Meat Nachos and two drinks
Teresa S.

Unfortunately, my last experience here was not good. We weren't greeted. Placed our order. Nachos with meat and two drinks. We had plenty of choices to sit as there weren't many diners. There's only one restroom, and that seemed like the busiest place here. The salsa bar was clean and had options. This is where I munched a snack with my expensive soda. I get that overhead expenses are deep- businesses also need to realize that our pockets are not.

Wonderful first time experience. Hector took my order helped me out with many delicious recommendations for my first dinner take out. The salsa bar and the aguas frescas were just a beautiful rare scene to see for me. Enjoy the refills from both areas. This is definitely a must drop by little family owned shop. Super clean and the customer service was just warm and family oriented. Come drop by enjoy. Don't forget to try the flan dessert! Enjoy! Thank you again Don Hector!

Solid taco spot! Came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend. Love that they have their own parking lot. I ordered a two taco small plate and my bf ordered 4 tacos. Service was super quick. Also love that they have a self serve salsa bar (my fav was the orange and mild salsa). And their agua fresca comes with unlimited refills, yum! Will definitely be back!

I'm giving this place four stars, though three and a half might feel more accurate--but I'm rounding up because of the consistent experience I've had here. I've been about four times, and every visit has been pleasant. The staff is generally friendly, the place is clean (a big plus for me), and the food has always been solid. One feature I love is the salsa bar, which offers fresh pico de gallo. On my last visit, I ordered the three enchilada plate, and I had no complaints--it hit the spot. My wife had the carne asada burrito, and while she thought the meat could've used a bit more flavor, it didn't ruin the experience. Parking is convenient, which is another win, and the overall cleanliness and reliability of the food make this one of my go-to spots.

Quesadilla felt like a worse burrito. Not bad, but disappointing. It was wrapped in tin foil and was not cut at all, like a burrito. There was also like no cheese, or at least I could barely see em. I ordered grilled chicken which tasted juicy and fresh. But despite that, still lacked flavor. One side of it was full of vegg and sauce while other was mostly chicken, which is pretty normal for a burrito. Luckily lots of sauce at the sauce bar which helped a lot. The green sauce my fav. One side of the quesadilla was also slightly burnt, like I could smell it before I even saw it. Also idk why they gave u knife and fork when it was a much better experience to just bite it like a burrito. Its like a burrito without the rice, less flavorful than a burrito. Extra Sauces, pico de gaillo was more spicy than expected. Green sauce my fav. Chips and salsa be free and self serve They give u number and will bring the food to you You pay before you eat Idk why theres hand sanitizer on every table It is a busy place, always at least 3 parties in the building at a time, still lots of tables and chairs tho, on a tuesday 12:33pm In terms of flavor, its fine, quantity is still as good as other mexican foods (one quesadilla basically 3 meals for me lol), love the free salsa bar, nice interior, clearly many people like it from how much customers I saw so 4/5

I have driven by this place many times and have been curious. The reviews are decent. I haven't had Mexican food for a while. They have a large parking lot and drive through. I had ordered the small plate cheese enchilada that included rice and refried beans, and lengua taco with pineapple aqua Fresca. Chips and salsa are complimentary. The salad bar was very neat and tidy. Drink refills are free. Service at the counter was friendly where for cash payment, a 4% discount. Good delivered to your table. Portion was generous. The lengua on my taco was tender. Red sauce over my cheese enchilada was good. Overall, the meal was fulfilling. I would come back to try other dishes.

I came here on a Sunday morning, it wasn't too crowded and there was hella parking. The staff here were hella nice and the place is clean. The best part here is the salsa bar which they have all the fixings for everything you need. I ordered 2 tacos and a chorizo breakfast burrito. They were hella good and felt like they used quality ingredients. I think this will be my go to spot for people when they visit.

My new favorite taqueria in the San Leandro/Castro Valley area. They have their own spacious parking lot. The chips and salsa bar are complimentary. Aqua Frescas drinks come with free refills. Good selection of menu items. We had a carne asada super burrito, carnitas super quesadilla, garlic shrimps plate (with rice and beans and tortillas), two al pastor super tacos, and a chile relleno. Food came pretty quick. The portions were really generous, and half of our party couldn't finish their orders. Everybody liked their food. The only complaint was that the super quesadilla was not cheesy enough and it resembled more like a burrito. My super tacos came with lots of shaved cheese. Maybe a little too much. Otherwise, the foods tasted good and we felt there were of good value. Cash payments get 4% discount.

