Tacos Hola is known for their guisado tacos (stewed meat cook in stone caldrons). I tried the picadillo beef hash and chorizo con papa tacos on my last visit and both were delicious. I loved how soft the tender the ground beef picadillo one was and the chorizo con papa had great flavor! The potato in both really make the meat mixture so tender and I love the crumbled cream on top. They were also featured on Netflix's Taco Chronicles and got a Michelin recommendation which is what brings in the large crowds at lunchtime so it's best to come during off hours to sit at one of their small tables. read more

28 pesos/taco as of today, Sept 2024. They are big too; I think two is sufficient for a light meal, three if you're hungry. I tried the chicken tinga, the bistec, and the chorizo. Of the three, the only one I thought was great was the chorizo; the other two were a bit lacking in flavor. They accompany them with guac and cheese and they do have salsa at the stand but I didn't try it. They surprisingly take card (in addition to cash, obviously). With that being said it's definitely a "street food" type of place. No bathrooms as far as I'm aware and exclusively stand dining. For the price they weren't bad - and I would go back for the chorizo - but I was unimpressed overall. There are plenty of vegetarian (maybe vegan) options so it would be a good place for a group with more diverse dietary restrictions. read more

A humble little stand on a tree lined street. Packed, with a little more tourists than locals from their Netflix taco chronicle fame. That being said the locals are still here. My favorite taco here was the liver with onions. Rice and guacamole are standard toppings here which hasn't been my experience with most taquerias I've visited in CDMX. The tacos here are too big to eat like a normal taco so a fork is almost necessary. The Chicharron and chile verde were both good but ultimately upstaged by the aforementioned liver and onion taco(and I'm not a liver fan). Service is fast and friendly. read more

Came close to closing so unfortunately they had run out of a lot their meat options, but we still got to try the chicharrón, chorizo, and stewed beef. The guy serving was really nice and offered us what he could. There's a little counter connected and couple tables outside, but we luckily got a spot at the counter. A good quick place to try some tacos and keep going for a little condesa taco tour. There were some street performers that would come that would want a tip, but worth a stop if you're nearby. read more

We tried both the tinga de pollo (chicken tinga) and bisteck en pasilla (steak in chili). I felt disappointed with the bisteck tacos as they weren't as flavorful as I expected. They could have been better if cilantro and onions were offered. The tinga de pollo tacos were flavorful and moist. All tacos had a generous portion of meat and two tortillas each, making them filling. Seating is limited here, with only three available tables and one counter for standing. It seems like more of a spot for people grabbing food on their lunch breaks than for tourists to enjoy a meal. Visiting Mexico City for the second time and second time to Tacos Hola. Enjoyed the tacos here the first time and this time around it was a complete disappointment. The server handing the food after you picked what tacos you wanted was not friendly what so ever. It was just pick what you wanted and move it along. While ordering my tacos with guacamole on the side instead of in my tacos the server appeared to be offended. I ordered the chicharron (pork rinds), egg and rice, bistec (beef steak) and chard, quelitas (spinach/veggies). All the tacos I tried was bland and lacked any flavors. I had to add salt and put what appears to be green salsa so that it can give it some remnants of flavor so that I can swallow. The only thing i enjoyed and found to have any flavor was their pickled onions. Will not be returning and will definitely not be recommending this place to anyone. Save your money for vendors selling tacos in the street. Was completely disappointed!!! read more

To be honest, I just found out these tacos starred in an episode of Netflix's taco-documentary series: "Las Crónicas del Taco", but leaving that aside, they have earned their place in the heart of it's community thanks to their great quality, amazing flavor, and fair price. These are called tacos de cazuela or tacos de guisado (stew tacos), and go on top of a tortilla with some optional beans, rice and cheese. Tacos Hola specializes in tacos de guisado, which is essentially slow braised meat. At Tacos Hola, they have a bunch of stone pots filled with these stewed meats. They have several menus hanging up on the wall, and you just order one at a time. They make it on the spot, hand it to you, and you can find a seat at the standing room bar, or go to the tables by the sidewalk. When you're ready for round two, you just go back up and order a second one. With most of them, they'll ask if you want cheese, and rice & beans. Just say yes. You can also add your own red or green hot sauce afterward. The best ones were probably the chorizo and potato and the steak. I had the chicharron en salsa, which was kind of bland. I also tried the haggis, to which the guy making the tacos was dumbfounded. He gave me a sample to make sure I would eat it, and I did. It was kind of liver-y, and not quite what you'd consider haggis elsewhere. Probably wouldn't do that one again. Not a bad taco experience, but we definitely had better street tacos. read more

For what it is I give it 5 stars, I wouldn't go there again due to my special liking for exotic meats but they have very health conscious proteins for people to choose from. Like cauliflower and tuna tacos. They make everything fresh everyday so it's best to get there early for the first pickings. I wanted to try the ahi-tuna tacos but they were sold out. I would recommend to try the Chile relleno tacos those were amazingly delicious not spicy but if you put some of the salsa they can be. Prices are very reasonable for what they are selling and I believe they have over 15 protein selections to choose from. They ask you if you want 2 tortillas and if you want rice and guacamole on everything no extra charge! Not like CHIPOTLE! Overall this is a great spot to go if you live in the condesa for the time being. *If you map quest it walking directions it's going to give you the wrong location so go to that location it's giving you then do a 180 and follow it til you see it on your right hand side you can't miss it. I've gotta say, we tried a lot of tacos while in Mexico and these were some of the top ones! I wasn't even planning to try this place but kept seeing it on lists and since we were nearby we decided to give it a whirl. We ended up visiting twice! The chorizo taco is great with beans and cheese (whatever cheese they use is amazing). For vegetarians, they have several options but I tried the calabaza (pumpkin) and it was so good. Everything is fresh, they swap out workers mid day and bring in fresh "guisados" halfway through the day once everything runs out. The guy working in the evenings is also super friendly! read more

OMG. The tacos are ridiculously fresh and delicious. You can choose from a wide variety of meat and vegetarian options. All fillings are on display on the counter in ceramic bowls. Choose one corn tortilla or two, get a an optimal sprinkle of queso fresco and black beans and tilt your head to 45 degrees to bite into a taco that has rich flavor and love in the preparation. My tacos were served to me each ala omakase style to my plate. I felt like bowing each time. At 20 pesos a taco, you'd be hard pressed to find a better spot at that price point. Extra points for showing music videos from the 80's, Solid as a Rock, by Ashford and Simpson, was totally spot on! read more

Tacos Hola, known also as Tacos El Güero, was mentioned in one of our guidebooks as the best place for vegetarian tacos. This little stand does not disappoint. Our kids were not adventurous enough for the unfamiliar options (we are from the US), but I loved the nopales (cactus), calabaza (pumpkin), and Swiss chard (I forgot what that's called). They ran out of the cauliflower before I could order one. My husband and friends spoke highly of the beef. There is almost no seating... but I happily ate standing at the counter.
