I used to come here years ago and had no complaints that was about 20 years ago. Lol just ate here with my mother today randomly for a late lunch and ordered a burrito. They got my order wrong and then my food was not fresh off the grill. It was literally lukewarm. You would think it would be hot to the touch if it was just made ? Keep in mind no other customers were present. I ordered a burrito with melted cheese on top and then when I cut into it to eat it, it literally tasted like less than Taco Bell quality. Both my mother and I agreed it was not good. Not authentic tasting, not full of flavor at all not hot. The chips and salsa that they served were mediocre as well. The chips were 100% stale. My mother and I politely let the lady no and she didn't look happy and then walked away and "ok bye, have a good day" as she walked away making no eye contact. We walked out and did not even finish our meal. We just left a tip which wasn't even deserved because our waitress was not apologetic or friendly. She didn't even smile once. This restaurant is great. The atmosphere is quaint and charming. The food was awesome. I ordered nachos with chicken. My hubby had the taco salad with steak. I'll start with the good. Walked in and was served immediately. I was getting a to go order of a burrito and fries. Food was prepared quickly and the restaurant seemed to be a nice place to grab a bite to eat & a drink, but didn't stay. The not so good. The server that handed me my food, not the same person who had taken the order, was rude. I was sitting at the to go high top potentially waiting. I was the only one at this table. She yelled out "Yo"! and handed me the bag, and immediately turned around to walk away. No "thank you" or making sure what I'd ordered was correct. The bad. The burrito barely had any steak inside. Seriously like maybe four small pieces. It was stuffed with just the fillers, beans, rice etc. No sour-cream as ordered and the order of fries was a kids size at best. Every time I come here, I'm always surprised by how incredible the food is, especially for the reasonable price. My go to is the chicken enchiladas, served with rice and beans. Horrible experience today. Stopped by with my dad to get lunch. Went in and ordered 5 tacos to begin with. Get my food and walk out. Grabbing the container the way the worker gave it to me. We really liked this place for Mexican food. But the past 2 times they have messed my order up. When we called they said we would have a credit on account for the next time. Well the next time came and they told us there was no credit to be used we still ordered and paid full price only to have then mess it up again. Perhaps if the cook wasn't drinking while trying to cook orders maybe there would be no mistakes. Needless to say when I called to say my meal was not correct they argued with me. My husband and I just had dinner and margaritas, and our bill was $19.00!!! Monday and Tuesdays are $1.99 margarita nights. They are good, strong margaritas too! The guacamole is very good, and they have great Horchata too. I would recommend it for a night when you just don't feel like cooking, but you also don't want to spend a ton of money eating out. After 15 years of going here, I am finally getting around to writing a review of el Burrito. Lets get the bad stuff out of the way first -- The place looks like a dive. It is situated in a corner of a dying strip mall and the bathrooms can be dirty at times. Occasionally the wait staff have a difficult time with the English language. That said, the food is outstanding! Only a fool would go to a place called el Burrito without trying the burritos. The burritos are massive. All the other menu items I've tried have been excellent as well. Everything is fresh and homemade. Prices are more than reasonable. The best part is the $1.99 Margaritas every Monday and Tuesday night! If you are looking for some excellent and authentic Mexican food, give el Burrito a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I was hesitant because I've seen those frozen monstrosities and did not want that at all. But our server seemed pretty happy about them so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm very happy that I did. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. Great amount for food for your money. I haven't been able to finish my meal either time I've been. I believe you have to pay for a 2nd bowl of chips and salsa, but I don't know why you would need that 2nd bowl. No complaints about service, actually I would commend them because my husband and I are NOT the fastest decision makers and they've been quite patient with us. I think maybe this place has changed owners a couple times in recent years? You know the food is going to be good when all the decorations are donated by Mexican beer companies and the only thing on TV is futbol or telenovelas (soap operas). Very good food here, including more seafood than you see on most Midwestern menus...many choices on the menu overall. Very good flan dessert. Be careful on ordering appetizers because you will fill up and spoil your meal. The people that worked there have always bent over backwards to be nice to the point where we just wind up lingering around longer. Lots of choices for the kids like chicken nuggets, mini-quesadilla, fries, hamburgers, etc. Both my sons are under 5 but will eat the soup here, which we've never seen them do anywhere else. Also it was fun that they have a guy in there playing guitar and singing table side sometimes. If you think Mexican food comes from Taco Bell or can't understand why everyone won't "learn the language" to better serve you, do the rest of us a favor and skip this place.
