This is my go to taco spot. We ordered tacos and burritos here. It's hard to find good solid food here in the AV. Service was good and friendly. I would give this place a higher mark but they missed the mark when it came to the salsas. A good Mexican joint has to have great salsas. The location is a little on the sketchy side . I ordered wet burrito for dinner. There is hardly no meat on my burrito. 90% is rice! It is big, yes, but yet uneven portioning. It is not for free, i paid $10.99 so why they wouldn't give me a decent burrito???!!! I used to love this place many years ago, didn't come back no more because their quality is declining. Really good meat options for Tacos. They are tight with their sauces. If I'm placing an order over $45.00-$50.00 best believe I need sauces +garnishes. I was charged for 2 tamales that weren't tamales due to them being soaked in tamale pot water. I guess they didn't care for me as a guest. You charged me for nasty tamales that are over priced. It's ok thank you for doing that to me so I won't eat here again. The customer services was okay until the cashier/order taker looked at me funny for asking for a bag to put sauces in. Unfortunately the customer service they have provided the last 3 visits has decreased immensely. The ladies at the front counters are rude and moody within the last visits. Our company ordered our holiday lunch from them and the person who took the order over the phone was "Silvia" she seemed bothered we were calling to place an order. Once we arrived to pick up our order we requested for additional salsa since we have ordered 40 tacos plus beans and rice. The cashier refused to provide extra salsa to us and stated that because we ordered beans and rice she can only provide 4 salsa. She said there would be an extra charge so we decline. We have been going to this place for years and the service has never been as bad as it has within the past few months. It's just disappointing that one of our favorite places has people working for them that does not represent them well. read more

I was looking for menudo and wanted to come back and see if anything had changed, first thing I noticed was that it was to early for how cool the dining area was I went back for my jacket. New floors, maybe new tables, new monitors for menus, nice polite service. Food I noticed everyone was waiting longer than other taco places I've been to around here. Price was a little higher than expected, it was close to $50 for two menudos and two tacos with 2 drinks. I went for tacos today with my husband Rick. I really just wanted tacos Al Pastor. The server suggest the taco plate - 9 great tacos . Grilled onions were served on the side and were super tasty.We loved the chips ,they had a smear of pinto beans on them. I tried all the hot sauces, even the diablo sauce , they all different and yummy. The best part..only 12.08 for two people. The only drawback was menu is kinda faded and hard to read. I had a craving for some Tripas and carne asada tacos and was ready to order. Mind you I love coming up until .... the day I came in and everyone was extremely rude. I was in line for almost twenty minutes when this woman and her son bumped me like I was there and didn't bother to say excuse me again rude. So it was my turn when this older lady and her husband came in the cashier completely overlooked me and catered to them by then I was livid. Now I don't have a problem with helping older people out but common courtesy should still exist. Best street tacos in the AV!! Great, friendly customer service! Clean, organized, cozy, beautiful tile tables and excellent salsa selection!!! Sandra was so friendly and such a sweetheart. As I was getting salsas the owner came out and we chatted for a bit, he was so nice and personable and it was nice to just be treated nice! It was also cool to hear his parents had owned the restaurant for over 20 years and he decided to buy it and keep it going in the family! Last but not least, the food was soo tasty! I will be back definitely to try more things and this is for sure my new spot to come for tacos, friendly service and cozy atmosphere. All around a great experience! read more

I got a taco salad with carne asad AND onions, burrito had onions and Chile... food was tasteless. Salsa at the salsa bar was salty. Definitely not returning or recommending. SUMMARY: I'm between 2 & 3 stars for this place. They have an expansive menu with nice pictures and ok prices, the food is really top notch, and the salsa bar is amazing. However, the location isn't great and they do a lot of little things that irritate me. The service is also pretty bad sometimes. It's disappointing that they could be SO MUCH better with a little effort. THE GOOD: They have a great menu with lots of pictures and variety! It's easy to tell what you're going to get and the only hard part is actually making a decision. Admittedly, I love salsa, and their salsa bar does not disappoint at all. They have a great variety of very delicious salsas and it would practically be a reason to come here, even if everything else was terrible. My favorite is the burnt green salsa (such FLAVOR!) and my husband loves the roasted chili flakes in oil - very spicy!! The quality, flavor, and authenticity of the food is absolutely top notch. Seriously, SO GOOD!! If they had a nice location and made appealing presentations of their food, they could absolutely have a really nice mexican restaurant and charge a lot more for each dish - and it would be worth it. While this is a good thing, it ends up making me feel slightly disappointed that they are a low-level taco joint instead of the very awesome restaurant they could be. THE BAD: They are located in a pretty questionable part of town. While not a deal breaker, keep your wits about you here. Like so many of their other negatives, this place could be really great if....