very organized to quickly order and pick up. Lots of space to dine in (no outdoor dining or patio). Workers are friendly and the restaurant appears clean. The Asada Torta was very good. Not amazing but everything was fresh. Nice toasted roll and fresh lettice and tomatoes. The Asada wasn't very flavorful but the salsa bar made up for that. It's fast food but quality. Would I return? Came here late night because I was craving a torta. I ordered a torda de carnitas with everything on it. My fault for not asking what everything was. So it came with avocado, lettuce,onions,tomatoes, and a slice of American cheese. The cheese threw me off but it wasn't the end of the world. Carnitas were nothing special not every flavorful but also not bland. The bread was a little to thick for the amount of meat and veggies they put on the torta. I also got a sope de pastor. Haven't been back here in a while so decided to stop by again to get the nachos that we fell in love with years ago. What is going on? It was straight horrible! The chips were stale. The asada was of nasty quality with a bunch of inedible bits. The cheese... well, you can't mess up the cheese but overall the product has gone downhill in a major way. The salsas were still decent, but after this experience, I'm hesitant to waste my calories here anymore. Such a shame cause this used to be our go-to late night taco joint. So so so many better places with all the stands in the area now. So sad cause we've seen this place go from just a simple truck to a whole establishment and now, to junk. I get their food all the time and love their tacos. I knew they had some sort of catering service, which I wanted for an event I'm hosting, so I tried contacting the service a while back. I sent an email and left voicemails. I did not hear back from them so I decided to call this store, because that is where I was told about the services. I was put on hold for about 6 minutes which was okay because it was busy. However I tried to explain to them why I called and was immediately interrupted and told to call the other number. Once I explained in Spanish what I needed, they put me on hold again. I was able to hear them talk so I knew that they were asking questions to help me, but then the call dropped. I called back again assuming the connection was bad, but then I heard them pick up the phone and hang up again. It is really unfortunate because I really like this place. I have never stopped there until one Saturday morning after a long run in the hills. I was hungry and just craving some tacos. I didn't want tacos from a chain restaurant, well of which I never go to anyway. So this place came to my mind and I pulled in. I walked in, looked around and the place was very clean. I went to the cashier Natalie and told her this is my first time here and I want tacos lol well yes 5 tacos. She asked if I'd like fresh tortillas, I told her whatever she suggested. Of course fresh is always best. She also explained that the taco cone with nothing on them and can get my fixings at the fixing bar. I sl see I told her I'd like a price of cake. So suggested was the tres leches cake and it looked so good. Ok so I got my order in and she handed me my receipt and told me if I need any help or have questions, just feel free to ask. This used to be my go-to place for street tacos when it was just "El Gallito" and a taco truck. I don't know what happened, but the service and food have gone downhill since. When I walk into an establishment, and the cooks are joking around obnoxiously, it is unappealing to me. I wonder if the place has changed ownership. We first taste with our eyes, but there is not much to see anymore because each and every glass window barrier above the counters has been lined with window coverings to visually block sight of food. No more carne asada, carnitas, al pastor, etc., eye-candy. What are they trying to hide? The place is dirty to begin with and homeless people often loiter around. We cannot easily see the food we will eat as it is prepared. Even the front store window has been mostly blocked as well. Part of the novelty of a street taco place is seeing the food as it is prepared. It makes it more special. Sorry, but now that local street taco competition has opened up with fresh tacos, freshly made tortillas before your eyes, and long lines just a mile or two away, $1/taco on Tuesdays, I see why this once amazing taco place is no longer busy, even on Taco Tuesday. My advice, clean up your place, take down the stupid stickers and decals, act professionally when preparing food. People want to see the tacos (and more) prepared at a place like this. Otherwise, it seems like you're hiding rotten, spoiled or roach infested food behind the glass coverings. read more

And all needed sauces to help with the dried out meat and lack of flavor. Not sure if I just had an isolated experience but all my meat choices wasn't up to a standard I would expect from a place with such a big sign.
