Al pastor Tacos minus guac upon request
    Seetha G.

On our recent visit to Rosarito, we wandered around late at night in search of some great tacos and reached Tacos el Norteño. Ordered a round of Al pastor and were promptly served a batch of tacos that were generously loaded with spicy pork and had a good balance of the accompanying toppings. Somehow the tacos seemed to fall a little short on the seasonings and left us craving more from another source (which we did find from their neighbor).

4/28/23 We were walking the Rosarito strip and walked by this place. What caught our attention was the aroma by the food being cooked, the carne Asada and the el pastor so we followed our noses in. The Asada tacos and el pastor tacos were delicious. Lengua tacos were delicious. So when you walk in you order right in the middle then the lady gives you little tags that you need to take to the either the pastor side or the Asada side depending on what you order. Weird but hey that's their system and it works for them. Only thing I do wish is that they would put beans in their Asada tortas. Plus you know the place is good when the local law enforcement stops by to eat.

Tacos el Norteno has always been our go to when we wanted a great carne asada and al pastor taco. I've had breakfast, lunch and my late night fix here quite a few times. It's been awhile since I've been to Rosarito, and the first thing we wanted when we got into town were Tacos! I was craving Tacos el Norteno like a junkie needs a fix. Well, I was not disappointed at all though I think I found another taco shop I may like the Al Pastor a bit more. The only way I'll get to the bottom of this dilemma is a side by side comparison which will have to wait until the next trip. The carne asada is cooked over wood, I think they're using mesquite or oak so it has that great smoky flavor. Some of the other locations use a gas grill (still tasty). Both Asada and Pastor were juicy and full of flavor. I'm salivating as I'm writing this!

Definitely a place to check out after a night of drinking from Papas & Beer or any of the other clubs/bars down the street. Their specialty is the al pastor tacos and the lengua, both a personal fave! Prices are cheap and the meat is delicious! Wash it down with a Tecate and it is the perfect drunken meal! You'll most likely be serenaded by someone singing a Spanish song with a guitar where they'll later ask you for a tip, but they're most likely talented and serenading you with some type of romantic song anyway, so it's worth the tip!

Tacos were okay, this is a 24/7 taco spot in Rosarito. We were hungry after drinking all evening in Puerto Nuevo. You pay before you get your tacos, which is unusual in Baja. I got al pastor tacos, they were alright, they also sell tortas and quesadillas

5 stars for Tacos el Norteno. The Adobada is delicious. You take a bite into your burrito and something magical happens.

We recently ate here one our first day in Rosarito. The minute that we arrived, all I could smell was the al pastor. It's not a "fancy" taco place, but the tacos were some of the best we had while visiting the area. They were so good that we came back for seconds before driving home to Orange County. I ordered a Mulita (similar to a quesadilla) with carne asada along with an asada taco and an al pastor taco. Paired with a Pacifico, it was the perfect meal to start our trip to Rosarito. The meat was flavored to perfection, and I couldn't help but order some seconds. This is a must stop when staying in the area. I just wish that I could of brought some home to share with the family. Ps. It is very budget friendly. The tacos are only $1.25 and $2.50 for a cerveza!! Enjoy

Very tasty tacos and burritos. The corn tortillas were hand made and fresh The carne asada could have used more seasoning but the salsas and presentation were on point.

Which 10 friends are you bringing with you to eat all of this? LOL

If you're under 30, and more importantly if you're not married, and you're in Rosarito, there's a good chance you're partying at nearby Papas & Beer or some other club down in this area of Baja. Do yourself a HUGE favor and stay sober enough (or have someone in your group who stays that way), to find your way across the street from all the beach party action, and into Tacos el Norteno. No joke, these are some of the BEST tasting tacos you can buy in the area, and at a completely affordable, totally reasonable price. On my visit, I tried the adobada (al pastor), carne asada and cabeza. Holy smokes if each taco wasn't as good, if not better than the last. Just walking in, you're going to want to try the adobada, which is sitting on a spit and rotating near an open flame - it smells heavenly, and looks delicious. You can't go wrong with it either, it is seriously tasty. Here's where you should learn a little bit of Spanish and ask for the bits that are closer to the flame, and slightly charred. "Dame la carne que es carbonizado, por favor?". You won't regret asking. You'll see the grill man, behind the order counter, stacking up piles of carne asada, which will tempt you to try those tacos. Try them. They have a delightfully delicate citrus flavor to them, with a nice char. What you won't see being cooked, is my all-time favorite meat, cabeza! Here, it is sooooo tender, super moist and plenty meat tasting. They put a house made green salsa on it which elevates this taco to cream of the crop. Each taco is around $1.30 (American). Not bad....not bad at all. Look, even if you are a little too drunk to know what you're eating; why would you want to eat bad food? Trust me, Tacos el Norteno has you covered, sober or otherwise.

I'm glad that the other two Yelpers on our UYE rated this place, because I had no idea what the name of the restaurant was, ha. The $1 tacos were indeed delicious. My Spanish is a little rusty, apparently I was offered carne de asada OR el pastor tacos but I only was able to hear the el pastor, so I tried that. SUPER spicy which usually isn't my thing but it was still very tasty. There was a guy with a LITERAL meat hive (think beehive-shaped, but with meat) and that's who you went over to, to get your tacos ... yum. This place loses 1 star for its bathroom sitch, as the ladies room toilet was clogged. Also we washed our hands with some sort of random dish soap (think what you would use with a dishwasher). Overall, though, the place seemed clean.

Al pastor burrito. The picture is alright but trust me, this is DELICIOUS!!!!!

I ordered the Shrimp Zareandado plate. Servings are large and food was very tasty. I had a lot of leftovers to take home. Only issue I had was that red onions they place under the shrimp had too much habanero and was way too spicy for me. I love spicy but it was overkill. So next time I will request plain red onions. Otherwise my food was delicious. Review 5/31 We stopped in to grab a quick bite before heading home and like always food and service was great. We were seated immediately. My Hubby ordered his favorite Taco with salmon, cheese, caramelizes onion and shrimp and avocado and chipotle sauce. I had the Tito California taco it is a taco dorado with a chili California, cheese and marlin inside the chili, carmelized onions and shrimp avocado and chipotle sauce. So tasty and great flavor with every bite. It is a meal in itself. Love every bite

We all had the fish tacos and they are the biggest fish tacos I've ever seen. They had 4 pieces of fried fish and all the trimmings. Honestly, each one of these ta os are a meal in its self. That's all we had this time, but they were great and very affordable. Give them a try I'm sure you'll not regret it!
