I drive by all the time, so I finally stopped in today for lunch. The staff was super friendly and helpful with suggestions. I ordered two tripa tacos, chips and salsa with a Modela beer (didn't have to go back to work ) This was my first time eating tripa - it was crisp and full of meaty flavor. The tacos were a good size and the onion/cilantro relish was fresh. The chips were homemade and crisp. The salsa was very good. Both with its own consome/broth cup If you like a good spicy AND flavorful authentic birria I recommend making the drive and checking Birria PDX instead. El Patrons broth was incredibly watered down. When you open the cup there was absolutely no color or "sazon" to it. As for the tacos themselves there was barely any red in them. I had to pour a lot of guac sauce in order to add some flavor to the bland food we ordered. So heads up to anyone, expect to chew on bland tacos and expect this watered down "consome". We came on a sunny day and it was so lively. it's safe to say these are the best and most authentic tacos I've had in Portland. We ordered the birria, queso tacos and a chicken taco. The food options here are really cool and glad we finally tried this place since we live so close. The service was really good and nice even that late at night when we came 30 minutes before closing. We tried the tacos with refried beans, some regular tacos, and also some queso tacos. We also got the nacho fries. I had the queso taco and it was really good. The tortilla was nice and crispy but also pliable. It held all the ingredients really well, so there wasn't a dripping mess and it was loaded with toppings. There was a lot of pico and also a huge Guap of guacamole on each taco. The nacho fries were really good. I wish there was a more queso cheese on it, but the toppings were plentiful just like the taco with a huge serving of guacamole. Has beer (corona if you didn't know is tolerable for those who are GF intolerant) Food is quick. We always get the birria tacos, with cheese, without, the box, burrito with pastor and that's about it. There are two trucks. One has desert and looks to be seafood. Pretty sure they are connected. We came here for the first time about one year ago and It was my first time having Birria tacos with consommé. Ever since I had fallen in love with all things Birria, and luckily it has became quite popular and accessible. The other day we drove by and saw they upgraded their taco truck situation, so we dropped by to check it out for lunch. It moved to the other side of the original gravel parking lot location, with a newly built concrete foundation and wooden covering for the eating area. It looked really cozy and is definitely an upgrade from the previous dining situation. We were there for a Friday late lunch, and ordered some queso Birria tacos, vampiro tacos, suadero tacos, and consommé. The wait was a bit long, about 30 minute-ish. It was quite cold sitting at the picnic table while the freezing wind was making us shiver, but luckily the warm afternoon sun helped to keep us warm enough. Finally our food came and everything looked fresh and tasted delicious. I like the freshness and crunchiness of the vampiro tacos, with the deep fried taco shells on the bottom and a pile of guacamole on top. Queso Birria tacos had some amount of cheese on the bottom of the crunchy shells. It was less messy than other Birria tacos and had a very clean taste. The consommé was the bomb, especially for my boyfriend. He loved it before and he loves it now. It's dark, rich, savory and a bit spicy. He and I both agree it's the one for the consommé lovers because, trust me, if you are into consommé you can taste the difference. We also ordered some suadero tacos. The staff recommended us to get different tortillas and we loved the result. It's fun to taste the difference between roasted corn vs flour tortillas. The best place for Tinuana-style tacos in the Portland Metro area! We searched for about a year before we found some tacos in Oregon where the meat wasn't sweet, was cut correctly, and just generally tasted authentic. The staff is always friendly and has a great selection of food, you really can't go wrong with anything that you order though I would highly recommend the shrimp tacos. The flavor is not washed away, it is tasty all the way through. I promise you if they had more exposure, they'd be a restaurant soon. Juicy is the one word to describe it.