(fill in the blank). Although they have a nice menu with many options, their once beautiful (I'm sure) back-lit menu is really faded, looks old, and is hard to read in some places. Time for an update. Secondly, they seem to often not actually have what is on the menu and the cashier is not nice about it. The 1st time I went here, I ordered birria and was told in a terse way that they don't have birria. The tone and inflection and demeanor of the cashier all suggested that they never have birria and that I was stupid for even asking (even though it's on their menu). Very unfriendly. The atmosphere is ok for a taco joint. The bright paintings and tiled table tops are neat, but the two TV's which are sometimes too loud bother me. The benches are cheap & uncomfortable, and the juke box randomly fires up with a catchy song that is loud enough to drown out all of your innermost thoughts. The service. Aside from the terse or borderline rude way the cashiers speak to customers, there are quite a few smaller things that just irritate me. 1. The sign stating that if you use too much salsa they'll charge you a $.50 fee. What!? No, seriously, what in the world!? So, how much is too much? And who will be watching my salsa intake to determine if I need to be fined for over-consumption of salsa? Joking aside, this is just ridiculous and not customer service-oriented. I can understand that people probably tend to take more salsa than they actually eat and that costs the restaurant money. But, seriously, how about a polite sign asking people to moderate the amount they take in a friendly way? Or building that extra cost into your prices and allowing people to bask in the glory of your amazing salsa bar? 2. No napkins! Ladies and gentlemen, tacos are messy! People who eat tacos need napkins! Yet, there are no napkins on the tables and no napkins in sight anywhere. While I was getting my salsa, my daughter bumped my arm and spilled it all over my hand and onto the floor. I quickly looked around to grab a napkin and there were none anywhere and nobody was in sight to ask for a napkin. In retrospect, this probably allowed me to avoid the $.50 fee for taking more salsa than I was allowed to. If you do find someone, you can put in a request for a napkin and they will give you one. Or maybe two if you're lucky. 3. They also ration the utensils. You are only entitled to utensils if you order a dish that they think requires utensils. Sorry, allow me to correct that. You are entitled to a single utensil (a fork) if deemed worthy. And it doesn't come with a napkin. 4. In the salsa bar, they have delicious pickled beets & onions and other yummy stuff. They give you a single, tiny, styrofoam plate for all this goodness and it's inadequate and the yummy stuff all gets mixed together. Sad times. I was afraid to ask for another plate or extra salsa containers. 5. The actual service. I'm out of space, but it's just bad. For example, the woman brought out our order & I tried to hand her the empty chip plate (with large, crinkly wax paper) that was in the way. I held it up and she ignored it while placing the food plates down where it had been. I held it up a bit higher as she placed the last few items and she pretended not to see it, then walked away, leaving me with my hand in the air holding the empty plate like a silly fool. No more, we have been loyal customers to this place for years and they wouldn't let my daughter use the bathroom. I received the worst service I've had at a restaurant in a long time and my order was to go! I ordered 10 tacos. When I asked for extra cups for salsa the cashier gave me a look with an attitude. Ok she's had a long day whatever, I understand. But when I asked her for two more of the cheap little sandwich baggies that you put your salsas in. She tells me I can only have one more...... With an incredulous look I ask her, "Are you kidding me?" She proceeds to explain that they are not used for that and I can just put my salsas in the bag with the food. I couldn't believe it. Only reason I'm giving it a 1 Star is because I can't do NO stars. Usually they're really good here but today their server, SANDRITA, completely dropped the ball. She's rude, she throws the hot plates at your hands, we asked her for our drinks more then 3x and she didn't bring them until we finished our food ( can soda and michellada). Honestly, the only times we've had issues here is when this server is working. My family and I just visited Tacos Si Senor for dinner. I was told that this restaurant makes the best mole sauce, so I ordered the cheese and chicken mole enchilada entrée, with rice and beans. The sauce had a nice deep rich red color and flavor. Delicious! The Carne Asada, I'm told was very tasty, thinly grilled seasoned steak, in generous portions, with rice and beans, served with warmed flour tortillas. And the Chile Verde was quite good, made with cooked diced pork, simmered in tomatillo sauce with spices. My family found the service to be prompt and professional. So, for a casual lunch or dinner with friends and family, Tacos Si Senor Restaurant is a great choice! read more