Took a nice walk for dinner here. They have quite a large menu. You walk up and order then find a seat. There was a lot of seating, bit I enjoy sitting by the window. They have a big tray of chips and a salsa bar. The green salsa was my fave. The orange salsa was good too. It looks really spicy, but it has a mild kick. While it was Taco Tuesday, the Taco Salad looked appetizing. We ordered that. Oh forget about the taco salad at Taco Bell and come over here. This is much much better. Got it with carnitas and that was yum. It wasn't too hard and it wasn't greasy either. I'll have to come back and try other items from their large menu.

Tacos El Compa is hands down one of the best taquerias in town! I ordered the breakfast burrito, two super tacos, and an horchata--and everything was amazing. The breakfast burrito was stuffed to perfection, with fluffy eggs, crispy potatoes, and just the right amount of spice. The super tacos were generously loaded with flavorful meat, fresh toppings, and soft tortillas that tied everything together. And the horchata? So refreshing and perfectly sweet--it was the cherry on top of an already stellar meal. One of the best things about Tacos El Compa? They still provide free chips AND offer unlimited horchata refills. In a time when so many places are cutting back, Tacos El Compa stays true to its roots, giving you the authentic taqueria experience with incredible value. If you're looking for delicious, hearty food and old-school hospitality, this is the place to go!

Super Nachos, hell yea!

We were brought fresh tortilla chips to start, which were great, along with a Lazy Susan-style setup of salsas and toppings. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a miss for me--there were raw onions, raw jalapeños, a green salsa, and more of a plain red hot sauce rather than a true salsa. I would have preferred something more traditional like a good pico de gallo or a more balanced house salsa. Ordered a bottle of Dos Equis, which at $7 felt a bit steep. Most entrées were priced between $17-$25, which is pretty standard. I had the carnitas and they were excellent--really flavorful and well-prepared. I also tried a bite of the chile relleno, which was solid as well. Overall, the food was good and the service was strong. That said, it's a bit out of the way for me, and while I enjoyed it, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

My wifes chicken taco had plenty of chicken and she said it was ok. The chile relleno was thickly battered and a bit bland. My Molcajetes had beef, chicken, chorizo and shrimp. The only thing edible was the shrimp. The chorizo was hard and dry. The beef was literally like chewing on leather. Over cooked and dry as sawdust, I had quite a time just cutting it into bite sized pieces. Unedible! The chicken was not much better. The server asked if everything was ok. I calmly told him no and what the issue was. I said I will pay for it but you can throw it away. He offered something that I couldn't understand what he said and I said to get rid of it, I don't want it. Didn't offer to reduce or remove the cost. I usually roll with it when things aren't great but this needed to be addressed. As expensive as things are restaurants can't rest on their laurels. You had better be on your "A" game or you will be out of buisness. I literally do not want mexican food in my future for some time based on our experience at this restaurant. -5 stars.

Food was fantastic -- straight to the point and with boldness from the Latin influence. The ambiance aims for a higher end dining experience, and there is a full bar with additional seating. The bartender/server was attentive and quick with our drinks and food. Ordered the ground beef tacos and their version of loaded fries along with a pitcher of margs. The fries were bomb. They season their fries like curly fries, so flavorful. The steak on the fries was cooked well and didn't get any fatty pieces. The tacos also had good flavor. The margs did the job too. We had a group of 10 people come in on a Sunday afternoon and this is my take: ATMOSPHERE First of all the restaurant was freezing. It was literally 63 degrees (see pic) and the staff were wearing ski jackets and hoodies to stay warm. I went up to ask the staff to turn the heater on and they said only the owner has access to the thermostat that was under a locked box. I asked them to give him a call and I would talk to him as they seemed scared to make the request. They reported back that he agreed to turn up the thermostat. The entire restaurant was dimly lit and gloomy. They probably keep the lights low to hide the dirty floors and tables. See pic. FOOD As soon as I saw the menu I could tell it was Americanized Mexican food and had zero hopes of anything tasting good or authentic. The food ended up tasting better than expected and by that I mean it wasn't bad but it was flavorless. Just dead. They need to learn how to use spices and produce when cooking to liven up their flavors. All of the salsas, sauces and guacamole were pre-made and tastes like they can from a can, jar or previously frozen. None of it tasted homemade. SERVICE The servers were very nice although probably unhappy to work at a miserable place.
