Burrito Suizo Especial - A plate of cheese enchiladas topped with melted cheese and red sauce is placed on a dark table. A person's hand is visible near the plate, and in the background, there are tortilla chips, a small bowl of salsa, and another dish with cheese and sauce. The setting appears to be a Mexican restaurant.

Now This Is A Burrito! We have been going to Tacos El Norte as part of our regular dining out rotation for years and they never disappoint. The ladies behind the counter and also serving are super pleasant and friendly, always greeting diners with a smile, a warm Hello! and Sit Wherever You Like. I am a burrito fan and after this visit I had to post this. Burritos come three ways. All three come with a flour tortilla, filled with chicken or beef, lettuce, tomato, not too many beans and cheese for $8.99. You can also order it as Burrito Suizo Especial which also includes guacamole and sour cream, then topped with a ranchero sauce and melted cheese - our favorite way for $12.40! And for those that are super hungry, try the Papi Burrito Especial for $12.99. A mega tortilla wrap that comes out looking like a ranchero and cheese topped football. Onions and cilantro can be added by request to any of these. Large condiment bottles of homemade red and green sauces are brought to the table and use as much as you like. I prefer the green as the red is just a little to spicy for me. As my picture shows, the regular Burrito Especial is huge and we order it so we can bring home half to eat the next day. You know this place is the real deal and priced right when you see the volume of carry out business they do at dinner time. Burrito fans - give them a try.

Although the waitress denied new ownership, there were several changes at this location. First they serve liquor. Second the salsa greatly improved from subpar to above average with spice to boot. Third the plate was huge in all proportions and tastes excellent! And the beans are more blended pinto style that totally refried. And excellent service! This location went from the worst of this chain to right up at the top!

Carne Asada with rice and beans. - A food plate from a Mexican restaurant includes grilled carne asada with a dark, glazed surface, accompanied by rice, refried beans topped with shredded cheese, and garnished with chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sour cream, and salsa. The dish is served on a beige oval plate placed on a gray table, with condiments and utensils visible in the background.

A nice little spot to grab some Mexican food. We were able to sit outside and enjoy our lunch. The carne asada was very tender and had an excellent flavor The rice was solid and the beans were okay. My friend enjoyed his steak tacos. He gave it an 8/10. Friendly service.

Ground beef burrito - A partially eaten beef and lettuce burrito is placed on crinkled aluminum foil on a granite countertop. The burrito has a flour tortilla wrapping, with visible shredded lettuce and ground beef inside. Some sauce or melted cheese is visible on the foil near the burrito. The background shows a kitchen setting with dark cabinets and a countertop.

Good food. Friendly service. Take out or dine in is equally yummy. A good location to go for Mexican.

I had tow pastor tacos one steak taco and some guac. Over all it was good just wish I could have had lime. Had to go buy my own But other wise a good taco.

a parking lot with cars parked in it - A single-story strip mall features signs for Little Caesars, Tacos El Norte, and other businesses, with several parked cars in front. The parking lot has visible cracks and is mostly empty. The sky above is clear with some clouds, and the building has a beige facade with large glass windows and doors.

We arrived at 6:20 (website says they close at 7), and the dining area was fairly busy. We were rudely told that we could not eat in as the server was cleaning and done taking tables. I confirmed 7 pm close time, and she still wouldn't seat us. I would not recommend this place. If they want to close 40 minutes early, they should update their website.

Date of visit: December 13, 2025…read more I love a good Mexican place, and as much as I enjoy Carlos's, it is good to have other options for when I go to visit my friend in the McHenry/Spring Grove area. The restaurant is very large with a variety of seating options including some interesting swings. I say interesting because it's really more of a novelty than anything; honestly, do you really want to have a seat that moves while you're eating chips with salsa? The menu is interesting, with a heavy focus on birria (think brisket, if you're unfamiliar) including in a dipped/fried taco as well as a grilled cheese sandwich, which is what I went with. While the meat in the sandwich was good, there was very little cheese to speak of, and that should be an important component of a grilled...cheese. However the chips and salsa were excellent, with some of the best chips I've had in quite some time, they really taste like more. In terms of the salsa, they are not lying with the "Diablo" in their name. If you are not a fan of spicy, stay away from the salsas as even the mild is fairly potent after a few chips. Also note that sour cream is available but doesn't tend to come WITH things by default, so be prepared to ask for that if it's a key part of your Mexican meals. Also disappointing, the tacos come with raw onions on top. This isn't mentioned on the menu, and was a very unwelcome addition to the dish. Service was a bit of a mixed bag; Jasmine was nice and attentive but struggled on some aspects, including telling us what the three salsas were when she brought them to the table, and saying that birria was a "biscuit," which thoroughly confused us. She asked if we wanted more chips and we declined, but then she brought more anyways.

But another important factor besides that is the price, I ordered two Taco dinners which wasn't so bad in itself at $32 however I also ordered one side of rice one side of beans and an 8 oz side of guacamole which came to $17 and some change. Really!!! That was crazy and I told that to the girl there at the counter and she nonchalantly replied oh well everything has gone up. Well I won't disagree with that but to charge that much for a scoop of rice in a scoop of beans and a side of guacamole well that was just too much for me. Needless to say after years of being a faithful customer I will no longer be patronizing this establishment. Alvarado has better food now and cheaper prices.

It's a restaurant that looks like it's been around a long time to be honest. They probably get a lot of business because there's not a lot of other places to eat around here that aren't fast food it seems. Basic looking inside. There's a good amount of tables. Any okay Mexican restaurant has to have alcohol. It's about $8 for a margarita. Pretty amazing prices. It's about $12 for the Veggie Fajita Burrito. This is filled with beans, cheese, green peppers, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. I got it without cheese. This was pretty filling for a lunch. For sure it gives people a reason to come to this town of which there's not much going on around. It's even open in the morning. They'll make burritos and tacos for breakfast too if you really want it but whatever.
